Don't know about tagging, but I would prefer someone actually stand next Danger at the stoppages this time. Our defence at the clearances last time against Geelong was hopeless in the first half.

After he gets off the chain we'll move Jong onto him.

I procure superlative exhilaration and jubilation from the linguistical rebukes of the self professed intelligentsia that proliferates though the context of threads within Bigfooty.

The arrogance of self appointed dietys of the English language and their aptitude in attempting to belittle and beguile the minions flabbergasts myself and renders me in awe of their genius.

I can only survey such grammatical pulchritude and ponder if the author of such balderdash believes his own literal superiority.

You obviously work in the public service or politics.

My take on selection is Hamling and Cordy come in and one of Stringer or Dahl.

Haha nah just went into professional mode like that cats fan that has been told ten times to F off but continues to deliver linguistic offerings of a exulted level and challenge others intellect due to not being praised and reigned in glory for his obviously masterful thought process.

We have a few of our own that use grammatically inflated language in an attempt to raise their own battered egos and challenge anyone they deem below them. Wet cough cough dog cough cough.

Now i know who you are, everything makes sense. Frasier Crane. :D

It actually has it purpose- working out who is full of shit and who isn't. As soon as I see phrases like 'in the fullness of time' 'at the end of the day' 'productivity' 'kpi indicator' I realise the person just like the sound sound of their own voice and I can stop listening. Once you start doing that life becomes much more pleasant.

Seriously under appreciated word pulchritude :sunglasses:

Consistently solid. And given the injuries, that's a fair effort!

Please, understand the context in which my post was said; I'm referring only to observable output and in that context Geelong has been brilliant in patches.

The fact that Geelong hasn't lost many players through injury has certainly helped us be the best we can be, and contributed towards us playing brilliantly in patches.

Conversely, it is also why the worse than ordinary performances against below average sides have been extremely disappointing. There's no excuse really, the boys just played some shit footy.

I thought that was all undeniable, but you obviously have a contrary view to everything I've said, even when viewed in context?

The fact that Geelong and Western Bulldogs sit on the same points on the ladder definitely says a lot about the dogs' resilience to withstand adversity. None of this I have ever denied.

All I am discussing is this week's game - something which, at the initial time of my OP in this thread, conveyed how taken aback I was with the initial doom and gloom. I was expecting to read more positivity, leveraging from the dogs' 2016 resilience.
There reaches a breaking point though. And many of us feel that Saturday was such occasion. You can only overcome so much before it takes its toll.

May I suggest wank word bingo? Google it. We played it in a ph conference with our American manager. Juvenile but fun.

And MD it's spelt 'deities' you illiterate flog. ;):D

Big stage, Friday night, no chance, injuries.... I think Stringer will have his best game of the year. Suckling and Dickson as well. Crap weather may help us.
I see the boys being up for this game.

I have bucket loads of empathy for the two players who suffered season ending injuries. Redpath can't take a trick with his knees and would be devastated from an emotional sense. Wallis' leg injury was simply horrendous - the physical pain he would currently be going through would be somewhat unimaginable, as too would the emotional side of things.

Once again, I came here to discuss the game this week. Short of actually saying nothing at all - there isn't really a way I could convey genuine empathy to a supporter base about their club's current plight on the Internet without also coming across as potentially condescending and disingenuous. I guess I simply cut to the chase and that made my demenour appear rather abrupt.

As for the pub in question, it sounds as though you're suggesting that many of the regular patrons whom frequent that establishment would rather let their fists do the talking rather than respond intelligibly. If that is the case then it says a lot more about them than it does about me.

Not having been to the establishment in question, I have no intention to cast any aspersions about it or its patrons, even in light of what you've said. But, what I will say is that the only people I've ever found myself in a physical altercation with, and these cases were very few and far between, were individuals whom which appeared on the surface to possess a combination of having an agressive temperament, questionable intelligence and very low impulse control.

I still have enough faith in humanity to believe that most individuals, when presented with reasoned and logical verbal dialogue - even if they struggle to follow or comprehend - wouldn't allow themselves to respond in such a manner as to invoke a physically confrontational response from me. I wouldn't do as much, so I guess it's only reasonable to expect the same from others.
I will qualify what I said so you don't take what I said out of context.

In isolation, no. I do not think that any supporter would or should be happy with any loss. However, a resignation of the futility of a task can somewhat temper one's expectations of an ultimately desired result.

So, when one observes the doom and gloom combined with the facts that; a) your last loss to us was by 57 points, b) your injuries are worse than the last time we played and c) the game is being played at a ground which is essentially the antithesis of what Etihad Stadium is.

I get that you didn't like my comment, but I hardly think it was remiss of me to suggest what I did, keeping in mind the facts presented and the context in which it was said.

Given those 'ins' - is it your view that your best 22 is will be stronger than the team put on the park earlier this year?

With regards to Etihad and Kardinia Park; just ask Adelaide supporters what they think of the place. "Trumped up suburban shithole" and the rest... it's not a pleasant place to play footy and your form at grounds other than Etihad has no bearing on how you'll play there.

As for our last meeting being "one epoch" - I beg to differ. History suggests we have the wood on you; hell - there was even a thread created after our last match bemoaning this very fact!

Of course, every match is different and our form has been shaky since we last faced off. You seem personally bullish about your club's chances to come home with a win. That's not a bad thing at all.

Strangled Cat, I am happy to discuss the game with you.

Last time we played, the Cats had come off a surprisingly easy win against Norf, courtesy of Norfs injuries and lack if a bench in the end (the fact that Norf were well on the way to beating you, before the injuries hit is also worth debating, but not now.)

Meanwhile the dogs took on Port away from home, for a really ferocious game, in which many said Hawthorn would have struggled and probably would have lost, also debateable but not now.

We were simply a very tired young team when we played the Cats, we had lost Dalh and just lacked energy. For that matter Port was pumped by Freo after playing us, perhaps testimony to how tough that game was.

After that game, the players were filthy and took it out on Sydney who we played away and won, Sydney went on and beat you, also at your home game the week after.

This incredibly young team was 8 months younger than the Saints in the weekend. Injuries have hit us hard, as well as some out of form players. But, I wouldn't get too complacent if I was a Geelong supporter, because this new team of Bulldogs doesn't like to lose (remind you of a previous team?)

Logic would say that we should lose to Geelong on Friday, but logic would also say that a team of youngsters propped up by Boyd, Morris and Picken shouldn't be beating the teams we have beaten, finalist experienced teams such as Adelaide, Eagles and Sydney.

My take on our ins and outs? Dahl back is huge, he is winning our B&F this year, taking Redpath out of our forward line will make us more unpredictable, especially if Boyd brings the ball to ground for others. Libba will be better for the run and him and Dahl are tackling machines.

Like Geelong, our VFL side plays the same way as the seniors, so each player knows their role.

If Geelong treats us too casually you will lose. You haven't faced the best of the Bulldog breed yet.

Danger and Selwood had a field day last time. Couldn't hurt to have picken sit on danger surely Bev?!

Sorry bud, but don't think Stringer is playing
Ok thanks. I still think we will be up for this game.
Many of the boys know they were down Saturday night. They would have been a shattered lot even today, but by Thursday they will be starting to build. We keep in control, we play smart and to the condition then we will have more desire to win in the end.

Out of curiosity why do people think we have tailed off since the bye rounds?

Tougher games this side of the season, travelled more (we didn't leave Etihad until round 9) and injuries have taken their toll on our list. JJ, Wood and a few others have had disjointed seasons and probably aren't running at 100%.

There are lots of factors.

My feeling is that it is very difficult to develop a pattern of play when we are continually changing the team every week. We've used 36 players the equal most in the comp this year, despite the fact we have been winning, if we can 2-3 weeks of no injuries well be fine but what is the chance of that happening? Even 1 match with no injuries would be nice.
