Jon-Boy Ralph on that Fox Footy channel show tonight reckons we'd trade one of the picks IF we ended up splitting it this year (in the pick 16 range) for Liam Baker...surely that's way overs for him
Most pundits seem to be suggesting a late first is fair value. We'd prefer it to bean early second round, but with academies and F/S, our pick 19-21 blows out to 25 or so, which would be under value. Richmond would be happy if we split and give them a late first, would be nice to play hardball for once.

Maybe this year will be the year with the changes in personnel

Yep, there is no way we should be splitting our R1 for Baker. No saying he isn’t worth a late first, but he is not what we should be spending 1R capital on.

Much prefer zurhaah than Graham.

At least zurhaah has some beastly power and able to kick goals .

Graham a plodder mid who can't even average 20 touches a game .

Zurharr is Daniel Chick from Wish

Band 1 FA deal for Graham so you guys get a top 5 pick then we trade our F4 to you for Baker and pay him the base wage. Jack and Liam then go halves in Jack’s wage. Everyone wins.
There’s no way you’d pay JG that much , more likely 2-3y modest deal,,, he’s a good honest foot soldier , tough and disciplined, ideal amongst a young group that’s all

Flynn and Brockman were known during the year last year

Known or speculated? Brockman hadn't signed, but there didn't seem to be much of a read on whether he would stay or go. Hawks fans had no Intel and wanted to keep him.

Flynn I don't recall hearing anything about. We seemed more into other rucks but missed out on them and shifted our focus pretty late on.

This is why I'm still very keen on Crossley.. I think the rule change would help him a lot and he's a great balance to Williams.
I know we have Flynn but he's injury prone. I think he'd come over for another shot at the show.
I heard he was a bit of a tosser. Not sure you want to re-introduce a known pot head into the club

Hes not primarily a midfielder, he plays on a flank in a Richmond side thats never been big on disposals even in their good years. Hes only getting some(not a lot) mid minutes this year because Hopper and Taranto are out, same as Baker
26 years old, mediocre career stats. Why would this be a good idea?

Maybe because he’s a 3 time premiership player and able to offer defensive side to our young and inconsistent midfield once Yeo goes. He’s 26, the exact age range we lack. He’s not a world beater but he and baker will go a long way to making sure we don’t revisit the rabble we were for the past two years.

Zurhaar is definitely more of a ‘Fools Gold’ Freo pick up.

What is he?

He’s not a key forward, he’s not really even a third tall - more a half forward? - it’s very much a ‘complimentary’ position in a good forward line these days.

He plays with aggression but also tends concede free kicks and is not an overly skilful player. Doesn’t tend to get a load of the ball and averages 1.3 goals across his career - not really bringing a major scoring impact but is capable of having good days with 4-6 goals - just not very often.

Could see him at Freo as an upgrade on Sam Sturt adding some presence across half forward. Try and keep him out of Josh Treacy’s way.
Averaging 1.3 goals across your career at norf as a non tall is a bloody good effort .

He is also playing further up the ground including centre bounces now he has finally built a tank .

Recon he will flourish away from norf

We don't need any more slow players . We have gaff and sheed not getting game time because we value foot speed with our new game plan

Interesting Freo are mentioned here, I really don't think they need a KPD. They're pretty well stocked for KPD's, and plenty of young ones too;

  • Chapman
  • Davies
  • Pearce
  • Mcdonald
  • Cox
  • Murphy
  • Draper
You don't turn down the opportunity to get underpriced young key positoin players who have talent. Espeically Freo who have had abot 3 good key postoin players in their entire history. You can never have enough lotto tickets (unless you are North and look what happened to htem).

Zurharr is a Jake Stringer (and not the sometimes good Jake Stringer, the ordinary Jake Stringer) from Wish. Do not want, even if free.

Hunt and Witho were suprises too.

Hunt was left field but not a surprise. We were linked to him well before FA.

Witho also didn’t know he was going to be traded until his exit interview either.

The point is most of our targets, like every other club, are known through the course of the year.

He’s selfish. More concerned with his highlights reel than his teams prospects of winning, and my sense is he believes he is a better player than he is. He’s the kind of bloke that measures himself by what his very best is, and just ignores his downside.

Has some genuine X factor about him, but he’s inconsistent week to week, and can run hot and cold in game.

No thank you.

Graham is a defensive mid rates high in all pressure stats , much diff player to gaff and sheed, his value is what he could add to young group learning ropes of two way running

Standard behaviour. They are trying to talk up the value of an out of contract Victorian based players who has flagged a move to an interstate club. They think it affects the perception of the clubs involved in the trade about what the player is worth.

If Baker was at a WA club, was out of contract and had flagged he wanted to go back to Victoria they would be saying he is only worth pick 50 and we better just take it if we are lucky enough to offered that because if we don't then we are overplaying our very weak hand and end up with pick 80 instead.

Or they would say that if the deal doesn't go through then it will evidence of the complete failure and ineptitude of the WA club and that no draftee will ever put their hand up to go there again after this etc etc. Remember when they did that to Freo over the Hogan trade when it looked like that might not go through. They wrote article after article about how Freo might aswell just pack their tent up and fold as an AFL club if they don't give Melbourne whatever they want to get the Hogan deal over the line. They tried to play on Freo's insecurities over prior failed bids to recruit players.

Acres trade as a future 3rd (albeit wasn't really wanted by Freo) would seem to indicate an low 20s pick is about right.

Chapman isn’t a KPD and word in freo is here is more likely to end up a wingman or mid than a KPD.

Murphy got dropped from Peel to play WAFL reserves. It seems the question marks on his speed are fermenting.

Draper looks good, but he’s only a handful of games in.

Pearce is always one injury away from potential retirement.

We have a more immediate need for Busslinger than Freo, but Freo’s KPD stocks are far from a sure thing in medium-long term.

If Buss wants immediate opportunity he’d be better off coming to us, but interest from Freo is natural. Buss projects to be better than most on the list you mentioned, and has point of difference as an interceptor with genuinely good foot skills/rebounding.
The point more so is if you flip it and look at the KPF that's the area they're in dire need of.
Murphy just needs time to build fitness and strength.
Draper looks a beauty.
Davies is a sound developing option.
Chapman probably more your 3rd tall defender, half back. But can play the role, so is depth.
Buss would down the list in terms of needs.
