Loved Sims game. Pump games into him. McAuliffe seemed to be running with Reid and did ok especially early. I thought he seemed to give away a few free kicks for in the back but he only had 2 free kicks against. 6 tackles. Was good in the clinches late when we had some very tired bodies.

The issue is that we only play West Coast at home, at most, once a year and the way we played today wouldn’t result in a win against any other team in the competition

Things would’ve gone a bit skew-iff with the rotations and setup with Short a late out and Yze stayed in the box.

It’s a positive when you’re a developing team, play poorly for the majority of the game and still find a way to win.

Think the Eagles were always going to come out swinging. Not just because of Baker, Graham and McQualter, but would see this as a possible win.

Credit to KPF’s; not sure they lost too many aerial contests. Banks was a good link up man but made some mistakes. Sims in the ruck battled away, but sure the lack of experience. Think it was Bailey Williams’ first goal where he should have swapped from the manning the mark after he gave away the too high on Reid. Also got under the ball too much on leads.

Centre bounce was bad. Eagles kicked 7.7 and their burst away from stoppage with their mids pushing forward was something we just didn’t stop. Lack of pace inside a culprit

We looked okay when switching and changing angles. But poor execution, or being to slow to read the next option also hurt us badly.

Feels like there were more negatives than positives yet still got the win. Which feels like the biggest positive.

Good summary except they the eagles were slow out of the box today. We should have been a lot further in front at 1/4 time

Who in their right mind even thinks we are within cooee of a flag in the next 5 years? They clearly haven't been paying attention to the last 2 years and what we did in the off season. Hoppers there to educate and onfield coach with Taranto. Do you think we're in the premiership window in the next 4 years do you?

I actually think we are well within Cooee of winning a flag in the next 5 years. It may hinge on a bit of luck with injury but what team has won a flag without luck with injuries.

Arguably we already have all the defenders we will need to win a flag… a running half back may be the exception.

We will need a number 1 ruck unless we go really early with our success or somehow one of the B boys comes off.

Wing is questionable at this stage but we should have at least one covered.

Midfield may be an issue but we have Smillie, Hotton, Lalor and McAuliffe all to develop into those positions. We also have the potential recruits from this off-season. Taranto and Hopper should also still be providing support for the next 4 years.

The forward line may be a question mark but gee I am bullish on Sims, Armstrong and Faull. Lefau could still prove useful for the next 3-5 years and who knows about the other talls. Campbell is pretty damn good and Mansell is at least serviceable. We haven’t even seen Alger yet either.

Not sure if any of our other players will step up but if we find 2-4 players a year around the mark to add to our best 25-30 players, I can’t see how we don’t open the window by 2028.
