I don’t recall that, everything coming out about McAndrew was how positive he was going.

Irrespective you said preseason games, there was only 2, an internal where he beat ROB and one against Port where there’s different recolllections

As I mentioned, my memory is that McAndrew held his own against a second-string ruck and got smashed by a lead ruck. Against ROB in the trial, my memory is that he held his own in the first half and then fell away.

Obviously, I'm only working from a very small sample size, but from the little I've seen of him I was far from impressed. I think the desire to play him stems from dissatisfaction with ROB rather than any kind of hopes for McAndrew.

I am fully on board with replacing ROB, but I don't think he's the one to do it.

So FOG is out. Probably a nice free hit at experimenting with just the 2 talls and Curtin to rotate through when the other 2 rest, or chop out in the ruck.

Also wouldn't mind seeing us throw in a few structural curveballs up forward. Like a couple mins a quarter with Rankine, Rachele, Nibbler, Draper and Keays all buzzing at the feet of just Tex or just TT. At this point no opposition coach would expect a 5 small mosquito fleet. Try and throw their back 6 into chaos from time to time

First 10 minutes will be decisive. Freo will come out pretty fired up. Awful vs Melbourne and have copped a week of intense media scrutiny.

If we can withstand that initial burst it will go a long way towards getting the win. Just don't want them to get a couple of goals early, home crowd fires up etc.

Interesting game. Difficult to tip a winner.

I never thought an Essendon vs Collingwood Anzac Day game at the MCG would be relegated to curtain raiser status but here we are.

In what way were we smashed by Gold Coast? The context of the sentences suggests clearances, but we won the clearance battle against the Suns.
My apologies to Rob.

We lost the hit outs 45 to 49 but won the clearances 46 to 35. I do recall thinking at the time that we did better than expected against a high quality midfield.

So we have won clearances 5 times in 6 matches. Our only clearances loss was 37-40 against Geelong. My point was that if we continue to win clearances it is very difficult to see Rob playing in the SANFL. I will just have to close my eyes when he takes possession of the ball.

I like the mosquito fleet idea. If it works, it'll definitely give us flexibility going forward.

But expect we'll default to Curtin as a pure third tall.

Without FOG playing it actually wouldn't be too hard to achieve structurally when ROB is on the pine.

Curtin on the wing, mids Daws-Soli-Crouch, TT Ruck. Forward line with Tex + Mosquito fleet.
