Difference is these days they are managing to hold on to their gun recruits. Plus bringing in experience of heart and soul players like Rioli, Long and Noble, not to mention Petraca and wildcard Ugle-Hagan, and it brings about a pretty good squad blending old and new

Must be hard convincing a bunch of young blokes to live on the Goldie all through the winter.

Bloody hell that was slick by the Suns.
Very fast and clean. The difference in skills from last night is ridiculous.
They look to finally have some cohesion and heart to go with the ridiculous talent level throughout the team.
Rowell to come in and possibly a fit, motivated JUH. Scary.
Oh and Trac is back. He’s been a bull & looking like he’s playing with something to prove.

Suns faster, sharper, harder tonight.
But, what stands out to me the most is their discipline. Hardwick has instilled that without stifling their natural talent.

When you get two or three academy players rated in the top 10 each year certainly helps

System is broken. When you have sides winning 27 and 30 games over the last 2 years respectively having MORE top 6 draft picks in that time than a side side who has won 7 games and the same amount of top 6 picks as a side who has won 6 games over that period (granted, West Coast traded pick 3 away), it raises question marks.

The two teams just look so far apart.

For Geelong to get near this they need Smith and Holmes to fire and at the moment they are both panicking and turning it over like crazy. Atkins having a crack and Bruhn doing everything he can to generate something off the back half.

Geelong has had a few very un Geelong moments, coughing easy opportuntiies.

Without Jezza they got no one to kick to up forward.

Alien Neale and emo Henry are a pretty weak duo, easily exploited by a good defender…which is what’s happening.

Really need Jezza to stay healthy

But as some other teams have shown, who I simply won’t name, having top picks doesn’t mean you’ll pick good players. So absolute credit to the suns recruiters for picking the eyes out of the draft and putting together such a great list!
A handout club defending another handout club?

Colour me shocked.
