Preview Changes V GWS

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Now is not the time to be making wholesale changes or to be resting players.

We should win this game easily, but screwing around with resting players or flooding the team with newbies, is just asking for this game to blow up in our face.

This game should be treated as a danger game. Any team that is still ahead of drug-pumped Essendon deep into the third should be treated with caution.

And can we stop asking for MacKay to be dropped please. What's so wrong with 22 disposals, 6 marks and 4 tackles?

Would be great to rest Dangerfield if we can. He's picking himself up slower and slower each game. Would be a bold move at 2-4 away from home though, even if it is GWS. I'd settle for 50% forward and subbed off.

Mackay... Geez. Some of ou,r best bits. Of play are when he's got them ball but he is making so many errors.

I see him, Vince and Porplyzia all in the same boat at the moment - average form, down on confidence, working hard but nothing much going right. Every so often they shows a glimpse of the class act they are but not often enough.

Laird in for Tambling.
No Hendo, Lynch is playing his role better.
VB one more week.
No other changes.

generally agree with this ^

although i'd prefer Laird in for Porplyzia

and Tambling given a chance further upfield as one game isn't enough to settle into the pace of it...
he was a late inclusion and that wouldn't be an ideal preparation for someone who wasn't expecting to be playing at all... would have been a perfect weekend for him to have a couple of friday night grogs and a shitty meal... Porps however is looking like the game has gone past him unfortunately...

Agreed I thought DMack had his best game for awhile and generated some run in the second half. That slip in the first qtr was crucial though.

Is Crouch ready to come back? I'd hate to see Lyons dropped, he seemed to be getting into the game when he was subbed. I reckon he should dye his hair blonde and his touches might get noticed.

Its GWS!!! (admittedly they pushed essendon for a while)

Don't drop anyone!

Senior players are appearing crap cos they didnt get enough games in preseason.

Now they're almost up and going.

Last thing you want to do is drop them! Then they lose a game worth of match fitness. Do the opposite would be best. Keep them in this week and ask them to bust a gut. Drop the rotations down if you have to so they have to work harder and get a blow out.

Relax peeps we're almost back.

O yer, one other thing.

On Lyons, look at the replay. One of the few people who went well in the first quarter / first third of the game. Just kept it simple, gave quickly and instinctively to the first option, pity a lot of other players dont try this! Wasnt danger like, but certainly wasnt poor either.

Only assuming/hoping Crouch will be available. I thought Lyons had a reasonable game though.

I agree with this. As much as I think Mackay is due for a spell, the side we put on the park against the Hawks was pretty good. There were no real stand out poor performances.

Give them another game to get some more form and gel and it may be better for the long run.

Dangerfield was pretty handy

Tough one for me. Did make a few errors, but he also did a few good things and I like his role as the defender standing just past CHF when we are up forward. Note that when he was moved there Hawthorn stopped running the ball out of HF as much.

Probably most likely to be dropped, as the incoming emergency this week.

Lyons needs another game, yo-yo selection policy is the best way to destroy a young blokes confidence.
He's earned a crack at AFL football as an onballer so we need to throw him in there at times and see what he can do.
Not the quickest but he has a football brain and normally takes the first option and that gives him an 8/10 straight away. Not convinced just yet but I do like his SANFL form so he needs some faith shown in him.
Hard to go from a SANFL team where you are the primary clearance machine to the AFL where you're camped on a forward flank (not your true position) and asked to make an immediate impact. Then you a dominated by the likes of Thommo and Dangerfield in the centre square so opportunities are scarce.
Lyons needs to find his feet and be given at times some responsibility around clearances where he is most comfortable.
Tambling on the other hand has had years to show his wares and his disposal is lacking.Bring Laird straight back in when he's recovered.

Yep, if Lyons is axed this week I will spew.
Would definitely like to see him get another go. It really depends how many have to come back into the team. On form alone he and Tambling are most at risk of being left out. Tough decision for the selectors.

My changes and team for this weeks game...

B: Ben Rutten, Daniel Talia, Andy Otten
HB: Luke Brown, Brent Reilly, Nathan van Berlo
C: Sam Kerridge, Scott Thompson, Brodie Smith
HF: Richard Douglas, Shaun McKernan, Jarryd Lyons
F: Jason Porplyzia, Tom, Lynch, Josh Jenkins
RUCKS: Sam Jacobs, Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane
INT: David Mackay (Sub), Bernie Vince, Matthew Jaensch, Ricky Henderson
EMERG: Richard Tambling, Jared Petrenko,

In: Nathan Van Berlo, Ricky Henderson

Out: Richard Tambling, Matthew Wright

David MacKay is next in line as an outs. If Brad Crouch is ready to go, he will come in for MacKay.

Well, no it's not.

It's a tough decision if they genuinely believe we are still a premiership thread and are going full tilt for the flag. INO, that's ridiculous as we will not win the flag this year.

If they want to continue to give failed players chance and chance - then it become a difficult decision. However, it become a very easy decision if they start switching their focus towards developing players and the future of this club by continuing to blood the younger players in games where the opposition is not as experienced as the rest.

Surely our mods should watch the games?!?!?!?

First Vader, now you....

I am starting to get the feeling that our mods are just internet geeks who don't even watch Crows games and moderate user content.
Let me reassure you that I attend every home game, watch every away game (rarely wasting time to post in game day threads. .. Only inattentive geeks do that) and when I can, and esp for games like last year's prelim, will travel interstate to watch a game most years.

Get off your high horse.

Yeah but we don't see you a 'true' moderator. We see you as a justice of the peace or a peace maker.

Do you want him to door knock carrying a special book ?

Maybe but as long as his introduction isn't....

Hi, my name is Allefgib and I'm here to talk to you about become a member of the Church of the latter Day Saints.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, just don't come to my door.

What's happened to Wright? Last year, he looked like he'd made the step from an average player to a good midfielder a but he's gone backwards, big time.

Just inconsistent like most of the midfield. Was good v Bris and up forward v the Dogs. I would move him forward in place of Porps :(

Ideally yeah, move him forward and swap him over with a different player as that is a good idea as that's where he first started with North Adelaide but Matthew Wright and Jason Porplyzia are very different players. Porps is basically a smaller version of Lynch. A Lead out marking forward who has thew ability to player much bigger than he really is.

If Jason Porplyzia is going to replace anyone in the forward line, it should have been Petrenko or now Jaensch.
