Tbh I'd be very interested to see how be would go at a club like Carlton for a year. Can't see it happening though.

Either way James is a gun and if he thinks he can go on then so be it. Good luck to him.

This exactly. Could be a good fit providing some much needed grunt and giving Judd some space. And if he feels up to it good luck to him! TBH I would love to see him get an assistant coaching role with us in some defensive-midfield type capacity, but after the way we discarded him...

Interestingly on SEN this morning James manager said that Carlton made contact with them, and that James hadn’t considered the option of playing on next year with another side.

I got the impression that it’s now more likely than less likely. If he does, what’s that tell you about the Carlton hierarchies’ belief that Brock McLean has the ability to play 22 games of footy per year.

Jones would have been a better fit at Carlton I’d have thought??

It really wouldn't surprise me. It would suit Carlton's quick fix, ad-hoc approach to recruiting down to the ground.

I think they will be playing different roles.

McDonald will add some experience in the team that we seriously lack behind Judd and Scotland. "IF" he plays next year it will be as a pure blocker for Judd and as a hard midfield tag.

McLean was brought into the side more for his clearance ability around the stoppages. Fingers crossed his body is right after his hip and knee surgeries this season and he can play a role.

It is a shame you guys wont get anything for McDonald, and I would love to see him running around for another year. He has much respect around AFL circles and that can only be a good thing for a young list.

Why give game time to, and develop your own young mids like Ellard, Gibbs and Robinson when you can give up pick 11 for a broken down McLean and a 34 year old???

Funniest thing I've heard in ages!!!!

Seriously, Carlton are going to start looking like our B-Team soon. Can we offload Spencer, PJ, Meesen and Newton while we are at it? Maybe we should have kept Miller and Bell on the list so Carlton could offer us another 1st rnd draft pick?

I'd be furious if i were a Carlton member right now. Has crazy Vossy taken over the recruiting down there???

We were interested in him as a development coach, not a player. Swan has dispatched it anyway.
Would be an interesting choice, not the kind of player who screams coach IMO but who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
