The one thing I do like about him is that he plays on quickly but in the backline that is live by the sword die by the sword sort of stuff. I’m the ruck that sort of play is a lot less risky and it can pay off. John Barnes was very good at moving the ball quick and was sort of like another midfielder. That’s the player I hope he is but I haven’t seen enough him.

it became apparent last night to me that he moves extremely well for a big bloke, similar to luke jackson (though probably worse)

I don’t know whether he has played a bit of forward at WAFL level before but if he is your 3rd string ruck and he can also give you a really honest contest back or forward that’s basically a 3 for 1 in terms of spots on the list, which we know will be tight.

I think Garry Lyon has done our last 3 games and obviously has no idea he is almost 27, keeps referring to him as a young man just trying to find his way.

He’ll probably be our 7th oldest player next week.

at the risk of coming across all Garry Lyon, is he really almost 27?!?

We’ve been looking for our Blicavs with Cox and Jones. We may have found him here. A few blunders early with his kicking but after that was really sublime ball in hand. Him, Reid and Ridley could be a nice grouping of talls.

After the first two poor kicks he seemed to settle into the game okay. Like a few have said already I would be looking to keep him for at least another season as a rookie. Gives back up in a couple of spots. It is actually a decent achievement that he has been able to do some okay stuff in defense at AFL level after not ever having played there other than as a ruck dropping back behind the footy in the WAFL.

26 turning 27.

Which is fine, he’s spry and a fantastic mover, I’m not really concerned about his age, it’s just funny that Lyon consistently references him as a young man.

yeah the incident was worthy of punishment, but this is an example of why the AFLPA are uncomfortable with the way fines are used by the MRO/AFL, something that typically doesn't get a lot of sympathy for fans. the aflpa is in the right imo
yeah it should scale with a min and a max and based on percentage of annual base wage or something. However they calculate wages for free agency would be the same way they should calculate the base wage for fines
