I reckon in 2 or 3 years Jenkins could be the monster forward Tippett was paid to be but never became. He's much more athletic, is a better kick and plays smarter. He just needs more experience playing the game to get better with his marking and ruck work.
That said, he needs to learn his limitations. If he can't kick goals from 50m, then he needs to know that and work around it - by passing to someone who can. It was just flat out embarrassing last night watching him drop short twice from the 50m arc.

And yet usually he comfortably kicks them from 55+. Not sure what the wind was doing or if he just didn't hit them well but usually he's a great kick from that range.

Maybe Jaensch or Vince should run past him for the handball? That would probably work well!

He's having a decent run in the mids. What are you talking about? Oh, you mean in the AFL, not Sturt? In that case, we'll have to agree to disagree. Martin is not, nor will he ever be, one of the best 22 players on our team list. On that basis, he can play every game of the season for Sturt, unless injuries mean that we're down 6 or 7 midfielders.
Your certain knowledge is entertaining. He hasn't had a chance, and in a couple of full games has shown plenty. We will never know if he doesn't get a good run.

I heard the connection on a couple of them and said straight away that they didn't connect right and the ball won't make it.. He has shown he can kick a few monsters.. Coming along nicely though Josh, lots to learn and is only around 17 games in to his career..

I would hope they still think that when it's only round 6 and we are 2 wins outside the top 8. People on here talk about developing a winning culture, how on earth does thinking like that help? Ridiculous thing to say.

I've got some sad news for you BACCS, we are not going to win the premiership this year. It's not going to happen.

That's not being pessimistic, it's not being negative or anti age....it's being realistic.

We need to take some massive steps forward now and invest some quality game time into the inexperienced players or accept we will take a massive step backward next year when those senior players retire or get delisted.

Thank goodness McKernan is a serviceable ruck.. because he's about as useful as **** on a bull when standing in the forward line. Wasn't he supposed to be Tex's replacement?
Yes, he's taken over from Tex as our second ruckman

I think you fare better when you don't watch the games

Haven't we been developing a winning culture since 2005?

He's played 17 AFL games. Granted he was injured in some of them and started as sub in some of the others. At no point has he ever been close to becoming one of our best 22 players - and at the age of 24yrs 6mths, with no further scope for improvement, he never will be.

If you watched the game you would have realised that Jenkins played FF as Tex's replacement. McKernan played up the ground when not rucking and took 5 marks with 12 disposals. Do you have any idea at all?

I'm still waiting for Smack and Jaensch's 8 goals. :P

You said the EXACT same thing about Jaensch and here we are round 6 and he has played every single game and is firmly inside the 22. So forgive us if we ignore your ignorant repetitive commentary.

I posted before the game that my main concern is how unsettled our side is both on terms of personnel and structure. The loss last night was disappointing but there was enough there to work with IMO and we should, as much as possible, try and settle the side now. McKernan must stay and we need to persevere with JJ as permanent forward. Only changes should be forced ie injured players out or automatic selections coming back from injury.

He's kicked a few from there this season, so I think he can do it. But as Brereton mentioned he doesn't always seem to strike it quite right, which isn't surprising for someone who hasn't spent long playing footy.

Wright on the other hand is a total liability as a forward because he simply cannot kick anywhere near far enough.

The idea that Jenkins took Tex spot as the key forward and then SMACK took Jenkins second ruck spot never occurred to you?
Even if you look at it that way (and I agree it is logical to do so).. Jenkins was still spending a large part of each game in the forward line, contributing at least one goal every game so far this year. Smack may have taken over the role of 2nd ruckman, but he is/was also supposed to be contributing to the forward line - otherwise we'd only have 1x KPP forward in the entire forward line. Smack's contribution to the forward line last night was almost zero - there was that comical foul up when he ran too far and screwed up one of our best scoring opportunities of the 3rd quarter and his outstanding tackle on Franklin, which should have been HTB (but was inexplicably ruled ITB instead). Two contributions, neither of which contributed to Adelaide's scoring.

A settled side is good, but getting your better/more important players back into the team is a much bigger priority.

Crouch, Laird and VB must come back in if/when fit.

No doubt you missed his great handball to Kerridge in the goal square which resulted in a goal. Did you see any of his lead up marks and link up play forward of centre?

Agreed. That's what I was referring to when I said forced changes meant automatic selections returning from injury.
