And here I was thinking Andrew McLeod was close to best on in our 2003 Pre-season Premiership win and certainly featured prominently in the whole series?

I must have been mistaken I guess.

But no on checking I wasn't...He actually won the Michael Tuck Medal for the M.V.P. of the 2003 Pre-season series..

The Colonel Sanders is usually pretty well up on these kind of things?

McLeod was just better than almost all other players in the league. Was absolutely robbed of a Brownlow in 2001 when he got no votes in a 37 possession game in Rd 22 and lost by 2 votes. Reckon he only got 1 for a 35 possession game a couple of rounds earlier vs North too. Even Aker admitted it.

Got 0. Roo, Stevens and Perrie all kicked 5 and got all the Brownlow votes. Macca was robbed

look at the no.1 a guy we gave up for nothing, and then proceeded to draft his like for like replacement

not exactly a joined up approach
Nicks wouldn't have traded Greenwood ......he paid the price for some poor TPP decisions on other players

Greenwood, and to a lesser extent Keath (although the emergence of Butts helps soften the blow there), are the ones that shouldn't really have been let go, considering we weren't going to get anything close to fair value for either

Both were chasing Superannuation Contracts ......and given the rebuild, I understand why we were happy to move them on ......but Greenwood is exactly the type of mid we need, and has another 2-3 years in him

Theo saying Walker and McAdam are fine, but Smith and Kelly didn't train and need fitness tests. If they need a fitness test in April I'd say they're both out.

Out: Kelly, Smith
In: Worrell, Murray

Bring Hamill up to the more attacking half back/wing role that Smith plays. Worrell goes back in the Hamill defender role, Murray takes Kelly's lockdown role and his height also covers their talls.

Mcleod played in 3 grand finals. 2x day & 1 night

best on ground in all 3. Now, that’s a big game player

Both IMO will play well until the end of their contracts for their new clubs. Greenwood in particular is one of the key pieces to an admittedly sketchy Suns side, and Keath would slot straight into our current 22 (but would maybe not allow opportunity for guys like McAsey and Worrell in the coming weeks)

But yes, we obviously wanted to fast-track the rebuild. Overall I think we've mostly had good judgement on the guys we've moved on (Jenkins, CEY, Brouch, Hartigan, Atkins etc)

Then there was the 1998 prelim where he went next level. IIRC he first hurt his knee in that game.

Did the Crows offer him 3 years but he wanted 4? Or was it 2/3?
I loved Greenwood, hoped he would stay. His effective mongrel makes McHenry look like a fool and the Crows miss his clean hands, extrication skills and tackling.
Was chasing 4 years .....IIRC Gold Coast Contract is 3 years with an option for a 4th

We offered 2 years and a low ball salary

GC offered longer term and more money

The best outcome more recently was McGovern. We would've kept him, but the result was significantly better than what he's delivered at Carlton.

Lever was a bad loss but we were compensated fairly.

We miss Charlie a lot.
Tbh the McGovern deal always looked pretty good. I know he was one of our X-Factor forwards, but we got more value from him than we got for Brouch hahaha

Charlie might be the biggest loss of the last decade or so not named Dangerfield, he'd improve our whole team so much (let alone our forward line)

Lever has taken a couple years to get going at Melbourne due to injury and form

With that said I don't believe Lever is a $800k+ a season defender
