Find it funny everyone was okay with Dangerfield just nominating Geelong, but Kelly nominating Eagles is a outrage.

it actually seems like a relatively straight forward deal to me. 14,24, 2020 1st, plus wce add in a player. I am not sure who that player is, but I am sure they would have some decent young player who is willing to move back to VIC.

Not a great outcome for Geelong, but they would have known this risk when they drafted him - as well as for the last 18 months.

Kelly was happy to enter into the draft knowing the risk that he may not end up at West Coast or Fremantle. Goes both ways.

On the plus side, If Papley does leave we have a pick to get big boy Gould.

Would please me to get the two gun SA prospects if we're forced to go young. Especially given both hit needs.

Mentioned it before but would like to see us enquire about Lewis Taylor at the Lions. Finished the season in the NEAFL and out of contract. Has incredible pace and evasion skills. Can hurry his disposal a bit so would suit the Swans ;p If Jones goes we need a line breaker somewhere IMO recruit a few players that could serve a purpose that aren’t getting a run and see if we can turn them into consistent best 22

Carlton will leave without pick 9 for papley but there is no way in hell Martin is worth a first round they literally dropped him this year lol

Martin absolutely is worth a first round pick. Probably not pick 9, but he's worth more than your second. This is irrelevant to Sydney anyway.

He's just not good enough imo

I don't mind the idea of looking for players like this, but he is too established imo. Has had heaps of opportunities at the Lions. I couldnt see him coming to us and being anything other than a fringe player and probably just a list clogger. Better off just taking your chances on the draft.

There are other players that appeal more who you could trade for with late picks.

Sounds like the kind of player we could use for the fringe of the first team if nothing else. Does he pass the dickhead test?
I'd be happy to pick him and Mitch Hibberd (1st priority) up as guys right on the edge of our team pushing to get in and ready to perform should injury strike, or someone lose form.

good, cause you will need two 1st rounders for papley.
Think it might take that for the Swans to give him up tbh. I wonder if Carlton will back themselves given they are on the rise? Pick 9 this year, and their first pick next year for a 3rd coming back? If we give up Papley and Jones for picks we aren't really going to spring up the table, very likely bottom 4 again - so a second going back is too much.
Can Carlton protect the future first like you can in the NBA? First rounder top 10 protected, the following year unprotected...

He wouldn't know for certain unless he's seen the medical reports first hand. He did say that it doesn't look good for him however, which I would interpret as, don't touch him with a barge pole.
We all know he hasn't seen the medical records from Essendon. Nobody sees the medical records from Essendon. Not even the doctors see the medical records from Essendon. There are no medical records at Essendon.

That's not right. There are medical records at Essendon. They'll produce them at the right time and everyone will know the full story and everyone will be exonerated.

I would love the club to get involved in a deal for Brad Crouch. He meets our need for an inside mid and is potentially looking to exit Adelaide.

It would be fun if you could protect picks (you can't), but if Papley is contracted to us until the end of 2023 ... it would take two 1sts for me to be interested in dealing him.

It's one of the many reasons why I don't want anything to do with this Daniher thing. It is going to be hard for us to justify holding Papley to his contract, if we are also going for a contracted Daniher.

4 years is too long. Anything could happen in that time. Giving him up has to make our overall list better. Carlton arent going to give us any of their good young players, so it has to be good picks.

Couple of things in all the trade talk. Why is there a presumption that if Daniher does end up with us that he will be paid anywhere near the big bucks he is on? If he is injury prone and wants out, you take what you get buddy. You want to join our great club you do it at the price we see fit.

Papley. I'm glad the club is sounding like they are playing hard ball. Been to friendly for too long.

Trading in general. The fact there is so much talk around Daniher tells me there is something else in the wings. When have we ever been so sloppy as to leak or hint at a potential trade. Can't see why we would start dropping the ball now.

For so long so many on this Board have sung the praises of this club for being very close to ****ing perfect. Now all of a sudden all the sports surgeons on here a screaming from the ****ing roof top how going after Daniher is a disastrous decision. If they are so ****ing perfect and they are indeed going after him then stick by the courage of your convictions and except they are doing it with knowledge that his injury may be behind him and it is a good opportunity to recruit a key forward with a shitload of talent that can compliment the list going forward. I am not bothered either way but all this shit about kids, kids, Kids does my ****ing head in.

Depending on the development stage of your list Kids are not always the next step in the puzzle. Yes more Young talent needs to come in to keep it ticking over and also to cover the potential young talent you already have, just in case the potential already seen could just be as good as it gets and that is a very real prospect, but when you have some developed experience potentially walking out the door then some experienced talent potentially has to walk back in. That simple.

I mean I agree with the kids and development part, but the first part is basically saying people shouldn't be allowed to change their opinions ever.

I still want us to get Daniher, for the record.

They can change their opinions whenever they like but the ****ing bitching and moaning about this Daniher thing is ridiculous when all of us know or should know We very rarely **** things up and the Tippet example is just plain and utter bullshit.

Fair enough. It's still a big risk though, and I can understand people being skeptical after the Peter Larkins interview.
