also need to factor in that clubs will start passing by the late 50's..so impossible to to calcs really
I doubt clubs will be passing while Burgoyne is still around. He should attract a bid late second round or early third round.

This means there will unlikely be any passes before we have to match a Burgoyne bid.

I think its not out of the question we don't nominate burgoyne and take him as a fs rookie or otherwise let him go. His range is late-rookie.

So basically if his name was Fred Blogs he would be lucky to get picked up by anyone.
I don't think we would draft him. He is the exact sort of player we have plenty of, but better. Maybe some other club will look at him late.

We took Schofield as a fs rookie and I think Schofield is a better prospect than burgoyne.

I haven't been watching this thread so I don't know if this is the narrative or your opinion but what I saw from watching him play 1st grade ssnfl with Port early this year, it's wrong.

The guy is a natural. Skinny? Yes. But he is tall and fast and the way he navigates through traffic is trademark Burgoyne. Anything out of 1st round is a steal

Burgoyne slipped to 70ish in the phantom draft here (despite all the draft watchers having easy access to view his games all year long) and no one seemed that fussed that he slipped that far in hindsight when it was over.

He’s well worth adding to our list and I have some hope for him but at the moment the way I view it is that if he makes it, it’s a bonus.

The kid knows how to find the ball, but he’s very much a stop and chip it sideways player. Very low hurt factor.

People hoping for a quick linebreaker will be confused by what they see eventually. He’s not that. At least not now.

I reckon he will be quite serviceable at sanfl level early but it could take a fair while for him to find a role at afl level.

He’s second round by talent. Clubs are lenient on legit / non superstar f/ss so he may slip to the 40s.

I agree. Also his contested one on one work for a guy with his frame is first class. Let him fill out and then watch out

Just realized there is another month before the Draft actually takes place.
With the AFL's edict of being the number 1 sport media presence in the southern states, what absolute drivel are they going to release to their media partners to keep the Draft front and centre?
I must admit I enjoy the expectation of the Draft but another 4+ weeks of it is going to do my head in.

Good point, and also liked for the correct use of the word `drivel ' instead of the more often and incorrectly used `dribble.' :thumbsu:

IT WAS a question that West Coast and Fremantle had been keen to ask Josh Goater.'How would you feel about moving to Western Australia?'

Goater, the highly rated Calder Cannons and Vic Metro prospect, has been edging up draft boards this season following a campaign where the 190cm youngster has made a successful switch into a full-time midfielder.

Ultimately all draft stuff is opinion. For what it's worth Twomey, who has pretty good access to recruiters, didn't have him in his top 40. I would say that is a fair representation of the consensus opinion. He is a late prospect and I'm not sure he is the type of player we should be drafting as a late prospect. I would rather target a need.

Jase didn't have a great year but we have to remember last year he had the 2nd most disposals in the U18's. Tom Powell had the most and he was drafted at pick 13 by North Melbourne, he looked comfortable at AFL level in the games he played. I agree the question is whether his possessions are damaging enough. He's well worth a spot on the list and a couple of years to physically develop.

Unfortunately it's sounding more and more like the Goat won't last to our pick

All that means is that there could be a slider that we really like. He has to bump somebody out.

I think Goater is exactly the type of dynamic midfielder we really need to round out our midfield.

We have the bulls. We have the skills in Butters and Rozee.

We need an explosive mid.

I wouldn’t describe goater as especially explosive, but yeah he would complement our current mids if he developed. He can exit a stoppage well enough and open those long strides.

Explosive… that’s rachele to my eye. Sinn if he developed into a mid. I’m not sure I would say sonsie is explosive exactly, but in terms of what you’re probably looking for and mean by explosive yeah.

I think Rachelle will end up an Angus Monfries type.

A good forward but only a part time mid.

Picks: 12, 63, 73, 74, 92

List needs: There’s not too much wrong with the Power’s list, but a gun midfielder that can push forward and hit the scoreboard would be ideal as Port in 2021 ranked 15th for goals kicked by midfielders. It’s a good year for the Power to enter a midfield-friendly draft, considering veterans [PLAYERCARD]Travis Boak[/PLAYERCARD] and Ollie Wines are still clearly their best and most damaging midfielders, while there’s hope [PLAYERCARD]Zak Butters[/PLAYERCARD] and [PLAYERCARD]Connor Rozee[/PLAYERCARD] can become full-time on-ballers too.

Who the club should target with its first pick: It might all come down to who slips through to the latter stages of the first round. Murray Bushrangers gun forward-mid Josh Rachele would be a terrific addition, but cross-town rivals Adelaide might pounce on him before the Power can. Promisingly, three SA locals could all be available at Port’s selection: Glenelg’s Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and South Adelaide duo Arlo Draper and Matthew Roberts. Wanganeen-Milera would bring exquisite kicking skills, while Roberts and Draper would win a lot of the ball but also push forward and hit the scoreboard.

Cal Twomey has his October top 35 rankings out has Sonsie and Goater available at our pick.
Also has Roberts at 27 and Bazzo 33.
Has Johnson at 14.
