He really doesn’t...and saying he gives effort is not a sufficient rationale for selection.
Whether he’s being played out of position or other factors are at play he simply hasn’t shown enough to say he’s worth persevering with.
Definitely out of position.

Lacks forward nous which stengle has in spades. Stengle probably runs less than half as much as Murphy but knows where the ball will be and is far more dangerous.

Murphy too caught up in chasing the man and is getting led everywhere.

Forward pocket not his future.

Huh?

No Gibbs, Hartigan, Seedsman, MacKay, M Crouch.

In 4 games we have seen Jones, McHenry, Hamill, McAdam, Fogarty, McAsey, Stengle, and Frampton.

What are you talking about?
Walker, Murphy is what i'm talking about. How many more performances of shit before they are dropped? Is there a number or are they just pidgeonholed for the rest of the year regardless of performance. Can put Lynch in that category as well. Just seems certain players are more likely to be dropped than others. It stinks.

Jarrod Lyons, 10 + clearances

.

I am on record saying I don't rate Lyons. He has improved.

And the decision to move him on as we have Sloane an B Crouch who are similar player types.

That decision has not aged well.

You would take Lyons over both guys now. But no one would have suggested that at the time.

I disagree, Lyons is just about the same player he was when he left here. He's just found a niche that he couldn't here because of Crouches and Sloane being very similar. I was also comfortable with us taking a cut price for him, just because I didn't really see a long future at Adelaide, I'm still comfortable with that.

It hasn't aged well though, as I could never have imagined Lyons outproducing (ok, not by much, and probably due to being in a good side) Brad Crouch. Shows how much we've fallen.

Still, I think we've lessened the chance of Jarryd getting 10+ clearances. Matt was really in his own league of terrible when it comes to our three main midfielders.

We are currently rebuilding our club from the ground up. There is worse things to reward than selflessness, effort and bravery.

Murphy won't survive long term, but we're probably waiting on the draft to truly replace him. The cupboard is rather threadbare at the moment.

In the week where Matt Crouch and Seedsman were dropped?

It is the wrong hill to die on, friend.

To fix the rest you fix the midfield first. We know Tex is on thin ice and Murphy goes when Stengle comes back.

Lynch is harder to judge IMO. He works hard and provides options upfield, often taking a decent lead up mark. It's what happens next.

You're not going to drop everyone at once, we actually don't have that many guys left to pick.

So you'd drop Keays/Crocker after 2 games, the latter in a forwardline that doesn't see the ball. Lynch is working up and back, his disposal has been woeful though.

Matt HAS NOT got his hands dirty this year so far. We had to drop a midfielder, and he is the least flexible one of the "names" so he goes.

It's pretty much par for the course for you though.
Think there will a consistent rotation or Brad and Matt in and out of the team. Reckon both want out and we want to develop youth while still showing they are best 22 for a bit of a draft pick.

I do wonder who they sit on Neale. I'd run Jones with him, or Neddy. Tough ask for the kids but it'll give them a huge learning opportunity to see what one of the best mids in the game does

I'm not sure they do actually, but I'm all for a rotation if they do.

I disagree It was the right call at the time.

We finally start seeing us play some of our young guys and you want to bring back Lyons and CEY?

No thanks

It's a good call. Thar or either McHerny or Keays for me.

Do we have a reserves game against Brisbane? Will Matt play in it, would love to watch that game.

We would barely have 16 players to play a scratchy

2 unforced changes from the last 2 weeks.
Tbh the changes help my bet on Brisbane so I shouldn't care but if your gonna make changes you don't go half baked. Should have been:
Out: Seedsman Murphy Keays Walker. Know these changes will be made when they can't not be made in a week or two. Why wait to that stage?

Because for the 4000th time Keays needs a few games to see what he's got.

And it's 3 forced changes and I reckon Atkins if he kept that form was 4.

The thing is, by making those 2 changes this week it gives us an entirely different look in the midfield. Judging by Godden and Nicks, we will go a lot younger in there this week which hopefully means only 1 of Sloane and Brad in at once.

I wouldn't call either Matt, or Seeds forced changes. About as entrenched as it comes in this club, moreso than Murphy or Keays.

There is no harm in giving Keays more game to save his career. Make the call in 3 more games, especially as he could find a niche as a run with player. I'm comfortable with giving Murphy a role no one is going to succeed in this year (i.e. don't waste a good player there), and Lynch is pretty low on the drop list. I'll be very excited for the day we abandon the bullshit that is the linkman role, but it's a while off.

Walker not being dropped is the only thing that stops this from getting a 10/10 from me this week with changes.

Keays makes more sense actually. Big acid test for him

Neale will get plenty of it still, but it's about limiting the effectiveness
Keayes is my bet.

Play the man against the team that threw him out and give him an important role.

Might be just the kick he needs to reboot his career.

I hate that we never seem to do that but other teams do it to us all the time and our ex players seem to turn up with extra relish to punish us.

Like why not play Frampton against Port??

That's what I would do anyway.
