The other side of that equation is that Jye seems to have developed some bad habits. Firstly he decelerates before the ball gets to him at times, allowing his defender to impact the contest. Secondly, he doesn't seem to want to take the ball in his hands, opting to try to mark on his chest. Again, this allows the defenders to impact the contest.A lot of our players don't have the cohunas and/or skill to kick it to him. Let's face it when they do it's either too high or in the dirt or to the defender's advantage..
FmdLol it’s almost too evil …. even for me
Jye Amiss = Jack Anthony
I wouldn’t say it’s common but it happens more than people want to admit players burst out of the blocks and then never reach that standard again
Anthony looked like a superstar in his fist 2 years at the pies , similar type of player to Amiss as well
The worst kind of players too because you often overpay them based on their early form and end up with an overpaid list clogger
We’ve had a few @ Freo
Connor Blakley
Lachie Weller
Daniel Gilmore
Conversely players can start fast hit a flat spot for a couple of years and then re-ignite but accuracy aside Amiss’s inability to win a 1on1 contest deep even if he gets a mismatch is alarm bells for mine
Knowing Serong will cop a tag 100%, why not plonk him in a forward pocket and try something different in the midfield - he might even snag a couple of goals he has shown a knack for it previously

JOM also played better than our whole midfield. Using your logic, Serong, Andy, MJ can get stuffed?Your dreaming. JOM came on in the 4th quarter and had more impact than Erasmus. Erasmus still has low game time, why? Apparently he's young and full of vim and vigour?
I would use Suban as a closer analogy. It's just hard to believe for me that Serong is getting worn closer than a cheap safari suit each week, and we don't have Erasmus playing the same role Subes used to play.I think the Sutcliffe/Sheridan level is the ceiling for Erasmus and probably Johnson.
They're both lucky that Fyfe, JOM, Young and O'Driscoll have missed a lot of footy this year.
No current season stats available
Can I do back to back previews or does that guarantee another pathetic selection committee decision?Team we're short on previews for both this week and next week vs Collingwood, who's keen to have a crack?
Win Prizes - Season 2025 Game Previews
Hello my purple friends, another season has quickly rolled around and that means we have another season of Game Previews to look forwards to! For those new to the concept, here's the skinny... Since 2017 many brave yet foolhardy souls have been the standard bearers for the Fremantle Football...www.bigfooty.com
Whilst I understand that, ultimately a forward is there to finish his work, and Amiss simply isn't doing it. You have to question why his lead isn't often honoured? Do the players have less confidence in him than in Treacy or Voss?My concern is the other message it might send to him. At the moment he's doing a mountain of work leading up the field and getting ignored time and time again (people are right that it's staggering to see live how many times he's metres free of his man only for his teammates to not hit him up - he would rack up the touches in a team like Collingwood or Hawthorn who bite off that kick instinctively).
So he does all this selfless running for the team only to be told his reward for sticking to his role is to go back to the WAFL, then what happens when he comes back? Why would you want to be the one doing the sacrificial leads to make space for the other forwards behind you? Why would you want to be the one who blocks Treacy's man so he can run out on the lead? If the only thing being valued is the amount of times you get the ball then everyone is just going to sit back wanting to be the one sitting in the hotspot where we always (infuriatingly) kick it high and long.
For years I said I thought Tabs was a net negative to the team despite kicking goals because he had no concept of working within a system with other forwards and would invariably drag his man to the ball even if it got in everyone else's way. We have much smarter forwards now who are much more capable of working as a cohesive unit and I'd be wary of sending the wrong message to those who are working hard but not getting their 'lick of the icecream' for a period.

We get it, you don't rate him. But at least come up with better garbage than this
Even an unofficial preview would be great! Can I do back to back previews or does that guarantee another pathetic selection committee decision?
Not paywalled, JLo is publicly signalling Amiss needs to do more but not currently going to be dropped.

‘We probably expect more’; Longmuir puts heat on Amiss
Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has conceded the team needs more out of misfiring forward Jye Amiss as he teased a return for Hayden Young within the next fortnight.thewest.com.au
This video backs it up. I assume the article is based on the video.
Switta -hopeful to play this week, if he gets through training then I expect we will pick him.
Voss in general has had reduced impact over the last few weeks as well, he's still doing some nice things like Amiss but I also personally believe our best mix will be one less tall whoever that is.Voss missed a sitter too. A few of the players did, but all the blame is being put on Jye

Pat’s had less of a role since Sean’s been back, but yes, it’s much of a muchness between him and Jye whenever Sturt is available.Voss in general has had reduced impact over the last few weeks as well, he's still doing some nice things like Amiss but I also personally believe our best mix will be one less tall whoever that is.
I doubt there’s been a player in worse form who’s played every game in the entire competitionVoss missed a sitter too. A few of the players did, but all the blame is being put on Jye
