I do not think Federer will win it this year, lack of match practice will really matter when it comes down to the business end of the tournament. Lets also remember last year he wasnt as dominant as usual, still recording 10 losses during the season.

Agree, I'll be taking the field into Serena Williams. Her broken heart (sob sob), will get her fired up and focused. Hits the ball too hard for most still.

Multi's the way to go in the early legs, laying some of those that start favourite in their matches, but struggle early in the year (Kuerten used to be the best to bet against, Ljubicic more recently, Hewitt this year).

federer should really breeze through the first four rounds in all honesty.

ive predicted fed will face 1st round-hartfield 2nd round-john isner, 3rd round-verdasco , 4th round berdych , QTR- Gonzalez, SEMI- possibly 1 of nalbandian/djokovic and the final could be anyone of nadal/roddick or murray.

Berdych on his day could pull off a suprise but has a shocking record against the master on all surfaces.

Fed killed the Aus Open last year as he didnt even lose a set all tournament. Even if hes struggling a bit, he may lose a few sets but i expect him to take it out. Only way he wont win it imo is if he retires sick. For the womens, I reckon Henin will win, but not convincingly. She didnt get her chance last year because she didnt play.

My prediction for Semis:

Mens : Federer, Nalbandian (if injured still then Djokovic), Youzhny, Roddick

Womens : Henin, S. Williams, V. Williams, Kuznetsova

I dont think lack of match practice will worry Federer he will be able to cruise through his first few matches and will be in fine form by the time it gets to the serious end of things. Interesting that the last two years Fed's opponent has been very unexpected before the tournament with Baghdatis and Gonzalez so maybe being the first major we will see another surprise finalist.
