Campbell hasn't done a lot at WAFL level yet, but he has played I think 3 games, so he would be match fit. He just offers a lot more than Murphy does, and he is different to our other options up forward. Whereas Murphy is too similar to McPharlin and Johnson, in that he doesn't offer anything different.

I think we should give Campbell a shot, regardless of WAFL form. It's not like WAFL form has been important for some of our other inclusions.

i know what your saying, but gee murphy could have kicked 3-5 yesterday, i know he didnt, but i dont think that he was that far away. i love campbells agression though, and we all know that the eagles are weak as piss when it comes to physicallity, so maybe it might be worth a shot. but im not sure we should drop murphy when he wasnt THAT bad, he needs confidence. does anyone think that a forward line of the following could work?

FF. peake Mcpharlin Murphy
CHF mundy Campbell hill

with thornton being a defensive forward if required? the only thing is that for campbell to come in and murphy to stay in, we would have to drop someone else, and im not sure who would be the candidate

Murphy got the nod over Campbell for whatever reason - now it is important that he gets at least 3 or 4 games in a row to establish himself.

I don't like the idea of in for one and then out.

Same with Hinks - he should hold his spot now, regular game time at the top level is ultimately the only thing that can prepare you for the pace and hardness at this level.

I agree with Campbell over Murph regardless of WAFL form. There's no real downside to it. You know you're gonna get more aggression and heart, and its not like Murphy has been kicking bags or providing that much.

Murphy has had almost more chances than anyone to establish himself in this team. He just doesn't work hard enough to deserve anymore chances.

I tend to agree, No changes. Smurf didn't do too badly, I think he offered a bit up forward, finished with two, lead well, dropped a couple of marks he would normally have taken, and allows Pavlich to move around the ground in bursts. Don't like him in the midfield though, looks totally out of place. The only concern, is perhaps a backup ruck against Cox is needed. A good oppertunity to blood Clarke, but who misses out!

I would choose Campbell over Murphy but he has done nothing to earn his spot.
They gave the nod to Murphy so now he should be given max 5 games in a row to prove himself.

Agree with pretty much all that has been said but I'll post anyways!

Thornton did better than i expected, my heart was pumping any time he went near it though! Like him better on HF/Wing.

I too prefer Kiwi to Murph but he did ok last night and Kiwi isnt doing much in the WAFL.

Only other changes would be through injury, if the Egurls play two ruckman they may be tempted to bring Clarke in but MJ played his best game for a loooooong time.

Do they have a second ruckman? Seaby is a spud, Naitanui is injured and Clarke demolished Sullivan in the WAFL last week. Cox collects numerous possession, but few are actually damaging. Let Sandilands take the centre bounces and push forward and Johnson go head to head with Cox around the ground.

My thoughts exactly. Johnno is more than capable of doing a job on him around the grounds.
I wouldn't make any changes if it's possible, unless there's an injury. As much as I prefer Kiwi over Murphy, I'd leave Murphy in the team for the next 3-4 weeks and see how he goes. He did have Craig Bolton on him [who shut down even better forwards] so I'm prepared to give him a benefit of the doubt. Thornton didn't do much wrong and he kicked a beauty, so leave the Albino in the team for now.

Did Palmer come back on the ground after getting injured?

Don't think he did, but looking okay post game doesn't necessarily mean anything. A couple of years ago Lenny Hayes hurt his knee and played on then it was still sore 2 or 3 weeks later and decided to get a scan and had done his ACL.

Palmer = Out (He could do with the rest i suspect too, along with the knee)
DeBoer = In

Deboer is hard enough at it and will love the scrapfest that is always a derby.

Johnson will be fine to run with Cox I imagine, though cox or embley with the ball doesn't concern me... back pocket handball receives wont win a game. Its Kerr and Lecras we need to shutdown. Would love to see Hayden on Lecras but we need roger to be dictating the play.

We just need to play hard running aggressive football straight up the corridor.

The amount of pain Palmer showed didnt look too good for his knee.
An like others have said with some knee injuries they can be up walking around and think there good enough to play on after a small break.
The pain he showed when it first happened is what has me worried even though he seemed fine walking around the ground after the game.

I'm worried because its similar to what happened to David Hille, seemed to be in heaps of pain... came off when down the race and was walking around after that...... he did his ACL and is gone for the year...

Palmer injured went off and then was seen walking around... but i guess we won't know until they release the results from the scan

Yeah didnt look good at all. Happened right in front of me and Rhys was in a bad way. Some stupid guy was yelling abuse and telling him to stop being a pussy. Tell ya what he nearly copped my handbag to the upside of his head!!!

Murphy needs to be told you are playing the next four (without the fear of been dropped) for your footballing life

yeah but the doctors looked at hille and determined that he had 98% chance as having done an acl. the doctors looked at palmers knee and they all started smiling, i think palmer was actually a little embarrased by the whole thing as it turned out to be nothing bad at all.... will probably play this weekend

No forced changes.

However if Palmer does not come up, De Boer gets his debut!

Pav's 200th boys....gotta win for him please!!!

I'll be down south next weekend, Dunsborough way. Anyone know a good pub to watch the game at?

Channel 7 news says Palmer likely to miss...

In: Clarke, DeBoer/Walters
Out: Thornton, Palmer

Whilst DeBoer has been more consistent, I would love to see Walters debut in a Derby. I think he could add a lot to our forward setup.

HF: Mundy MJ Hill
F: Peake Murphy Walters

With Pav, and Sandi rotating through, Hayden staying back on LeCras.

Not yet IMO.

Spent a fair bit of time on the bench yesterday. Did some nice things, but still needs time to get his fitness up.

What about Broughton? Will he need to earn his spot back again? He did enough to get another game last time he played.

If we like Roger playing off the HFF, would Broughton be the right match-up for LeCras perhaps? It would seem a waste to stick Roger back that far deep after his efforts yesterday.
