Steven Wright....Isn't that our former CEO from 20 years ago? Had his chance then and clearly was found wanting. History says he was part of the dark 37 year period, so yeah, I think I'll trust the current regime to guide us through to our next dynasty Mr Wrong
None of the blokes in charge now were part of our success or dynasty!!

I thought it was quite a good game for us.

Our worse situation for the year and Geelong could not destroy us despite the headlines.

Absolute smack in the guts for Geelong and RFC showed a lot of character

Our defence clearly stood up and we provided a contest.

Focus on the draft and future development we should be crushing a number of teams by over 200 points in the next 5 years or so

the fact Geelong could not beat us by over 100 given our situation is quite damming for Geelong

I could not watch a lot of it because I do not want to see our players hurt but I was anticipating a far worse score result after what had happened but obviously some held their heads high. I am actually pleased. We have had far worse results in the past.

Our kids got more development and Trainor did not get a concussion so it could have been far worse:thumbsu:. Our kids are just starting, they obviously will get better
Geelong had the cue in the rack at half time.
Couldn’t destroy us 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mate our senior players were a joke

We need an inside ball winning mid with one of our early 2 picks. Just someone who gets the job done in the middle, no fuss. We are sorely lacking right now.

need a mid that is willing to run both ways. both taranto and hopper are slow and shocking one-way runners.
people see tackles in their stats line and think theyre good defensively, theyre non-competitive in this regard. opponents burn them every game on counter-attack. is sharp a two-way runner?

Game plan with a lot of players less than 50games. Plus injuries to a lot of players. Development few years.
I don’t think people are understanding of the absolute shellacking we’ve copped from injuries last year and again this season. Not to mention the Balta situation and Lynch suspension.

When you lose a heap of senior quality players in the off-season, take 8 kids in the draft, AND then get absolutely smashed by unavailability it’s impossible to be consistently competitive against decent opposition.

Based on the season thus far we’ve unearthed a dozen quality senior players … unfortunately we have too many unavailable every week.

It’s frustrating as hell, but the club really has been cursed in recent seasons by long-term injuries to most of our really talented youngsters : Gibcus, Clarke, Lalor, Smillie, Armstrong…

But Lalor as an example isn’t even 19yo yet, so there’s years up our sleeve to get him and everyone else fit.

Just remember … Grimes and Astbury barely played their first few years due to chronic injury issues - then both barely missed when winning flags.

Having said that … if Gibcus and/or Hotton don’t get through tomorrows VFL game then our rebuild is cooked and we may as well follow the Storm!!

It’s almost like we need a couple of elite mids with huge bodies that can tackle like mad men and rag doll their oppo … maybe a 195cm mid, and a couple of 188cm bulls, preferably 1 x left footer for variety? But where on earth would we find 3 of those?

Why are we worried about our midfield when Lalor, Smillie, Hotton and McCauliffe aren’t even flippin playing ….

In - kozi--short-- hotton- Trezise
I’m still curious about the impact of his “Preseason.” I’m not sure I’d trade him yet, though. I’d like to see more of him next year.

He is someone we don't need
I'm sure he will have suitors
He won't get us a top 15 draft pick
But we need to get another couple of draft picks this year around the 16 - 28 range

Disagree with that one apart from yesterday we have pretty much been even in centre clearance
We don’t really have an issue getting the ball first it’s what we do after that when we have a breakdown

It’s not another hands to the ball type it’s a running player who can distribute the ball and be the 2nd link of the chain in the middle

Think players like Bailey Smith, Zac Butters, Sam Walsh ect

They can win their own ball of course but their primary function is to distribute and break the congestion after the inside bulls get it into their hands

By all reports that’s the type of player Smillie is so it seems the club as already identified that need and are working to address it but it’s also something we need to continue addressing

In a perfect world Sonsie would already be that guy but unfortunately he still unravels under pressure and it doesn’t look like something he will really remove from him game
