I heard there was a D3 team who lost their points because of an unregistered player.

Anyone confirm??

Anyone at OW (and I know there are a few on this forum) can tell me how J.Horsburgh went. 100 goals a few years back. 0 in R1 and 1 in R2.

Who would u consider genuine match winners from your club/opposition. Also ruckman from Elsternwick is a giant, i believe there is not a player who would beat him all year at stoppages. Massive recruit for the wicks.

Juck wasn't going to play at all this year as he was helping out at training at Essendon. It was only a late decision to play so started the year in the ressies. Played on Saturday in the seniors but spent most of his time on the half back line. Did sneak down for a goal late in the game though.

Good question PS. Not sure if he is playing this year but Flowerday from the Gryphons is a very good player in D3 footy. Goal kicking on baller capable of tearing the opposition apart.

Higgins from Swinnie is a quality player also.

What? It's surely so because you say it is?

Hardly.

I will be interested to read the report from this week. If someone could post it here it would be appreciated. I doubt the coach will fill his team full of praise this week. My guess is he will tell his players that the effort wasn't good enough.

That said, could we all say it was unexpected? I would be interested in seeing Elsternwick's record over the other side of the Yarra River. They rarely win when they have to cross the river.

Had to go to their website for it, but pretty much as I expected. Maybe I got that one right eh?

Would look to me that Elsternwick has lost Neill, their major ruckman and Hunter, their near 100 goal full forward from last season.

I don't care what some of the jocks may say on the forum, but when you're being serious, taking out a dominant ruckman such as Neill and a 90+ goal forward such as Hunter out of the team and it leaves a massive hole.

But last week everyone else was brillant as well. Surely the remaining brillant players could cover

I can confirm three things -

1. Neill is out for season 2007 with a busted knee
2. Team - (Dominant Ruckman + 90 Goal Forward) = big loss
3. Match report was as expected. Nothing revealing or insightful whatsoever

He's not a recruit. He was there last year. He's also beatable in the ruck as our WB ruckman showed on the weekend. Having said that I saw him take a pack mark against 3 other players and he didn't jump. He sure doesn't get smaller as the game goes on either!

You show me where the coach said everyone was brilliant in the Powerhouse match. He mentions the core group, but does not mention how many were playing/missing against Powerhouse.

I do not believe you can show this forum where he mentions that everyone was brilliant against Powerhouse.

Monash over Hoes at home by about 6 goals
Wicks over LaTrobe (who will think they're playing on half an oval) by 2 goals
Swines over Power by 4 goals
OW over Q by 6 goals.

Good luck to everyone. If I tipped you be afraid and if I didn't... prove me wrong!

Interested in your ideas on how you beat Elsterwick Red Gum ....as your boys have done just that last weekend. What was the turn around from week one against Monash?

Monash over Hoes by about 12 goals
Wicks over LaTrobe by 26 points
Power over Swiney by 3 goals
OW over Kew by 10 goals.

Mcglede, given E'wick have lost a couple of quality players this year how do you see their season panning out? Personally, I think Jack Neill is a massive loss for them. If he's playing then they play well - particularly at home. I he misses then I think winning 10-12 games for the season is the best they can expect.

From the match report they have lost two of their onballers (Bedingfield and Brian Mahony) so thats got to put some strain on the depth early - will be interesting to see how they are covered.

Strangely enough, if Convery gets through the season, he may make the loss of Neill somewhat of a non-factor. I'm not sure about his ruckwork, but his skills are better than Neill's. My suggestion would be that the loss of Hunter is the bigger headache for Grace. S Grace is too small and not athletic enough to be a one-out goalsquare type, and I can't think of who else would go into the square to be a damaging option (B Mahony?)

At the end of the day, you win games by kicking goals, and I just don't see where they come from on a consistent enough basis.

If they had another ruckman, I'd play Convery one-out in the square with S Grace and maybe Byrne (41 I think) in the pockets, but from the looks of it they don't so it would be a bit of wishful thinking.

Don't forget OW - 10 to 12 wins should sneak into the finals, and from there, anything's possible!!

Well Gents (and possibly ladies), I'm on 7/10 with a 4,3 record thus far. Can anyone better that? I'm tipping yes.

Extremely tough week for the punters with at least 3 games a flip of the coin.

Monash over Ivanhoe by 43pts (Gryphs at home to be too strong)
Elsternwick over Latrobe by 2 pts (Trobers to stuggle on postage stamp)
Hawthorn over West Bruns by 16 Pts (Hawks to come from behind & win!)
Powerhouse over Swinny by 8 Pts (Giving the House one more chance)
Old West over Kew by 66 Pts (Early pacesetters to continue good form)

Good luck to all...

Big week on the track, better focus before the game, a few changes in the team, home ground advantage, settled nerves after an interrupted pre-season, don't like the Monash ground (and they got the jump on us), Elsternwick underestimated us, we played the better footy on the day, one week at a time, hard work pays off in the end... Have I missed any other clichés you were going to use Redgum?

As I've admitted earlier I'm 3/10 (0,3), so you're safe from me quasimodo! But here I go again anyway...

Ivanhoe to beat Monash (20 points)
Wicks to beat La Trobe (10 points)
WB to beat Hawthorn (25 points)
Power to beat Swinney (4 points)
OW to beat Kew (52 points)

The home ground helped. Monash definately play well at home, they gave us some trouble last year as well. We made a few changes and the boys responded well. It was a difficult prep for round one. Only one praccy match (Vs Kew and a few weeks prior to the season) and we were only allowed on an oval for the first time on the thursday prior to round one. I'm not making excuses, I know many teams were in similar positions, but perhaps we just took a while to settle some new faces. We'll find out on the weekend if we can keep up the good form.:)

Didn't miss any and added a few of your own. You should've come and said hello Knackers. Anyone with an affection for Aussie music could probably find me.

Flowerday was no doubt arguably the best player in the comp back in '04. But did his knee during pre-season '05 and hasn't played since.
