I am not convinced that is what is actually going on.

But it isn't about replacing papley. It is about whether or not whatever we get from carlton will be enough (with whatever else we offer) to satisfy Essendon.

I.e. if Essendon suddenly agree to trade daniher for 5, 9, and more (incredible) then we will do the papley trade.

This was always going to be a nightmare, and I can't believe we have been so dumb as to get involved.

Essendon want 5,9 & a player. I think two top 10picks is too much. Why not wait until he's out of contract next year and all they get is a compensation pick because he is a free agent

No I don't think he will because that dope Dodo Oro will play hardball and the Swans are never going to cough up two first rounders and a player for a train wreck that has played 11 games in two seasons. Why do that when we could wait another season until he is an out of contract free agent and we get him for a compo pick.

5 and 9 is way too much for Daniher anyway. 9 and 25 is much more reasonable. If it is 5 and 9 or anything more than that I don't want Daniher.

You mention before injury. He has played 11 games in two seasons. His brother retires with chronic incurable Osteitis Pubis so there is family history there. If he ever gets back on the park, and that is a big if, he might be worth a quid. But up until that time he is an ex star with a chronic injury problem. Now if the physicians can see him playing I'm all for taking him. But not at the price DoDo Oro wants for him. He wants picks 5,9& a player and you can guess who he's after, McCartin. He can get f’ed.

I say we wait a year until he is out of contract and you and your smarmy club get sweet fu** all for him. Now that's logic my Black & Red Brainstrust. At this point Essendon should just admit they are trolling and stop wasting the Swans time by pretending to negotiate.

I knew it was going to difficult dealing with the druggies but I never thought that they would be this unreasonable and unrealistic. Id have a much higher opinion of the club if they to ld Dodoro to GAGF and we waited until next year.

I could settle for picks 9 and 25. I wouldn't be happy about it but I consider it to be fair and reasonable.

I would have thought that the Hogan trade is a good comparison. Fremantle gave up pick 6 and 25 ish. At the time I thought they were getting ripped off and so far it looks like they were. If we give away any more than that we are idiots.

The draft definitely has a strong appeal though. Picks 5 and 9 are good picks, and we can really fix some holes in our list using them. Of course that is assuming we don't go after the type of player we have been going after the last few years which is the sort who is a good kick, good user of the ball but can't touch the ball more than 10 times a match.

Sounds like Essendon are being far too unreasonable (surprise, surprise). We should tell them we'll talk when they decide to be reasonable and hang up the phone on them. They should be sweating more than us since he is heading into the last year of his deal. We should have a bit more of an upper hand than them.
