Johncock was an easy call as he was struggling to get on the training park, Vince well Sando didn't even talk to Bernie through the process it was all managed by Noble.......

One has to think though if Sando got the Cats job would he have made some of the tough list decisions that Scott has on Chapman, Hunt, Corey and JPod all premiership playersv and couple absolute champions of the club

Key reason why the Cats went for Scott over Sando

Don't get me wrong I believe Sando can be a very good coach however I also believe he needs to find the right balance between stick and carrot
I don't think Sando is surrounded by people who can make tough decisions, noble probably the only one. I don't hold any hope for Bickley Clarke or campo, in the tough decision stakes.

No real problem with Radar coming back in, but it should have been for Porps, Lyon shoud've stayed. We now have two blokes with dodgy shoulders who can't tackle in a Showdown....doesn't fill me with great confidence. Just hope Podsy is over his hand / wrist injury too...otherwise we should have brought in JJ.

Sando did not talk to Johncock at all in his last season with the AFC either, no exaggeration, did not speak to him. Johncock was offered a farewell game but declined as he did not want anything "gifted" to him from Sando, particularly if it made Sando look like the good guy.

Yeah, its his major weakness, gets way too close to the players.

Agreed - he clearly plays favourites.

Porps had a fantastic preseason. I'm happy to back him in. If he gets dropped again, could be career over.

Reilly has missed a lot of football. Best of luck to him.

Kerridge was already a better footballer than VB last year, yet got dropped regardless.

Lyons is currently a better footballer than Porps, yet is treated with contempt.

Our selection is a joke, I'm seriously concerned that our coaching panel has learnt nothing from last year, and we're going to meander down the same path to mediocrity this year.

Talk is cheap, and for all of the claims that we'd identified the issues we had last year and weren't going to make the same mistakes again, we're not even two games in and yet we are bloody making them!

In addition to the goal kicking game, maybe we should have a sweep on how many chances Porps gets to stink up the joint before he's finally dropped.

So we pick guys on form in PS but now its the wrong move ?? Dont get me wrong Porps stunk it up but he gets 1 more crack, if he fails again then by all means he goes.

Lyons gets ridiculously overrated here, he came on when the game slows down and yes got a few good touches but alao some horrid ones. Very comfortable with selections this week but the pressure is on.

I have taken my medication and I will not mention again the folly of playing underperforming "experienced" players instead of "KIDS" (until next week's selection).

It is a pretty good team with IMHO nine of our best ten players in the team (Talia, Smith, Sloane, Dangerfield, B Crouch, Jacobs, Thompson, Douglas and Betts). Hopefully we will have a Bo Derek soon with "The Return of Tex". If we add Otten for Shaw, Laird for Jaensch, Henderson for Reilly, Lynch for Johnston and van Berlo for Porplyzia we will be better but it would not be a quantum leap forward. I believe that players rated 16th to 32 on our list are a similar standard at the moment. I would however prefer to go for the younger guy if it is a line ball decision.

My key concern is that the 22 selected are 100% fit. There are still question marks over the fitness of Rutten, Crouch, Douglas, Reilly and Podz. Teams that gamble on the fitness of players will be punished this year. It happened in round 1 and I see no reason why this will change.

I really hope that Porps kicks 5 goals. lays 8 tackles and sticks it up the cynics like myself.

I look at is as hopefully, Reilly allows Smith to move to a wing. Douglas back means Porps will play predominantly Forward
Yea I would have to agree with that. The Lyons decision I think was a matter of whether they preferred Lyons or Smith in the midfield or at least I hope that was the rationale. Personally I think Lyons should be in the side, probably playing a similar role to Wright and Porps as a 2nd tier mid / small forward. What surprises me based on the preseason is that Lyons was made sub over Kerridge - the sub is always dropped after a loss with Sando. Personally I would have kept Lyons rather than rushing Reilly back after such a long break.

Also to be fair to Jaensch, he hasn't done too much wrong so far, which makes it tough to see where Laird will fit into the side once fit.

Why didn't we just trade Lyons? We're not prepared to give him a prolonged spell in the team, let's give him a chance at another club.
Our obligation isn't to ensure Jarrod Lyons get's the best opportunities in football - it's to ensure we've a midfield list that runs deep. If he's keen to stick around (which he evidently was), we're absolutely right to keep him on.

Every good team should have quality midfielders on their team who knocking on the door.

Very unhappy with these selections. Dropping Lyons, to the benefit of players at the end of their line and underperforming is absurd.

We're only in round 2. You didn't honestly think we'd drop Thompson after one game?

The Porplyzia selection hurts us more though. He's been under performing way longer than Thompson and has to be first in line for the chop.

It's not necessarily Thompson, although it's a little deceptive claiming 'after one game'. There was an entire season of poor performance preceding it.

Still- Thommo, Porps, Reilly. I can't see that any of these will contribute significantly to our chances of winning any particular game at the moment. As such, I would think that more merit is in giving that game to a player who may contribute to future wins.

I'm really not that interested in how he went 10 years ago, though. On that criteria we shouldn't have picked Douglas either. Reilly's 2012 was strong for most of the season - yes, he had a couple of down games at the end but I don't think it was a trend. He had a poor start to 2013 before getting injured, I'll admit. I think he's got something to contribute.

Now why someone like Porplyzia, who hasn't been a good contributor for years, remains in the side while Lyons, who played his role just fine last week, drops out is a mystery to me.
