We ain’t winning a flag this year and the only way we win a flag in the next couple of years is if amiss becomes a big dog fwd and we have a Curnow McKay type combo ( not as soft) in Treacy and amiss.

For this reason amiss shouldn’t be dropped
Only change id make is switta for Dudley and then Sturt in for Voss and young for Ras when they are ready in a couple of weeks

Jaeger came on, we started finally winning the clearances and he had 8 disposals and a crucial goal. What did he do wrong?
Not so much as what he did wrong, but where we need to get to.

Cant have too many slow guys in vs Hawks, therefore sadly JOM misses out.

Utter madness dropping Voss over Amiss and flies in the face of rewarding performance. A club that gifts people games is a club without standards.

The clearer message to send to Amiss is that his current output isn't good enough, and he needs to earn his spot back. That's what strong clubs do, build a culture based on earning your spot off performance rather than being gifted a spot on potential.

Amiss' ceiling is higher than Voss, but right now his output is lower, and we aren't a rebuilding team anymore, so we should pick on output.

Trying to find positives for Jye but it is a struggle
  • Misses more than gets with simple set shots
  • Can't seem to get clear of his defender on a short sharp lead. Tracey has no issue.
  • Hopeless in a one on one when the ball comes in
  • Long ball coming into the pack (happens repeatedly), most times doesn't seem to be able to get his arms up, light years away from taking a pack mark
  • Many occasions looks very low effort when required to chase
  • Puts his hands up behind his head and gives the appearance of being gassed when he probably shouldn't be
Not everybody makes it.

It’s pretty obvious Amiss has the ability. You don’t just fluke two years of 35+ goals in your first two seasons. I think it’s a mental/confidence thing more than anything.
2024 - May
Walyalup: Jye Amiss (49), Josh Treacy (44), Matt Taberner (31)

I wonder how much he is being targetted at the moment. I can't find the equivalent stats.

I get the feeling the percentage would have dropped off.

I think Jyes more reserved demeanor and how he portrays lends itself to his oppo thinking they can rough him up as of now his skills can't overcome it.

The oppo prob don't rough up Treacy or Voss in the same way I don't think

Couple of things that really piss me off, names for examples only;
  • Bailey gets possession and is running out of left half back on his natural side and not under massive pressure, handballs to a team mate ahead and close to the boundary who has no left foot, forced to kick under pressure, goes anywhere. Kick the effing thing yourself Bailey,.
  • Luke Ryan gets a mark or free at right half back, no-one mans the mark, there is 30m of clear ground in front of him, but he refuses to move a step. Waits an eternity and then hits someone up with a 20m pass. Why not just GO and force someone to come at you, create a bit of something, many options can open up. This happens EVERY time and drives me nuts.
Our coaches are as dumb as dog shit.

Spot on.Frederick can't or won't tackle.Quick and strong but no intent.
Seen he provide many tackle during his career. Just seem he like many of our players are just not consistent.

And this is why the coach needs to take action if he can or he must choose to resign as coach

If the players never showed ability ever then that is simply the Reccruitement department

But every one of our players in a number of games have shown talent.

Some are losing their confidence. Some jsut lack effort for every game or even every Qtr

So Frederick can tackle. he like the rest of the team chooses to not perform.

At the ground on the weekend, I saw several occasions where Jye was clear of his man on the lead, but the kicker decided to ignore it in favour of going long to an outnumber against us instead.

I was practically screaming at Freddy in Q1 to kick it to him.

Also he’s far from hopeless 1v1.

The rest all valid at times.

He would look better if had Young playing. We let Johnson kick inside 50 far too often, and he is woeful most of the time.

Too tall, no pressure on oppo coming out of our forward line.
Sydney waltzed it out.
Drop Amiss, and make Treacy & Voss the forwards, with the resting rucks coming in at times.
Need smalls that ****ing tackle
Yeah Treacy and Voss. Wagner I think has actually played as a small forward, problem there is he's doing a good job in the middle.
I'd move Banfield out of the backline back to forward line/wing and use Walker/Aish in the backline

I'd love to see the league ladder on ignored leads..

Quite often Amiss looks really gassed

Does he have a small tank or is he just not prepared to chase like say Josh or Voss?

This.

He’s running all game to lead. Gets ignored. He has a huge tank/workrate
This..

I go to every home game and the amount of times he is leading and gets ignored is ridiculous. People calling for him to be dropped have no clue. The guy didn’t just become a dud in one preseason. Some of the best key forwards in the game have gone though the yips at times in their careers. He’s not getting dropped because he is working hard just being ignored. (We need to fix this)
Yes he should have kicked that goal on the weekend, but he did kick a fairly difficult goal earlier in the game.
I have no doubts he is going to be a gun oh and he’s only 21 peeps.

He should be dropped for the sake of selection integrity. If you can play bad for a whole season and still hold your spot, then the message that sends to the guys at Peel is that they are wasting their time trying.

And not even just for selection integrity, it may also be exactly what he needs to get better.

I'm no expert on the stat front, but how has Amiss been fairing with goal assists? Kind of feel like it wouldn't be so grim for him to be scoring so little if he was helping set up other shots, but is he even playing much part there?

Ranks 14th in the team for average goal assists and 15th for average score involvements, which is the worst out of all of our forwards.

I’m not going to write Amiss off because clearly he has the talent and I don’t think his debut season was a fluke but he hasn’t been that player for a long while and people who are minimising his lack of input as just being ignored on leads have their heads in the sand. It’s clear he either needs a role change or needs to go back to the WAFL for a bit because him continuing to have little or no impact on a weekly basis is not beneficial to anyone. I also still think we are too tall at the moment and if I’m dropping a tall, on current form it’s Amiss.
