Wazzas v Dragons FFC at Van Cortlandt Park

This guy went alright


Well wasn't that delightfully s**t.

We headed into our second straight home match of the season full of confidence, with #thestreak well and truly on and a Dragons side who has been our nemesis of late looking gettable, and standing between us and #1 position on the ladder after the first month of qooty. The Dragons were coming in off a loss however, and the reigning premiers were desperate to right the ship and allay any fears of a premiership hangover.

After a blistering second quarter saw us pile on 8 goals to 4 and open up a handy lead at the half, we continue to stretch our lead in the premiership quarter, and with two mins gone in the last, after two quickfire goals from the newly redacted pants, we had built a commanding, near unassailable lead with the margin blown out to 45 mins with 20 odd minutes to play. However the Dragons kicked into action and found another gear, piling on 9 unanswered goals to take the lead into time on, and despite a last ditch effort to swing the game back in the last 5 minutes we just ran short of time, seeing us lose the unloseable match by an agonising 3 points. Thank god AceAndrew69 wasn't playing or it could have got real ugly.

4 games in a row now. The Dragons have beaten us everywhere in that time... home, away, you name it. .An opportunity to move into top spot goes begging, and we're left licking our wounds heading into a vital clash next week against our newly installed 'rivals' the Las Vegas Bears here at VCP, as we look to cement our spot in the top four. The loss has us at 3rd on the ladder now, but just a solitary game from seventh, meaning we will want to turn things around quick smart to hold onto our buffer.

In her best game for the club, ruck comewhatmay (17 hitouts, 39 touches, 7 tackles, 2 goals) absolutely dominated her inferior opponent, giving our big bodied mids first use all game. Eclipsed only by a herculean effort from vice captain pantsredacted (32 touches, 4 goals) in possibly his best game for the club, who played one of the most complete games of qooty you will ever see, and his two goals late in the last quarter pushed us out to what should have been a game winning margin. Recruit Cadaver (39 touches, 9 marks and 1 goal) was again influential as he commanded the ball in space on the wings, while inside mid harry000 (31 touches, 1 goal) continued his rich vein of form on the inside in tandem with pants and cwm.

Rookie sensation Tonga Bob (30 disposals, 6 marks) was equally busy giving us run and drive around the ground, while the skipper TheInjuryFactory (20 touches, 9 marks) and fellow backman Square Peg (17 touches, 10 marks) got plenty of ball and rebounded well from half back. Veterans Smoooothy (23 touches, 1 goal) and Freofalcon (18 touches, 7 marks, 2 goals) were also instrumental in the contest in a game we had no right to lose, but we figured, * it, why not.

The Royals measure themselves against us, so to me that makes a bit more sense. I don't see the Bears as overly big rivals. If we were looking for an angle there's obviously yourself coming over, Gero's bizarre vendetta with us and pants being the original bear. But rivals? Yeah nah not so much.

I would look at the last two expansion clubs, both without flags, both big posting units without much qooty glory. Cloddo was melting about us beating them to 100 wins last week etc.

For me, the team I've been most keen to lock horns with has been the Dees since I've been here. I don't think we really have any strong rivals.

The Bears are a bit of a flimsy solution, they may have come back in S18 but they go way back, we're the newest kids on the block, doesn't really fit for me.
