So we should keep Burton because Hamish Ogilve and Justin Reid seem to be doing a good job ?

I am not interested in giving him credit for other people's work I am more interested as to .............

Who recommended/brought Matt Hass to the club?
Who brought Collective Minds to the AFC even after it failed in Brisbane?
Who brought in Kangatech this year?

Here's a hint, they are all the work of one particular individual.

I don't care whether he's an ex player or not, everything that Burton has touched has turned to shit and has potentially ruined our season.

Trying new ideas is fine, but the reality is that if they fail (and Burton now has three massive failures) then you need to be prepared to fall on your sword.

If this club was actually serious they would be asking some serious questions about his competence for the role.
"Trying new ideas is fine, but the reality is that if they fail then you need to be prepared to fall on your sword"

And what culture does that promote? Don't push the envelope too hard, only a little bit

Nah, he was better than Poholke. If he was fit he'd be playing. He's injured, probably a hamstring, and we lied and said he was managed because we didn't want to announce another hamstring injury.

I thought it was the other way. He's not playing in order to keep him fit, in a sense. We have identified that over doing it with underdone players increases the probability of hamstring injury. So we correct that, by controlling his loads.... and bigfooty loses its shit

nobody has an issue with the first part of what happened, more the being named emergency and since being named as hamstring awareness

This is the ultimate troll by port. A player that had done a proper hammy coming back earlier than expected playing against a team who seem to regularly under deliver on recovery times...
Or self troll if Wingard make his hammy worse by playing when he shouldn’t, in what is traditionally Port’s Grand Final. Little brother syndrome sucks sometimes.

So why was he named as an emergency?

If he's that underdone that he need 2 weeks off playing any football after just 2 AFL games, then he should not have been played in the first place. He should have been gradually ramped up via the SANFL.

Face it, he injured himself, likely a hamstring and we tried to cover it up. Call it hamstring awareness if you want. It's still the same thing. Games missed due to a hamstring injury.

Was he also responsible for our footy department's trading period and drafting - or only the stuff that hasn't worked?

Are we asking Pyke to resign too because of the GF performance?

Yes, Pyke will eventually get the arse if he doesn't produce a premiership, unlike our assistant coaches who will continue to "thrive" under yet another senior coach.

Welcome to the corporate world.

If I was working in a high end role and kept making bad decisions that were having significant adverse effects for the organisation I would expect to eventually be shown the door.

Were not talking about a few little mistakes here and there, we are talking about major stuff ups that have disrupted the season and embarrassed the club.

Burton's time at Brisbane was less than successful and failure has followed him here.

Brisbane dropped Collective Minds because some of their players weren't happy with it and they were worried that it was adversely effecting their player retention yet Burton comes here and next minute he pushing the club to adopt the same program that failed at Brisbane.

8 hamstrings last year and now 9 already this year all due to a fitness program that Burton oversees and is being run by a guy who was headhunted and brought to the Crows by Burton.

Kangatech which is heavily rumoured to be a huge contributing factor to our hamstrings this year another Burton initiative.

So if all this contributes to a wasted season and potentially wasting our last shot at a flag with our current list (if Sloane leaves) does that mean that Burton should get a pat on the back just because he tried numerous things that failed ?

How many more mistakes until he's at the tipping point?

According to Pyke the scans showed no damage, but he complained of soreness in the area on Sat morn before the game, and he has a history of Tendinitis, so they are resting him.
I reckon the Hamstring issues has gotten them so scared they are jumping at everything.

Putting aside the Ubers of the world - The difference is that in the corporate world companies are competing for larger shares of the same pie, while in competitive sport there is only one pie that cannot be divided.

Therefore there is more incentive to push the envelope in sport than in business, which has room for innovation but as a general rule a gentler evolution is preferred because pushing the envelope can lead to big problems if you get it wrong.

Competitive sport has a different risk profile. If you do nothing different to your opponent or even to what you did last time then you might have lost before the race even begins.

Pyke also said that Brouch didn't have OP a day or so before Brouch said in an interview that he had OP.

Apparently the crows thought his time at Brisbane was pretty good...hence why he got the job.

Well I don't know what they're basing it on because for those of us who can remember, Brisbane were an absolute mess injury wise when he was there.

I can still remember the meltdown on here when he was announced and can remember the ridiculous thing that Rowie said when he was trying to justify it to the callers and to Bickley, "he was working a tin shed at Brisbane Bicks, A TIN SHED" and was trying to hint that Burton's time at Brisbane was marred by outdated/poor facilities but it wasn't going to be an issue at Adelaide.

If Crowie supports him...I'm jumping ship

Depends what sort of due diligence Burton did on collective minds and North Melbourne tech.

My guess is not much.

"Aaaah look Bird says it's good so it must be good", Roo to the AFC board

This was interesting what Caro raised in her article about it,

"After the Kurt Tippett affair, Chapman established at Adelaide a ''professional standards and integrity committee'' and yet despite the radical nature of the camp — overseen by Collective Minds creator Amon Woulfe — the exercise bypassed the committee. Senior welfare staff at the Crows were also left largely in the dark."

So it looks like they either slid it through the back door or no one bothered to look into it before giving it the okay.

So let me get this straight.

Burton recommends Matt Hass to the club, Matt Hass has been failure yet it's apparently not Burton's fault for bringing him in.

Burton is the one who brought in Collective Minds (which there has been a shit storm about it) yet it's not Burton's fault for introducing it.

Burton brings in the Kangatech program this year and it has resulted in more hamstring injuries, but once again it is not Burton's fault for introducing it.

How are any of the above examples blaming Burton for other people's stuff ups ?

To me each of them are something that Burton has been directly involved in.
So was collective minds a faikure....all the players I have heard from I've said it's been really good...unless you believe Quitter Kane

Didn't Fagan recruit Brett? Does he go too?
