Probably the two highlights were the two players who had something to lose this game in Taylor and Pedlar. Both of them owned most of their moments when they got them and hopefully this kick-starts them a bit.

The rest though, we looked like a side that in their heart of hearts didn't want to play this game and do the extra 1%ers that make a good side. It's only through the sheer amount of high end talent (and finally deciding that we needed to pull up our socks) that we escaped this one. I'm willing to give this a mulligan considering we rolled the Hawks a week prior.

Taylor was excellent today, tackled hard was cool under pressure.

Pedlar also dobbed 3 goals which was super important.

Luckily Taylor and Pedlar stood up because Keays and ANB both looked pretty gassed out there.

Dawson Rankine and Thilthorpe stood up in the 2nd half.

We really struggled to transition today, couldn't get our flow going, West Coast also looked like they moved the ball a lot quicker than us. We got burnt on the counter for the first time since the Geelong game.

Gonna be some sore boys this week.

Makes the Collingwood game a lil tougher.

soreness is usually a symptom of playing soft footy. WCE deserve credit, our players were caught off guard and regardless ofthe match PR where they said they knew WCE were going to bring it, they clearly didnt and it showed.

Our scores off turnover were way down today. We seemed to drop some marks early so maybe missed some opportunities. It wasn't until Q4 that Keane and Worrell plucked a few intercepts.

Why was it down today?

Didn't seem like our pressure around the ball was all that good. Didn't force the indiscriminate hack kicks forward

Good: Curtin 8 CBAs, 4 points. Taylors best game. Rankine lifting a heavy load

Bad: Peatlings injury. Burgess tried really hard but just didn't have it. He came into a game with heat and seemed unprepared... but he wasn't Robinson Crusoe

Ugly: 2 Crows players spoiling each other in marking contests. Not being mentally prepared.

Inability to score off turnover is WCE pressure in the middle. Blocking our lanes.

Good - the win

Bad - nearly losing to 18th

Ugly - Chris burgess

Thought West Coast were good and we probably took them a bit lightly - certainly this board did. Mentioned this in the game day thread but it reminded me a bit of some of the decent performances we put in during the 21-22 period against good sides. Fantastic effort and pressure, a bit of young talent and a lot of triers, but it did feel like they didn’t know how to win in the end. Gibney was something else, great game.

Taylor’s best AFL game, Rankine’s second half was a 10/10, and glad Thilthorpe could get back on the ground because we needed him. A few others like Cumming, Pedlar and Laird were solid as well, Keane and Worrell stood up in the end.

Lots of passengers - I don’t think Jones gets another week, Curtin was quiet after a great run of games, and our half forward crew didn’t do much aside from Pedlar.

Nice to get the 4 points in the end. Hopefully we bounce back next week.

Faaaaark…… we ain’t winning it this year. Been saying it all year. Will gladly be proven wrong but just can’t see it.

Our midfield is just too thin, unless Rankine is in there. And we need him forward. Really missing Rachelle.

Taylor was very good, Pedlar also. Best games for both of them for the year.

If any opposition coach wants to see a blueprint for how to beat us, there it was.

Flood our forward line, don’t let our talls get a look at it without being double and triple teamed, it’s what they did all game. Along with manic pressure in the midfield.

Geez we looked flat from the first bounce. I hope that was our worst game for the possible 6 remaining.

Oh, and Jones and Burgess DELIST as soon as possible please. Neither are AFL standard.
Other premiership favourites also struggled this weekend.

Taylor and Bond were the positives today. Thought both showed that they belong and if they can keep their spots, they will improve and become regulars. Bond could easily take over Lairds spot and deserves another contract.

Taylor needs to play to get better, leave him. Thought filthy stood up and won it in the end, he’s the class that will win us a final

Unfortunately Jones needs to be moved on, he’s been terrible since he came back and has offered nothing at all.

Taylor was great at half forward.

I think the biggest concern is how much we miss Tex on field. Gonna be a massive hole to fill when he does decide to call it quits. Still takes a defender but more importantly sets us up on field. That was the Chris burgess farewell game.

Zac Taylor probably played his best game, Pedlar back to some of his best. Dawson, TT and Rankine stood up when it mattered most.

Anyone taking Butts over Murray at the moment?
