System is broken. When you have sides winning 27 and 30 games over the last 2 years respectively having MORE top 6 draft picks in that time than a side side who has won 7 games and the same amount of top 6 picks as a side who has won 6 games over that period (granted, West Coast traded pick 3 away), it raises question marks.

Was broken.

I’m not a fan of badly run teams feeling entitled to high picks for being poorly run and it unquestionably encourages tanking if it’s too helpful to loose.

My issue with the Suns/lions draft access is the price they paid for those picks and that has been addressed for the better. Saying “how come my team can’t take advantage of the rort other teams have benefited from” just seems like sour grapes. Just need to make the change and let it even out

They might be missing Dangerfield and Cameron but Geelong look very ordinary and it's not like they will have those guys around for much longer either even when they do return.

I've said it before and I will say it again. End of era for the Cats. Difference is that this time I will be right. Even a broken clock..... you get the idea.
Cameron, Dangerfield and Stengle will come back next week and smash Fremantle, probably

It doesn’t raise question marks, it’s flat out moronic. They are going to lose more viewership from the heartland than they’ll ever gain up north.

Making Geelong look like school boys

GC will be scary if they can play like this away from home

Gold Coast got a lot of picks in the last draft, they paid for that with Jack Lukosius (pick 2 in a super draft) in 2024 and multiple best 23 players in the last trade period. Anyone who thinks that they didn't pay much wasn't paying attention or is just making bad failth arguments.

Especially when Richmond gave up less for an even bigger haul in a much stronger draft the year before.

Problem is the fix came way too late and has now skewed the league for a decade to come. Now due to the rule changes some other teams with academies won’t be able to close the gap with their own talent coming through, exacerbating the issue further, not fixing it. Needed to put individual caps on club talent rather than a competition wide rule.

The Crows are going to be haunted by their failure to get Petracca.

He is exactly what their midfield needed.
Hardly a failure on the Crows part, the AFL gifting GCS two Top 5 academy picks meant they were the only club with the capital to land him.

Don’t care about overcorrecting?

That Port Adelaide would likely need all of the trade value for Zak Butters plus their two years of first round draft picks just to pick up two top shelf but AFL unproven NGA players in Cochrane and Pilot. Which they’ve been longer term planning for under current rules and will now have the rug pulled out from them with no lead time to change tactics.

That’s insane, both from biased and rational viewpoints.
