Is Shutts breaking some sort of embargo by making these announcements? $10K fine on the way?
No law against the journalists breaking the news if they can get it. On the other hand, if the AFL identifies the person who leaked it to them then that's where the blood will be spilled.

Wasn't McKernan injured with a hand or something? Seems an odd choice to replace Lynch to begin with. He is certainly not the problem, though I'd understand if we a left a tall out of the team against GWS.

Why is Tom Lynch being dropped? I thought he's been quite good - especially v Dogs...other two games not really given an opportunity...
Team balance for mine, not a reflection on him.

Tippett is our only true marking forward.

If Walker is going to play like a medium sized player, that gives us Walker/Lynch/Porps who are all medium sized forwards.

If Lynch ends up dropped, it will complete my frustration with how he's been handled so far. For mine he's been the find of the season so far, certainly the find of the preseason, and hasn't put a foot wrong on-field. Yet we've played him as the sub once and subbed him off another time, in the first three games. Surely there are others worthy of being dropped before him?

Otten must be a certainty to be dropped. Hasn't played a good game yet (including NAB cup). IMO the coaches got it wrong by playing him round 1. Shaw should have got the gig. He's quicker, taller, more athletic, more intensity, more skillful and being a left footer creates a good point of difference. Shaw was consistent right thru the NAB cup and when he wasn't selected went back to the bays and played consistent again, often in the best players.

Lynch would be incredibly unlucky if he gets dropped. If we could see stats per minutes played he'd be right up there. When he has had a chance he's presented well and even on the weekend when we'll playing crap he was reasonably still quiet but kicked his reliable 2 goals per game.

IMO if Lynch is dropped it'll be because of Walker. Lynch and Walker are both one paced (particularly Walker) and when Tippett is up forward too we look very slow. Because Walker was so bad in this area on the weekend, the coaches will probably think we can't carry all these slow guys up there. But they don't want to drop Tippett or Walker so Lynch it is.

Very much feel the same, but a lot depends on who comes in for him. If it means we get a look at another player then fine, but if it's just Hendo in then that kinda ticks me off.

Agree... I fear he may be dropped but will be Walkers replacement if he can not improve his workrate. He could probably use a full game playing out of the goalsquare

Yep. Especially when Tippett goes to the ruck... our forward line stucture fails as Walker is leading the line- his contested work still isn't up to it yet. If Smack really is in then it'll allow us to have a better structure- 2 genuine marking targets who can both ruck and Taylor plays more a roaming 3rd tall role which seems to be his go at the moment.

The official team, from Team Thursday:
B: Shaw, Rutten, Martin
HB: Reilly, Talia, Smith
C: van Berlo, Dangerfield, Mackay
HF: Vince, Walker, Petrenko
F: Porplyzia, Tippett, Callinan
R: Jacobs, S. Thompson, Sloane
Int: Doughty, Jaensch, McKernan, Wright
Emerg: Henderson, Knights, Symes
In: Jaensch, McKernan, Shaw, Wright
Out: Johncock (corked thigh), Kerridge, Lynch, Otten

Lynch is neat, composed and solid, but doesn't impose himself on a game of football. Can see the rationale behind him being left out, team balance.

Jeeeez, Lynch is unlucky. Would have been nice to see Kerridge have another go as well. But, at least Sam Shaw gets a go with Otten out and Jaensch has a chance to cement a role in the backline with Stiffy out.
