I can agree on riley and kerridge. Lyons has shown plenty

Lyons has shown a bit and was rewarded with 3 games in 2012. He will be looking to build on that in 2013 and I hope he does. However he is not so talented that he can push out any of the incumbents right now.

He has done very well for a pick #61... He keeps up his form and he will demand selection until he can cement his spot in the lineup.

Well - the thing is you always have your cake and eat it too with Petrenko.

You always name a best 22 that the selectors would pick - then give reasons as to why Petrenko shouldn't be in the side and won't make it as an AFL player. That way you are covered both ways.

That's the difference between what I think the selectors will do - and what I would do if I were in their position. I always aim to be clear about the difference. One is with my biases excluded, the other is with them given heavy weighting.

Nutta is a player who can come in later in the year and still produce at the same level. Time to use his spot to give Crouch a go.

Love to see Lyons given a shot as well, he's had a few moments at AFL level that have really impressed me.

I'm also a fan of Riley, but I can see that he has the limitations that posters like Vader highlight.

What AFC needs is a feel good story, which will be Bling, who will come in this week and not get dropped the entire season.

Given Brisbane's forward structure I don't think that we need to go in with a third tall down back, with this in mind I would make the following changes :

Out - Matty J, Martin and Otten ( not one tackle between the 3 of them last week
In - Tambling, Crouch and Pig-Dog

Re Otten I know that he has his fans however his pace, mobility and lack of pressure acts is a real concern, personally I do not believe that he will be at the club next year

I suggest you re-watch the Essendon game, as Otten wa nowhere near out worst. eg. Leaving his man to desparately spoil an Essendon forward who got on his own.

More interested to hear why you personally don't think he will be at AFC next year. Are you just guessing/making rumours, or do you have some substance to this?

I heard that on the radio this morning - glad Crouch will be in, worried about Lynch - don't doubt his talent, but he seems to be left on the half-forward flank and forgotten about it our games, then dropped after a couple of matches. If we're going to bring him in I hope we've got a clear plan about how we want to use him.

Coach Brenton Sanderson is remaining tight lipped about the likelihood of fancied midfielder Brad Crouch making his AFL debut against the Brisbane Lions this weekend.
Crouch featured prominently in Adelaide’s pre-season campaign, but was squeezed out of the team to play Essendon in Round One. The 19-year-old starred for SANFL team West Adelaide on Thursday night, amassing 21 possessions, seven marks and four clearances.
Sanderson said Crouch remained “in the mix” to take on the Lions at the Gabba on Saturday.
“I loved his (Crouch’s) game for Westies last weekend,” Sanderson said on Tuesday.
“He did everything right to put his name in front of the match committee. We’ll select the team tomorrow (Wednesday) and Crouchy will be right in the mix.”
Luke Brown, who injured his foot in the loss to Essendon, is expected to make the trip to Brisbane, while forward Ian Callinan only needs to get through Wednesday’s main training session to prove he’s recovered from a knee injury.
“Ian trained really well yesterday (Monday). After tomorrow’s main session, I’m sure we’ll have a clearer picture about him but it looks like he’ll be right in the mix too,” Sanderson said.
“Brown will be okay. He had some pretty severe bruising in his foot … and if there was a game last weekend he wouldn’t have played, but fortunately for him the weekend off over Easter has allowed him to heal.
“He should be right for this weekend.”
Josh Jenkins sat out Tuesday’s light training run, but Sanderson said he was confident the imposing forward/ruckman would be fit to play.
“Jenkins jarred his wrist quite badly in the game against Essendon. He trained yesterday and will train fully tomorrow. There’s no reason he won’t be available for selection this week,” he said.
The majority of players will be given an opportunity to respond to a disappointing display against Essendon this weekend. Sanderson said he expected only “one or two” changes to the team to play Brisbane.
“A lot (of players will get second chances). You can’t go through a whole career without playing a poor game. You can’t be consistently bad and keep getting games though,” he said.
“If you get a game this week coming off a bad one, you can’t afford to have another bad one. Some guys went back to the SANFL and really played well and that will be the dilemma for us.
“We’ll have to make some tough calls at match committee this week.”
Another standout in the local league last weekend was Tom Lynch. In a greater midfield role for Glenelg, Lynch picked up 30 touches, 11 marks, 11 clearances and kicked 1.3
“Tom’s going to play a lot of footy for us over this career here – I’m really confident of that. It’s just where he fits in the make-up of our team,” Sanderson said.
“Ricky Henderson, Lewis Johnston and Tom Lynch are similar sorts of players – that 190cm, running half-forward, but Lynch went into the midfield for Glenelg over the weekend and played really well. Maybe, we can look at him as a taller wingman, or as a guy who can play across half-back.
“I do really like him. He’s a utility for us, who can play a variety of roles. It’s good to see him in form and he’s an important player for us.”

We lost to Collingwood at home, Hawthorn twice and then Sydney at home on the big stage in a final. Not a lot of evidence to say we're good in situations that present actual challenges.

Don't mind Lynch playing in itself, but I just know we'll ignore him on the lead every time which will be frustrating as hell. Though a big reason for that happening last year was the Tippett vacuum so there may be a glimmer of hope.

Walker + two effective leading forwards really should be a dream forwardline.
