Coney Island Warriors 14.4 (88) lost to East Side Phoenix 18.10 (118)​

This time we were back at home, facing an East Coast unit that were 2-1 and feeling good about themselves. I mean they usually feel good about themselves, that's their 'caravan park games room' vibe. The week had quizzes, food chat, board games - pretty relaxed tbh. Savour that serenity though...

The game didn't have the greatest of starts. Early in the second quarter we had conceded ten goals without troubling the scoresheet ourselves in what was shaping as a payback for the 125-point massacre from season 30. To our credit though we picked ourselves up and produced an admirable fightback, however by the final quarter our tank was empty. That we only lost by 30 points given the start we conceded was a positive along with the fact that we've been able to produce a team sheet each week, but once the round was over we sat on our Pat as the only team in the competition without a win so far this season.

Centreman Elton Johns Wig had his best game in persimmon to date with 26 disposals, 7 marks and three goals to be arguably BOG. The wingers of A Swallow and FootyGuy13 continue to impress, Lord_Flashheart was the pick of the defenders with NaturalDisaster (despite having five kicked on him) Raveneyes & Volbeat making solid contributions, while up front porcine half forward Piggy Smalls was the pick of the forwards with four goals with BEEG and a much more accurate Mesc chimed in with a couple each. Speaking of efficiency, the one-kick-one-goal effort from PhatBoy would be described in the world of business as, and I quote, "Lean as f*ck".

The highlight for me though was the performance of toxic who looked refreshed after missing a couple of weeks due to 'health protocols'. Starting on the bench, coach The Donald swapped him with a clearly tired & emotional pantskyle at ruck rover and he then proceeded to tackle everyone he saw. Let's hope he can continue that form in the coming weeks.

Back in Season 26, then skipper Frankston Rover announced that the leading goalkicker each season for the Coney Island Warriors would be crowned with the Wooshette Medal.

With ten Warriors kicking over 10 goals in season 33, we had more snags than Bunnings on a Saturday arvo. However as arguably the most successful full forward in Warriors history remained in the position, it was no surprise that three-time Wooshette Medal winner BEEG added a fourth medal to an already straining neck after kicking 64 goals to lead all comers. His best for the season was a seven-goal effort in round 13, while he kicked five on another five occasions.

Wazzas, please give it up to this season's Wooshette Medallist in BEEG! Congrats on another productive season, here's to many more.

Baghdad Bombers 16.9 (105) lost to Coney Island Warriors 16.13 (109)​

Bloody hell Wazzas, we went and did it! We took on the undefeated Bombers on their own penitentiary block on the day that one of their players celebrated their 500th game and we only went and won! Get absolutely f*cked Owen ya flog!

The week was a strange one for a few reasons. The Babylonians were true to form, which is to say they tried the whole Millwallian "nobody likes us everybody hates us" thing shtick but when we didn't bite they weren't too annoying. Then of course the double tragedy that shocked the cricket World brought the mood down significantly, however come game day both teams were up and about and, in a see-sawing contest, we came home with our first win of the season to the tune of a mere four (4) points. It was great to get around the guys celebrating their first win in persimmon - well done Ambrose Burnside Mesc A Swallow PhatBoy & Elton Johns Wig for playing out of your skins for the lads and helping us to get over the line!

The win saw us take a step off the bottom of the ladder, a win and some percentage outside of the top eight.

There were plenty of victors around the ground, and it wasn't just the numbers that told the story but the one percenters (which is also a number before you pull me up on it) also made such a difference. Like Freofalcon swooping down on his cloud and putting in a goal saving tackle at the death, a tackle that will live in Coney Island folklore. Like the two-kick-two-goal efficiency from toxic. Like PhatBoy answering the call from The Donald and taking over ruck duties, and fellow rookie Ambrose Burnside being thrown up forward and kicking four majors.

I've said many times that our centreline has been in red hot form, and this week was no exception. The run of wingers A Swallow & FootyGuy13 produced a combined 58 disposals, held together by the composed Elton Johns Wig . The half forward line of TubbsFarquhar Dinsdale & Piggy Smalls were equally as damaging though averaging 22 disposals and almost 10 marks each, as well as kicking 5 goals between them. And then there's pantskyle. Thirty three touches, thirteen tackles and a goal. Hoboy!!!

West Coast Wonders 22.7 (139) defeated Coney Island Warriors 16.8 (104)​

We backed up our trip to Abdu Prison in round five with the second half of our road trip double header, this time heading west to the Colosseum to face the Wonders. With the menu featuring hackneyed tropes and 30 year old piss, the week was difficult to digest. And then, as we reached the other side of the weekly tunnel, the light at the end tuned out to be a shittruck ready to heap further simulated misery upon us as we finished with a 35 point defeat.

The good news is that we were still only a game plus percentage outside of the top eight. The bad news is that the win that the Swamprats had over the Demons was enough for them to push us back to the bottom of the table.

Reigning Mobbs & Frankston Rover Medallist TheInjuryFactory had his best game of the season thanks to his 16 disposals, 2 goals and a whopping dozen tackles. Another to impress was centreman Elton Johns Wig with his 23 kicks! The wingers in A Swallow & FootyGuy13 saw a bit of the ball, BEEG kicked four goals before being thrown in the backline, while rookie Ambrose Burnside backed up his 4 goal effort last week after being shifted to the goalsquare with another outstanding substitute effort, this time in the ruck. 20 touches, 18 hitouts and a goal from 79% game time was an outstanding effort indeed!

Coney Island Warriors 18.4 (112) drew Dragons FFC 16.16 (112)​

Draws are sh*t.

Someone tells you to draw, they're either gonna shoot you or compare you to French women. Someone gives you a draw, you're picking up a bunch of Uno cards that you don't want.

Anyhoo, we were back at home in round 7 as we hosted the Dragons. No need to talk about our history, old mate wouldn't shup up about it. The week itself had its moments which, when you add them all up, was a week. Then we played a game on Sunday and it was the same margin at the first and last sirens. They had 10 more scoring shots than us, so really they lost more than we did. It leaves us stone motherless still, a game and a half adrift of the top eight.

Draws are sh*t.

The new look half back line of Snuffaluphagus Volbeat & Freofalcon toiled admirably, and combined well with the full back line of Mofra NaturalDisaster & Raveneyes / TubbsFarquhar to scare the opposition into missing easy goals.

Coach The Donald rewarded half forward flanker Piggy Smalls for his career best form by chucking him into the guts during the game, and the porcine playmaker didn't let him down with 28 disposals and 7 marks to lead the midfield. TheInjuryFactory was also influential, pantskyle was nice despite what some people thought while the wingers FootyGuy13 and former Dragon A Swallow found plenty of the ball.

And much like our season so far, it was an even spread of goalscorers as 11 Warriors kicked truly, with BEEG the best with four majors.

Las Vegas Bears 14.15 (99) lost to Coney Island Warriors 20.8 (128)​

We travelled to the Stadium In The Sky to face the Las Vegas Bears. They had just come off a 3000+ match thread against the Bombers, so by the time we came calling they ran out of puff both on & off the qooty field. This was good for us as we had our quietest week of the season, saving our energies for the Sunday.

At half time of the qooty we had only kicked five goals are were the best part of 20 points down, and still 12 points adrift after 10 minutes of the third quarter. We then did the unthinkable and rattled off twelve (12) goals in a row to find ourselves 59 points up with 10 minutes left in the game. This was enough for us to go to the pub, leaving the Las Vegans to kick the final five majors. All to no avail however, as we finished up 29 points to the good.

We're back off the bottom of the ladder thankfully and, thanks to a congested bottom two thirds of the ladder, are a game & percentage off fifth place!

This was the round where sophomore utility Snuffaluphagus had a breakout game. Starting in a back pocket, he was soon put on the ball after pantskyle went for a lie down and, after working his way into the contest, absolutely EXPLODED in the second half with five goals to go with 27 possessions and 7 tackles. This inspired TheInjuryFactory who kicked three second half goals of his own to go with his 24 disposals and 8 tackles.

Elton Johns Wig celebrated the admission of the OOFs next season with a typically industrious 24 disposal/7 mark/4 tackle effort, while winger A Swallow (25 touches/1 goal) & interchange specialist Ambrose Burnside (career-high 24 touches & 5 marks) gave us plenty of run.

Full forward BEEG kicked an eye-catching 5.2 while CHF Dinsdale & TubbsFarquhar also kicked a couple each, although a couple of behinds have ruined Tubbs' perfect goalkicking accuracy run.

Las Vegas Bears 14.15 (99) lost to Coney Island Warriors 20.8 (128)​

We travelled to the Stadium In The Sky to face the Las Vegas Bears. They had just come off a 3000+ match thread against the Bombers, so by the time we came calling they ran out of puff both on & off the qooty field. This was good for us as we had our quietest week of the season, saving our energies for the Sunday.

At half time of the qooty we had only kicked five goals are were the best part of 20 points down, and still 12 points adrift after 10 minutes of the third quarter. We then did the unthinkable and rattled off twelve (12) goals in a row to find ourselves 59 points up with 10 minutes left in the game. This was enough for us to go to the pub, leaving the Las Vegans to kick the final five majors. All to no avail however, as we finished up 29 points to the good.

We're back off the bottom of the ladder thankfully and, thanks to a congested bottom two thirds of the ladder, are a game & percentage off fifth place!

This was the round where sophomore utility Snuffaluphagus had a breakout game. Starting in a back pocket, he was soon put on the ball after pantskyle went for a lie down and, after working his way into the contest, absolutely EXPLODED in the second half with five goals to go with 27 possessions and 7 tackles. This inspired TheInjuryFactory who kicked three second half goals of his own to go with his 24 disposals and 8 tackles.

Elton Johns Wig celebrated the admission of the OOFs next season with a typically industrious 24 disposal/7 mark/4 tackle effort, while winger A Swallow (25 touches/1 goal) & interchange specialist Ambrose Burnside (career-high 24 touches & 5 marks) gave us plenty of run.

Full forward BEEG kicked an eye-catching 5.2 while CHF Dinsdale & TubbsFarquhar also kicked a couple each, although a couple of behinds have ruined Tubbs' perfect goalkicking accuracy run.
