Speaking of Otten and him not getting any love/being underated, he features 4 times with his tackles in that along with being the second one on top with that Sloane tackle on Gray to make sure the ball didn't come loose and another where Mitchell got a small kick in which he knocked out of bounce.

He's great defensively and I don't understand why so many want him out of the side for the likes of Hartigan/L.Thompson.

I hadn't recognised Otten's excellent tackling until watching that video after reading your post - fair call.

What's so difficult?

Mackay is unable to break a tackle, beat an opponent, evade anyone, get out of a tight space...

Early days on Cameron but he seems to do this stuff for fun.

In all seriousness and disreagarding what WW has said, you know this isnt completely true. Mackay almost walks back into the side for mine. He's been very good this season by his standards. Why have Brodie Martin in the team for 'balance,' when you can have someone like Mackay. With players like Porps and Martin already in the 22, if Mackay needs to come in then a player like that makes way every time.

Put mackays skills with Martin's effort and bam! We all have the player we want.

No changes to a winning combo. This 22 deserves to play next week. If someone must come in then Reilly drops out. Martin and porpoise played very well in a crunch game. Lyons will possibly be dropped as he needs game time at any level. Charlie may come in to replace him.

Very few changes if any is my tip....only saw the replay last night, the key reason for the win was our pressure / tackling all over the ground. It looked to me as though Port are nowhere near as good as everyone thinks when under that sort of finals-type pressure. We weren't perfect by any means, but the intensity was right up there. LT did enough to keep his spot, as did most of the team. If Mackay's fit then I think Porps may come out - even though he wasn't bad. Lyons was pretty good too as the sub...made some good decisions and looks to be quite calm in traffic.

Once again opinions are not based on one play ......otherwise Douglas would have been playing amateur football by now ;)

I guess the notion of Thompson having improved since he was 21 years old in September 2012 is just impossible.

I really think we should rest both Walker and Danger.

If we do that, then everyone can be happy.

Rutten can come in, so can Mackay, and no more arguments.

This is why I should be on the selection committee.

Problems all solved!

Also of the belief we should rest at least one of Tex or Danger but probably both so they're nice and fresh for the next match against Hawthorn given we've got two weeks of just 6 day breaks.

The guys that come in will be doing their best to preform to keep this spot in the side and really, we shouldn't be relying on the likes of Tex and Danger playing to beat GWS and it would be very poor from us if we couldn't beat them without those two.

Obviously can't afford to not win this very winnable game but if we're serious about being a finals team, we should be able to do so without these two guys against a team like GWS anyways.

I was lucky enough to get into the rooms after the game and Danger couldn't walk up the stairs he had to drag himself but if he says he will get up I believe him.
There's almost never any doubt that he will get up from week to week, but what a lot of people are wondering is whether we should let him.

Think i have explained my reasons ....but again:'
1. He can't take contested marks
2. He plays like a 6 footer not a KPD
3. He has no body strength
4. In any body on body contest he willingly goes to ground
5. He's a stopper that can do a role as a stop gap .....but basically one of those list cloggers everyone hates

Sounds like Daniel Talia to me.
A defender that stops their fwd kicking goals.... geeze would hate for someone to play their role every week for us...

LT has come in for 3 of the 6 biggest games we've played since 2012.
He has performed brilliantly in all 3.

If that doesnt at least get him a spot on the list then fk me, what ARE we looking for?
Reilly cant even keep his composure in a 40 point win over a spud team, after 200 games.

My head says rest Tex.

My heart says play Tex so he has the opportunity to kick a bag, and repeatedly pummel Phil Davis into the turf/fence.

*Hot tip: E.Betts will break the league record for goal assists this week...

Rest Tex with 2 6 day breaks coming up, the 2nd against the best team going around.

Have you watched Mackay at all this year? He's cracked in just about as hard as anyone else on our list this year despite being tiny and a pure outside midfielder.

I find it amazing that people were all praising this guy's return to form, and yet he misses a couple of games with a concussion and all of a sudden he doesnt come back into our side. Ridiculous...

Mackay has been one of our best and most consistent performers this year, and has certainly been putting in the effort and laying some ripper tackles for the size bloke he is. He is vital to our side this year and in the 22 full stop.

I think Martin stays in. Have a feeling he is close to pulling a 25 possession 2 goal game out, his work ethic is enormous and is getting better week by week

Its a hard one. I've been one of his biggest fans on here of late due to the fact that he is finally finding his feet at AFL level and has been consistent to say the least. His gut running and effort he puts in is also ridiculous, something that you may not see unless youre actually at the game.

The thing is though, he's going on 27 and not going to get any better. He has played his role perfectly up until now, but with players like Hendo, Kerridge, Mackay and Laird, even Grigg and Cameron all on the outer an waiting to come back in, I'm just finding it really hard to continually play him over the likes of these other guys.

A great depth option nonetheless and someone probably someone worth holding onto for now while we lick our wounds from the draft sanctions. Is someone that can fill the void while we continue to test the water with the likes of Atkins, Knight, Batters, Kelly, Spina

Mackay is certainly having his best all-round season and should come straight back in.

We took a massive step forward this week. Our inside midfield strength on paper finally translated to the field in a dominant way.

After a relatively poor half defending their counter-attack and outside run, we (players and coaches) vastly improved in the second half and actually gave me hope we can limit the damage of skilled team on the outside who normally cut us up.

However, this leads to my point that our inside mids collectively are top 4 quality BUT we still need to add to our outside game. If only we had 3 excellent runners to add to the team across all areas of the ground over the next fortnight!!!

C'mon down Mackay (mid), Cameron (forward), Henderson (defence).

Why the hell are we still wasting games on Reilly?

Because he is one of our best players and has beautiful disposal and we are side desperately lacking in good disposers of the footy.

You might not like him but if you're honest about our midfield then Sloane, Danger, Thompson and Crouch all are great footballers but do not deliver the ball well at all. Crouch was brilliant at getting it on the weekend but must have stuffed up using it 8 times and so we can't afford to have players like Reilly and Smith who actually use it well not playing.

Any player who plays 200 AFL games (which is about 3% of all players) gets to that tally because of class. No one lasts that long unless they can seriously play and I find it sad that so called supporters feel the need to be disrespectful of any players who have given so much to our club over many years.

Get absolutely f**ked is he one of our best players.
Hes between 20th and 30th...probably closer to 30th at the moment.

For a 'good ball user' he has more howlers than you can shake a stick at.

Nobody is being disrespectful, Radar has been a good player for a while, but at the moment hes no good.

He has good footskills and good over head marking and spoiling ability.
He has average hand ball skills, decision making and composure.
He has bad acceleration, pace and tackling ability.

Hendo has equal footskills, defensive skills and marking ability and him covered in decision making and composure and has excellent acceleration and pace. As soon as he's fully fit he replaces Reilly IMO.

Yeah, no.

Rielly is absolutely cooked as a footballer. Appreciate what he has done, but watching him with the showdown (and the entirety of this season) the game has gone past him, for the good of the club, i wish him a farewell game but ultimately be depth for the rest of the season (and retired at the end).

There was a moment that summed up Riellys last two years against Essendon, when BT mentioned: Rielly this is the guy you want delivering the ball to your forwards, Rielly then proceeded to turn it over with a pretty average kick.

Thommo, Sloane, Danger, Crouch are all inside mids, you don't expect an amazing delivery and are going to have a few turnovers due to this, which is quite normal.
