Preview Changes and pre match discussion - don't care who we are playing as long as Wardlaw is captain next week

Out: Hall, Drury, Spicer,
In: Corr, Zuurhar, TT,
Sub: Howe

Harvey can wait until after the bye....
Who will Corr play on. Pies have two talls in forward line. Sometimes rest a ruck. McKay to Cox and Logue to Mihocek. Rest are hybrids and smalls. Corr is redundant. They will smack us around with pace which we lack. Spicer will probably stay in despite my misgivings as Ratten specifically mentioned him.

McKay-cox
Corr- mihocek
Logue-Johnson

Goldy head to head with Cameron in ruck

Ziebell on mcreery
Lmac on elliot
Bergman on hill

Most teams play 3 tall defenders and 3 tall forwards

We’ve typically gone shorter up front due to injury

R1 - no McKay or Corr, only Logue (played Bonar as the second key defender) - 22 shots for 82 points conceded (plus won the game)
R2 - Logue and Corr, no McKay - 22 shots for 72 points conceded (also won the game)
R3 - Logue and Corr, no McKay - 25 shots for 80 points conceded
R4 - no Logue or McKay, only Corr (Bonar as second key defender again) - 27 shots for 107 points conceded
R5 - all three play - 42 shots for 152 points conceded
R6 - all three play - 27 shots for 97 points conceded
R7 - all three play - 29 shots for 139 points conceded
- Logue swings forward about halfway through so it's really 16 shots for 81 points in a half with all three, then 13 shots for 58 points in a half with just two.
R8 - McKay and Corr only (Logue plays but goes forward) - 24 shots for 64 points conceded
R9 - McKay and Corr only (Logue plays but goes forward) - 35 shots for 135 points conceded
R10 - McKay and Logue, no Corr - 23 shots for 93 points conceded (won the game nevermind)

Part of this is a product of us simply facing better teams/forward lines when all three of McKay, Corr and Logue have played and its clearly a smaller sample size compared to just two talls, not to mention that the three talls isn't the sole reason for those scores conceded (ultimately if the guys further up the field can't stop the opposition from getting it and moving it forward, there's only so much you can do as a defence)

I put all those caveats on to say this overly simplistically - we've been competitive in 6/7 games with two tall defenders compared to 0/3 with all three playing back. We look far better with two key defenders, two medium types in McDonald and Ziebell (who plays taller) and two creative types as a back six.

If the Pies beat us, it won't be just because Ash Johnson or Brody Mihocek or 100 gamer Mason Cox outmark Ziebell a few times

Beautifully said. Corr to the VFL is a must. Or drop McDonald.

What it ultimately comes down to is corr vs Ziebell vs McDonald

There were times on Saturday were Ziebell had to play talk on McLean or ladhams

Pies have - mihocek, Cox, Cameron then a mix of leaping dangerous mid sized fwds

I’d prefer corr plays 2s but can see why he might be picked this week

Corr would be in for hall, essentially the changes at the top of this page

B: Corr McKay Ziebell
HB: McDonald Logue Bergman

With Powell rotating back there also

Sheezel could still also rotate back there for stints if the ball isn’t going in the front half

TT in for spicer/Drury can also play back there

Yo
Out: Spicer and Hall
In: Zurhaar and Corr

Thomas in also if cleared by Todd and co

Cooper Harvey could come in for drury
U
Corr is pretty much our quickest player. He had the fastest speed of the game in both the Saints and Poort games.
Even a broken clock can be right twice per day - he's done little to impress in 2023 - he can have a few weeks in the VFL.

Anyone know of or have 3 tickets spare they're willing to sell for Sundays game?
General admin is sold out as of earlier tonight.
AFL members can only buy 1 ticket.
Can private message me directly.
Update.

Just need 2 now.
Would he happy to buy 2 off anyone you know is selling or can’t go anymore.

Worst team to come up against after gaining some confidence. We could leak a lot of goals out the back the way we defend and their kamikaze in your face style defence and attack. N.Daicos could go nuts. Can't see Larkey being competitve against Moore and anyone of their forwards could kick a bag.

If we are competitve in this game we have turned the corner.

Mcreery is faster than anyone on our list - he’ll destroy Jack
Jack can pick up Johnson

Well someone has to say it... OUT: Bailey Scott

Let's be honest, the backline mentioned above could be vying for the slowest in AFL history. If I was the Pies I would be targeting Jack's man as much as possible because he isn't athletic enough and he plays off his man.

Just tried to get tickets....All sold out...
Spoke with the club and they don't have an answer yet. They are waiting to hear back from Collingwood on the away team ticket allocation. They will tweet or email when they know.

We will probably need to line up early to get in GA if there isn't an allocation.

My dad is being nice enough to give me his ticket…. The problem is that I’ll have to sit with Collingwood members LOL

He’s a weapon, at time. However, he doesn’t perform his role.

He takes the second option too often for my liking, by which time he get's caught or having to make a rash give off that ends in a turnover. 10 years ago when we first started chasing him he would have been fantastic for us on the forward line.
