This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

A whisper doing the rounds: Picks 10 and 22 for Norths F1.

Would you?
No, if it comes from north, it wouldn't matter who we picked they'd be garbage.

Would need to know our strategy, it's bold, and I think we can continue to afford to be bold.

If we have a trade target/s in mind and feel we need to bank the capital than I get it.

I also feel the picks are in pretty good spots to get your pick of player at 10 and nab the slider from the flat 30ish players with 22.

Missed on Reid, Petracca, Merrett. We’ve had a shocker of a trade period. Granted, many of the outcomes were out of our hands but there must be some accountability. In MM we trust, yes but not blindly anymore.
RUOK?

Nah, we finished top 4 in 2018 and was a bloody gun. Should have been AA by literally every metric the following year. Many Adelaide supporters were rightfully disappointed he got let go in the end.

They also played him at FB at times, which was bewildering in hindsight when you saw what he could do on a wing.

The problem with this is that it would knock us completely out of the draft and we have 7 list spots.

In theory, we could just upgrade Blanck and Ramsden and take picks 62 and 64 (likely to be pushed up into the 50s). We'd go in with the minimum on the senior list and have spots open.

But I don't know if I'm that comfortable basically missing two drafts in a row, especially after we didn't acquire anyone this year. It's not a strong draft but there is talent.

Furthermore, not sure North Melbourne is a sure bet. They weren't great this year results wise but there were a few positive signs. A climb could be possible. Is that trade worth if it the return is only Pick 8 or 9?

It would be a high risk, high reward trade.

We have paid a fair bit for pick 22. I would only consider it if it was for a f1 +ff1

I'd consider that deal IF the player we were desperate for on draft night got snagged before our pick. But I suppose that would be contingent on the player North wanted also being available.

If they improve slightly and end up with pick #6 (for example), would it be worth it? #10 + #22 for #6?

If they'd add a swap of F2's then it would be a lot more appealing.

Hendo was a solid player for the Crows even when he left. I remember some Adelaide supporters telling me we've picked up a decent player. He just had too many in front of him in that wing/HFF role.

Seedsman and Smith were locks in the 22 on the wing for the Crows. Lynch and McGovern had the HFF spots covered.

He just couldn't crack it in a preferred position and they let him go.

Sometimes teams just have logjams in certain positions and a lack of opportunity rather than talent is the issue.

Should also note he missed a fair bit of footy during 2012-2014 due to injury which limited his chances to really establish himself early. Injured his ankle, knee and broke his leg in successive years all of which resulted in him missing big chunks of footy.

He was a good player and I was stoked when we picked up, couldn't believe our luck that we got him for free.

No to the north deal. Unless we're confident of a established gun coming to us , we just can't be giving up two firsts from this draft just like that. Try to moneuvre with 22 + FF and leave pick 10 alone. Need to be future proof, can't just ignore the draft because " maybe a established gun might wanna get to us in twelve months time".

No! North sounds desperate to get into 2025 draft.

Wait to draft night our 22 for norths F1. Take it or leave it!
Exactly, no trades now.. keep talking though.

10+22 for Norths F1+25+26(or F2) is fair and again can be done on the night too.

We should instead trade 22 to Suns for their 24 and swap of F3's, they gain points and think they improved their F3. No better deal for their pick 24 which will be 1st pick on Day 2.

Then dangle 1st pick of night for trade with North if they are offerring 26+F2 or another club's F1

It’s pretty interesting. If we sign 2 DFAs that give us coverage in 2026 then we can prob risk the draft this year and trade our picks out and be fully loaded for 2026 trade period.

I think on draft night if our man is taken before our first we will trade out and into next year.

It’s like the decision is do we go 1 step back to go 2 steps forward….

If this years draft is really weak then using picks for the sake of picks isn;t too wise, trade into a stronger draft/ have more capital to use to land an elite player also wouldnt be an awful outcome.

I just cant see the value in extending the career of a de-listed player vs a player with potential that hasn't had the benefits of being in the AFL system for a number of years.
De-listing means a club feels the player has reached their development plateau, has an injury / health issue or an unresolvable attitude issue, where they no longer see any up-side or value in retaining that player.
The only time this isnt the case is when a player is de-listed with the intention of adding them to the rookie list .

The way I see it, if we dont take a punt on the next Smith, Puopolo or Newcombe then we should have just hung on to the players we just traded.
