So according to that article Geelong pays a $300,000 revenue tax on $1.2 million profit yet Collingwood only pays $500,000 on $5.2 million profit. You don't have to be an accountant to know something doesn't add up.

Yes we all knew COLa was simply smoke and mirrors. It's removal certainly appeased the masses, and bedazzled some lesser club Presidents. But fundamentally, Eddie and co have successfully turned the focus of the equalisation debate away from the hard financial realities facing the poorer clubs, and put all their focus and energy into tearing down Clubs which appeared to be having success.

Why were the Buddy and Tippett deals all these clubs were thinking about? It was all supposed to be about revenue and equity wasn't it? But all we heard for months were complaints about the strength of team lists and recruitment bitching. List builds? How did this even get on the agenda. I mean how on Earth this well-meaning push for equalisation got railroaded into a witch hunt against expansion clubs I'll never know. Oh wait. Yes I will. Cheers, Colin. Basically saying Sydney have bought their success while Port have built it. What a load of s**t. Our first choice ruckmen are either a Canadian rugby player convert or an ex-Richmond reject. Our best player (Goodes) was picked where in the draft? I didn't realise we bought Goodes, Rok, Jack, Hanners, Rampe, AJ, Parker, Malceski, LRT, Lloyd,... It's obvious that Shaw, Teddy, Benny & JPK where torn from the starting 22 from their old clubs (NOT) and we've obviously paid for Buddy & Tippett not through careful list management and the retirements of a number of key players but 100% through COLA....

Just can't believe some of the crap floating around... Seriously. Frustrates the hell out of me because it just feeds the idiots idea that the false comments and "facts" given are actually true when they are opinion laden judgements based on nothing but a biased hatred for the club.

You have stretched my current understanding of what the word '"like" means regarding that heading to breaking point.

Following from my post yesterday it appears the cracks are getting deeper.......very quickly. Eddie Maguire is the tail that wags the AFL dog. Gillan is much weaker than Andy D and bullies like Collingwood are now seizing their opportunity. Funny that media and supporters venomous to CoLA couldnt see the real politics and power struggle behind all of this.

This is not a socialist push as implied in the article but rather a merger (or blurring of a few corporate heavies with state)......that is fascism my friends. Under the cover of the Essendon saga this will get drowned out but what we have here is the seed for biggest change to the AFL since 1990. A few influential people/clubs will soon control the AFL if they dont already. Hint it wont be our club or anyone from it!

LoL port pulling in 50K crowds and ends up getting some of the best payout during the first period of equalisation.

and what was port a part of? oh thats right the "working party"

meanwhile we don't have other clubs propping up crowd numbers like vic clubs yet still have the worst stadium agreement of any club outside of victoria (was worst, even more brutal then etihad prior to the previous renegotiation) all because eddie and *******s like Newbold don't give a * about actual equalisation only protecting their profits.

hell look at last years distributions the AFL gave more money to Collingwood then us
