Why rest Bruce now- we are having an 8 Day break. We have no back up ruckman. Naughton can’t be expected to do too much- he is only just coming back.

We play guys who have no future like Smith and Gardiner and deny good prospects like Schache and Young.

Exactly. The one game to get his confidence back.

Predictably laughable selections.

JJ and Bruce out is not the worst scenario.

West, Cavarra - tick finally.

Smith ? Please.

Le Young instead of Smith and Trengrove replacing Gardiner is the correct call.

Belligerent attitude by the coach is becoming a real concern for me.

Agree resting Bruce who needs to get chemistry with Naughton as they have hardly played together with an 8 day break I’m stumped. Cannot see what their thinking is.
A lot rests on our midfield as forward line is no threat and our backline is now compromised big time with no Cordy Crozier and further reliance on Gardner.

Yeah Crozier, Cordy and JJ out is bad enough. Replacing them with Hunter, Gardner and Smith is concerning. I really hope Richards ends up on the flank and Hunter on the wing. Odd team picked this week for sure
I imagine we stick with the wings we have been using with roarke taking vdms spot, Hunter will play on ball

I honestly do no care that Gardner is in.

We just had to pick a tall to replace Bruce at the bare minimum don’t care who we picked could of been Lewis young, sweet or Trengove but one had to come in to spread the defenders and chop out in the ruck for English.

Ideally we bring 2 in to replace the two talls going out. Happy to see hunter back and west and cavarra getting another crack but you have to consider your structure when selecting a team.

It seems like we all left our membership money in the club for Beveridge to take the piss

I like West and Cavarra getting a go but Roarke again?

By now he really should either be in the 22 or done. Same for Gowers.

Can’t help but think Bevo sees this year as a glorified NAB Cup and is just trying to bloody kids and give fringe players a final chance to make their case. It’s been very odd.

I am going to do myself a big Favour and I won’t be watching I would rather go blind then watch Ryan Gardner, and Roarke Smith running round in our jumper
Dogs selections aside, I've found this season less and less watchable with every round. I've been watching fewer neutral games every week, and switching games off far quicker, primarily due to the umpiring this year. I'm not really as invested in the footy this year for multiple reasons, which makes seeing team selections a bit easier to handle

Funny how the one time the match committee made good team selections - at the GWS match by bringing in 3 premiership players - we have our best win for the year and our best stretch of games for the year follows.

Then they tinker with it and bring in Gowers for his 185869th chance ahead of innumerable better options against the Gold Coast.

Plays an absolute stinker and nearly costs us the game.

They stubbornly ignore the bleeding obvious for another week and he plays another stinker the following week against Richmond. (Before anyone says, he’s not the reason we lost against Richmond)

Then they bring in poor Ryan Gardner after stubbornly refusing to concede why 99.99% of football people have been saying in each of his other games - that he is simply at an AFL standard player.

Gardner predictably is completely out of his depth and gives away 3-4 free kicks that lead to goals on his direct opponent.

And he gets another chance again this week. All while miles better options in Lewis Young and Jackson Trengove don’t get a look in.

Serenity now.

What the team looks like to me

Defenders: Keath, Gardner, Wood, Williams, Daniel, Richards, R.Smith (2 talls, 2 med, 3 small)

Ruck: English
Inside mids: Macrae, Bontempelli, Dunkley, Liberatore
Outside Mids: Hunter, B.Smith, Lipinski, McLean

Forwards: Naughton, Dale, Lloyd, Wallis, Cavarra, West (1 tall, 3 med, 2 small)

Am looking forward to seeing Richards in defense because he is looking more and more lost at half forward and wing. Happy to see Cavarra and West get opportunities, especially West who I think has looked good whenever he’s played.

Looks one tall short at either end and I don’t quite get the reason why we want to go small when we’re getting absolutely murdered in the air week in and week out. Lewis Young should be in defense and if not him then Trengove. Schache should be forward and if not him Lewis Young. Have tried the one tall option forward a heap and it hasn’t looked close to working. Naughton is better than Bruce and should provide more of a contest and bring down a few more marks but can’t see it working.

English looks absolutely cooked to and harsh to send him out as the lone hand again.
