In fairness I think he has improved this aspect of his game. Think back to the Port game where he ran from half-back, got a 1-2, nearly lost the ball while bouncing and then hit Otten lace out on a lead.

However, there was also the snap shot after a long run in the Essendon game that would have missed a second set of goals as well! :D
He had 3 big runs against Essendon. All 3 ended badly.

Other aspects of his game have shown major improvement this year... his lack of composure after a big run is the one area where little improvement is evident.

His biggest one ended up in a stoppage in the forward line so not a complete waste. His kick was well thought out just the execution lacked slightly. He's improving for sure.

Rowie just asked Lever about the spate of hamstrings. Couple of things:

- confirmed did more leg weights through preseason than years before, that's only real change
- club not concerned about hamstring injuries
- Crouch and Cheney had hamstring tightness and pushed through it. Made it worse

This is what I'm hoping. IMO this, and maybe a few more disposals per game, are all the areas in which he needs to improve. He's almost there.
He's usually good at hitting up a team mate... but needs more work steadying with shots on goal.

That's a big worry.

Surprised there hasn't been more talk about this? Comparing to last season, I wonder what our hamstring numbers are? Seems like a huge gap and then you have to ask why? Coincidence?

Sounds like a massive fail, either on the players or the fitness staff

Can listen there if you like. Interesting comments. He wasn't being critical, but I hope they're doing some serious program reviews internally.

I've seen it mentioned that they do review it consistently and that they have already made changes to some stuff around the hammies and ensuring players just take the time to heal and not push through (as it appears Cheney has done, as well as Seeds with his groin)

There would be reviews. It looks like we pushed players to the edge this preseason and as a result we are seeing some players falter. Hopefully the Crows have adjusted and the injuries we are seeing can be minimised. Luckily there were enough over pre season to raise red flags that id be surprised if the club pushed through or they changed tact just a little.

Let's hope we look back and learn form history... 05 and 06 spring to mind

We seem super fit however! A very fine line no doubt.

That's three things ;) And a concern :(

I think that was on his left ... which looks like his non preferred. .. since he started afl late ... its encouraging to see that he will try to sometimes use his non preferred.

Its the law of averages working against us... last year we didnt have many... this years its going to even up ... good opportunities for the young ones.

May be a contributor. But the string of hamstrings is still a concern. Hope we've seen the end of it for now.
I think we might have to compare with the rest of the league. We are playing a heavy running running gamestyle and not the old contested kick it as far as you can style. I would imagine and hope that players get regularly rested. Also its players that have a history of hammies that seem to be redoing it also maybe our gamestyle and training has something to do with it.

I don't think it's much different to last year except for the personnel.

Walker had never done a Hammie in his life.
