we still got eric mackenzie out of it. so it wasnt a wasted pick.

you picked 1 bad one from all the way back in 2000.

he did also play some good footy for west coast, so the potential was there but he just couldnt really apply himself.

nah, I picked two, Docker NJL picked 1.

That's three top 10 picks all up. :thumbsu:

geebus - even Judd @ pick 3. He buggered off back to Vic at the age of 24 - he could have another 8-10 years playing for another club. That's a gamble and a half in itself, taking interstate kids. ;)

never rated that bloke anyway. but we got masten, kennedy and notte out of it. so im happy.

im talking about a player who never actually really showed anything, and hardly ever got a game then got delisted.

im trying to think of one now...

I know, he did bugger all at his time at WC, what a waste of a pick.

Which navy blue... the one that goes with white or the one that goes with red?

Or the one that goes with yellow?

As a richmond supporter who has tipped richmond for the spoon last three years including this year, there is nothing that fremantle could reasonably offer to get pick 1 or 2.

How bout Pav?

Do we really want another midget in the midfield.

Yeah hes going to be good, just not for us. :thumbsu:

Im 193cm of Pure man. So yeah midget.

Bet he aint quick, and thats is what we need.

Pace. :thumbsu:
i disagree. we need genuine mids. guys who win the ball

have a look at geelongs midfield

bartel, ablett, corey, ling

all there pacey guys are flankers

I posted this somewhere else(bold parts are edits)

Some of the eagles first round picks from the last 10 years

1997:
Jaxon Crabb (12) 15 games
Callum Chambers (13) 54 games

1998:
Brandon Hill (10) 65 games

1999:
Travis Gaspar (14) 28 games
David Haynes (16)

2000:
Andrew McDougal (5) 38 games

2001:
Ashley Sampi (6) 78 games

2002:
Paul Johnson (24, I've included this second round pick because the first round pick was traded)1 game

I reckon you guys do alot better with later picks and rookie pick.

chambers was a good player, i really rated him on half forward. then he couldnt get a game every week so we traded him to the blues where he went downhill.

i'll give you brandon hill

gaspar was injury ****ed, never really rated him anyway actually, dont think he ever had a season to actually prove himself.

haynes had a great 2003 then was traded for pick 26 (sam butler). brilliant by us.

paul johnson...yeah, well as soon as seaby started playing he never looked back so johnson was no chance for a game. we done well with that trade as well.

crabb was a crab.

but if you look at recent history our drafting has improved out of site. theres no doubt about that.

Rich is going to be a superstar

We want him in our team desperatly.

We should be prepared to give up anything but Pavlich.

Warnock - First Pick + Sweetener?

national draft

freo > west coast

rookie draft

west coast > freo

We both lead the competition in this area.

Trading

West Coast > > > Freo

That is how it sits

oh dear:o
No seriously, why would we be wanting to give away someone the likes of Warnock. Not the way to go IMHO.
People want premierships but top draft picks as well? Which one is it??

Might as well get the ball rolling on this kid straight away.
Harvey, Lloyd, Schwab etc put your heads together now and find us a way to keep this kid in WA and put him in purple.
Would look very nice running around along side of Palmer and underneath the feet of Warnock for the next 10 years.
I cant see us finishing anywhere hear a position that would allow us to select him so depending on how Mundy, Murphy, Crowley etc go this year i can see them all being offered as bait to get us a top 2 pick.

My only hope is that Warnock is not invovled anywhere.

No one trades a number one pick unless they are getting a superstar. So unless it's Pav for Rich it aint going to happen. The mob up the road only got pick 3 for Judd!

I'd say at the end of last season Mundy was worth a pick in the mid-teens, Murphy late teens/early 20's and Crowley about the same. If Warnock decides to leave we could possibly do Warnock + our first round pick + Mundy/Murphy/Crowley for pick one but it would depend on what number our first pick is and how well Warnock and Mundy/Murphy/Crowley play this year. No thanks.

Definately. We have Ibbo, Mayne, Peake and Palmer who are finishers, we need a replacement for Hase/Bell/Josh.

Rich will be a better player than warnock quicker. Our other pick will take longer to develop and not be as good.

We are being held back by the midfield not our ruck stocks.

Do you know how good rich is?

i have had a lot of involvement with junior state teams, he has all the attributes to be the next absolute superstar of the AFL. He will lead us to flags.

He has 55 metre accurate kicking, pace, size.... will get damn close to the sandover this year. Plug and play absolute superstar.

Palmer, Rich, Sandilands, Pavlich - stars to win us a flag

Is it just me, or do these two go together??

IF Warnock chooses to leave at the end of the year, he will be in huge demand. He has the potential to be one of the best ruckmen in the competition for the next 10+ years. It should be 1st round picks and sweeteners heading OUR way should he leave. Good ruckmen are a rare commodity - the Vic clubs will be fighting each other for him if he's up for grabs. On that note, I'd be more interested in Naitanui if Warnock wants out - one ruckman is not enough. Go for a good mid with a later pick.

Rich certainly looks to have a big future. But what do we do if/when Sandilands gets injured again, play Gilmore and Campbell as our two ruckmen?

We took Palmer at pick 7 last year, and this year looks to be a stronger draft. So hypothetically your Warnock + 1st round + player equals Warnock + Palmer + Mundy/Drum which is a bloody lot to give away! Infact a lot of people would say we'd be trading more to get an untried teenager than Carlton gave up for Judd.

Whilst you have no disagreement on my half about the potential of Rich, I just cannot agree that you trade away such a promising KP/Ruckman like Warnock. The lad has shown some gumption and decent ruckmen are not a common commodity.
Yes, we are most definately being held back by our midfield.... We just have to be as smart with our picks as possible.
Rhys Palmer slid to us... maybe we'll have some luck again next draft...
