By the Port game we could have Naughton, English, Libba and Jones in the side. We should be good enough to win it even without half our backline.

Not saying Gardner is going to be AA Fullback, but his only game last year and first this year were against top 2 offence juggernauts. Poor bloke will probably play against Freo as well then get dropped for Port and Carlton.

Calm down folks. Not liking the tone in here at all.
I believe the cells are full, young Mutt. Don’t you threaten us young blokes.

I’m sitting with Scrag now, neither of us are offended by Doggy so don’t punish him. Not a bad bloke considering he umpired for 15 years.

It's how he played more than who he played. The game last year was probably the worst he's ever played and he has a lot of contenders. Let Chol bully him and squibbed a contest with Ginnivan

I was actually thinking last year's game was the Cats, but alas it was Hawks. That actually makes me more comfortable with our current predicament knowing that nothing short of a close to healthy best 23 full team defence keeps us competitive against the best sides.

Do we have the slowest midfield in the comp. Only Ed when fully fit has elite speed,

We don't (Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood, Richmond and maybe others worse) but it is very noticeable with Richards struggling with his body how much we are lacking

Rest Bont, Libba, Kennedy, Naughton. Tank this game and prepare with fit players to spank Port. By then Timid will be fit and maybe we get back JOD.

Thankfully to Gardner's credit, although Treacy, Amiss and Voss are very good players, don't particularly play a good offensive style to get the ball to them though. Rank 9 for points for, rank 2 for points against is the reason they're a top 4 team.

Not like Hawthorn who are rank 2 points for, rank 6 points against.

And while he lost a few contests (and any 4th choice key defender among a team in the league would), we know that's not characteristic of the game that he played, because he didn't squib any contests vs. Sydney and wasn't bullied any more than how Curnow bullies an average team that is either poor or so poor via injuries.

To forum members who watch a lot of VFL,
Keen to hear comments about AFL listed players who haven’t debuted yet and who might be ready to step up into the senior side.
E.G L. Kennedy, and Charmichael.

Are they ready, tracking well or struggling at VFL level?

After being dudded in the fixture this year with so many 6 day breaks, including some for Saturday games with teams coming out on a Thursday, this feels weird. For those, we only had to have 4 sleeps until we got teams released.

Here, we have 7 sleeps until teams get released after our game. It feels weird.

Strained neck is promising. I wouldn't have him down as an out next week yet.
i had a really stiff neck years ago when i was playing and in a boundary throw in someone came over the top of me and crunched my head sideways and my neck made a cracking sound like when a Chiropractor cracks your neck... everyone around me thought I had broken my neck but it was bizzare... just like when a chiro cracks your neck i felt instant relief... like literally felt a million times better... all the stiffness and tension in my neck was gone.

Stevo saying English is a chance this week, trained well on Saturday.
Jones will be back and I think VDM will get a recall.
If English is back, it'll be interesting to see what combination of Emmett, Lewis, Croft & Smith that Bevo decides to go with.

I'd almost consider leaving English is as mainly a forward for just this week and playing Smith 60% of game time as a pure ruck. Bevo won't do it though.

Emmett has had some exposure but he needs a lot more time in the VFL.

Confirmed Naughton to the ruck.

Lennedy is hit and miss needs to find the ball more consistently

Carmichael is miles off AFL football from what I have seen

Carmichael has a whole career ahead of him but it looks like we missed out on one in Lindsay. Looks a gun already.
Yep those pesky WA sides in the past 2 years

Reid instead of Hynes and Lindsay instead of Carmichael and we are looking instantly better
