And explain to me WHY THE F Hartigan is getting picked ahead of Butts? We wanna Seymour Butts.

Crocker looked to be playing as the deepest forward most of the time, so I can't fully blame him for his performance given we didn't give him any decent chances to impact the game.

Hamill for Brodie Smith for mine....How he's not more under the Adelaide Big Footy blowtorch more on his 2 dismal efforts in 2020 amazes me...It appears in the main he's gets no scrutiny because he's a board favourite?

If one player needs a message/kick up the ass it's Brodie.

Brodie Smith is a bit of a mystery. All the Bigfooty ex-spurts have called for him to be moved into the midfield for as long as the eye can see. He looked great in the pre-season and has turned in two shockers. Is it the changing roles of our midfield, is he actually a half back flanker or is he still recovering from the CAMP?

The bigfooty exes have also demanded that the Seed be moved to half back (except for Mark Bickley who has always thought he was at half back) .......and he was terrible in defence against the Pear.

The exes have demanded we play only one ruck and a smaller forward line. Now some of the same exes want to bring back Frampton or The Berg?

Nicksy, please stop reading Bigfooty, half the posters live in a nursing home, half live in a mental institution and the other half are still in primary school .

He definately needs a fair old kick.. but he hasn’t had any real massive form slumps in his career that I can remember... maybe they are thinking he‘s just had two bad games that are a long time apart and he should bounce back pretty quick?..

No Gibbs or Mackay is a positive, along with Keays, Crocker and Ned not being given the Pyke special and dropped after one game.

Our lack of midfield depth is showing though.

If Laird keeps playing like he has been, I'd be inclined to drop him before Kelly and then bring in someone who can kick (i.e. Sholl). Right now Laird is neither shutting down his opponent nor giving decent drive out of the backline.

Can’t remember when, but there was a bit of play where he got pushed, fell down and just laid there while play went on. My initial thought was that it was the weakest thing I’d seen in ages. There was nothing obvious, not hit high or hard, just went down and stayed there. Could be wrong and he was injured somehow, but it looked absolutely terrible.

It’s almost like he’s lost all confidence over the last year... and you can possibly almost pinpoint when his loss of confidence all started..

it was in a game last season when I think it was Motlop made him look like a traffic cone in defensive 50 and then kicked a goal.. really made him look totally ordinary and a few port players took notice of it and ran over and really got stuck into him about it.. They were laughing right in his face... his facial expression at the time was one of utter embarrassment and despair..

At the time... it looked like it cut him pretty deeply.. he’s been very ordinary for nearly two seasons now though..

Its over -it's all gloom and doom and we'll get the spoon.

Yes our personnel are ordinary, but our effort was even worse. That can improve quite quickly and we play a young side that we've always matched up well on and are strutting around like king d!cks after just 1 win, against a disinterested West Coast. Gold Coast are nothing if not flaky for most of their history, and AFL history is littered with sides who have been thrashed one week and have a 100 point turnarounds the next.

If we can get our heads right and play somewhere near our (limited) potential, we can give this a shake. Not overly confident but a little bullish about this game, more than last week anyway.

Kelly is not that old, right now he is playing a role we don’t have a lot of players suited to. If Kelly doesn’t play I see Doedee being restricted to more of a lockdown role, which doesn’t seem optimal to me.

If Kelly remains in the side, we need to find another role for Brown.

Does seem strange that we're usually soooooo reluctant to play rookies and now we draft a skinny tall who'd be the least suited to play games early and he's straight in

Maybe neither will be playing. Butts gets a run in the scratch match to make case for next week while Hartigan sits out in case of a warm up injury?

My interest for this season lies in finding the pieces that make up our next premiership puzzle.
McAdam, Hamill, Scholl, McPherson, Schoenberg.... I want to see them all this year. If two or three prove they can play at the level, the year has been worthwhile

Just watched the suns game. They are quick and applied immense pressure to West Coast. Don't think we'll be able to handle that and their spread from the contest.

How good is Rowell?! Already close to as dominant in the afl as he was in the u18s in his second game. Strong, skilful and smart. Lock in a brownlow or two for him.
