Win this ruck dual and we win the game.

Adelaide will not win the ruck dual. Naitanui is almost never beaten head to head in the ruck - the only exceptions being Sandilands and Goldstein. Naitanui is just too athletic for Jacobs; that showed in the first match.

Main thing for WC opponents is just not letting Naitanui get a clean touch every time, and closely follow players like Priddis, Shuey and Gaff out of the stoppages so that they can't get a clean tap and be off to the races.

Mostly agree, which is why I'd go Kerridge for VB - the defensive side of his game is easily on par with Vb.

I teckon Grigg coukd be a really valuable half back. However it is probably too late in the season and the games are probably a bit important for trialling. Cheney and Kedge definitely ahead if we were to deny VB his 200th, which we won't. Although, he could be dub for a couple of weeks.

He hardly beat Jacobs in terms of hit out numbers last time they played despite 'unfortunate' circumstances and besides we are a better clearance team.

Probably an unlucky Lyons.

Hendo sub.

Run Sloane & Atkins off the wings.

Would like to see kerridge replace vb on a hbf as gives us another midfield rotation... But doubt it will happen.

Yeh, he was the only one I could think of. Would be very unlucky, but I suppose that the better the team the unluckier the players missing out are.

Eagles won the hitouts by 20 in that match. Naitanui and Jacobs were close in numbers but Sinclair also had 18 hitouts.

Not disputing your logic.

Nicnat seems to destroy us everytime

Naitanui essentially plays as 2 players as he is a ruckman and a midfielder at the same contest.

Like he dis against Port Adelaide I'm backing Thompson to be a contested Animal.this week

Thompson is so hungry to play finals I expect him to be leading from the front this week

Sorry but Nit Nat is probably one of only two or three rucks who get the better of Jacobs (the other being Sandilands, maybe Goldstein in current form)...when is the last time Thompson played well where Jacobs was losing in the ruck?...doesn't have the defensive mindset/positioning required.

I don't think they will make the change, but would love to see:

CEY or Kerridge in, Thompson out...think CEY and Kerridge both offer more defensively and in spread, the Eagles dominated our midfield with run and carry last time we played

Lever in, Shaw out (surely this change is a certainty and Lever was just being rested)

Cheney in, VB out...Cheney because he will offer more in the air, helping as 3rd man up for Talia and Hartigan who will both have difficult match ups.

Jacobs is not as athletic but also a midfield option. Also, jj has been playing a bit more in the ruck in recent weeks & he is one of the quickest at the club.

They're a bit more even in the stoppages around the ground where it's body on body stuff, but I definitely think we should be setting up in the centre bounces as if we're going to lose the tap. Jenkins is probably better suited to take on Naitanui in the centre. He's unlikely to win the hitout, but he's athletic enough that Naitanui won't be able to just jump straight over him.

Nice calls but will never happen. I think at best 2 changes this week. Lever in plus a swap with one of the midfielders. Not sure which one.
Think Lyons will keep his spot.

Agree, except hartigan out, Shaw stays.

I think West Coast are the best team in the AFL right now, even better than Hawthorn (despite the recent loss to the Hawks). But I also think next week is our Elimination Final and we are also facing a team who is unbeaten at Adelaide oval. We lose that and we face the daunting task of the trip to Geelong where we have only ever won 3 games, the last win was in 2003.

North are in great form, cannot see them losing again and they'll teach the Tigers and Bulldogs a lesson. Geelong play a struggling Collingwood side next week and should easily win that one. So for us to get 8th we need to overcome some huge odds, and we haven't had a huge amount of success over the past decade in big games.

With a good long term weather forecast for Adelaide, that will suit the Eagles, they wanna finish top, we wanna make the 8 ..... we just gotta play our hearts out and I think we will. Going to be a tough one, and if we lose a heartbreaker by less than a kick we need to move on and focus on Geelong.

A win would be one of the finest of the decade for this team (The 2 best wins of the decade was Geelong 2010, Fremantle 2012 semi), giving the circumstances.

Hopefully Jacobs can put up a better fight against Naitanui this time as he was smashed last time (could have been because of everything else that was going on but I think Jacobs was struggling against some of the best rucks in the comp prior to that match). If he can at least make the ruck contests 50/50 then we'll be a hell of a lot better off then we were last time as it was Naitanui that tore us a new one.

As much as I'd love to see CEY return to the side as I really rate what he brought to the team, I don't see it. He had been fairly quiet in the SANFL the previous couple of weeks and then didn't get to play on the weekend as he was the EMG, I don't see how he'd leapfrog the other guys pushing for selection (as much as I'd like that to be the case).

I hope Brown gets up as I think he's really hard for us to replace. Basically got a first year player in Wigg who would be an offensive weapon but wouldn't be anywhere near Brown's level defensively. Martin who as much as I love him, shouldn't play in the backline other then when he's running from the other side of the ground to fill in a hole. Cheney who probably doesn't have the speed that Brown has to play on those smaller/quicker type forwards. Really don't have anyone that could come in and 'easily' replace him - at least that I see.

Would you try Cameron as a small defender if Brown doesn't get up?

I would at some stage, but not sure this is the right game for it.

Having multiple strings to your bow is always a good thing and i think he could be very effective as a backman depending on match-ups.
