Him, Hird and Reid will be found knocking back a couple of slabs on the footpath outside Windy Hill

I'd personally go shout them a taxi ride home.

Except Hirdy.

He gets a limo.

Bit of a meh situation for me. I don't mind the guy as long as he'd be able to work effectively under the new structures put in place, but he doesn't strike me as someone with irreplaceable skills either. Him leaving won't affect the club much (unless we can't find a replacement) as we don't really have his position filled due to his suspension.

Didn't Collingwood's football boss quit early this year, does anyone think we'd make a play for him?
I think he went to North Melbourne. Not 100% sure though.

I only wish what is best for the club.
It's hard to say from the outside looking in, but i would be pretty damn concerned about the morale of the players if Hird gets outed. They got told to hang tight together through an absolute s**t storm because they were given information suggesting that Hird was not responsible for any crime and it was all a media/AFL public relations fiasco. After all that, you want to start allocating blame and administering in house penalties? If i was a player on the list i would pretty much throw my hands in the air and ask well who's next? Next thing i would do is look at trade options to a club that stood by it's word.

Who says Hird isn't coming back?

Some are starting to sound like the very journos we all hate..making assumptions with no actual facts in place.

I want Hirdy back at the club in some capacity, whether it be senior coach or not.

Can't believe you'd make Doc Reid stand in the cold and wait for a taxi. He's not young any more! :p

I'd drive him home myself :)

From today's statement:

“I took the General Manager of Football role to implement a succession plan and knowing in time I would help the Club find the right person to succeed me,” Corcoran said.

the way this is written, it seems implied that Corcoran wasn't seeking to carry out this role for long. and certainly that the succession plan was a key part of his job. i don't know about you, but i don't remember a succession plan ever being announced.

so i guess we should go check the press release where it was announced Hamilton was leaving/Corcoran was taking over. But oh no, the essendonfc.com.au link in the BF thread no longer works (there's probably no conspiracy here). thank god for the wayback machine!

Essendon Football Club wishes to advise that General Manager Football Operations Paul Hamilton has informed the Club he would like to explore other career opportunities.

Hamilton, who has been in his role with the Bombers since 2008, will remain at the Club until the end of the year in a Player Contracting and Assurance Role.

Essendon CEO Ian Robson said he was pleased Hamilton would complete the year to ensure a smooth transition for both parties.

“It is disappointing that Paul will be leaving us but we appreciate that he has made a decision to further develop his career and explore other opportunities,” Robson said

“We are pleased Paul has agreed to stay with the Club for the upcoming free agency, trade and draft periods to oversee important TPP and player contract matters.”

“In his time at Essendon, Paul has played an integral role in building the playing list and overseeing many important changes to the club’s football program and operations. He has been able to apply both football and commercial nous to his role.”

“I wish to thank Paul for his professionalism and the outstanding contribution he has made to the Club.”

Hamilton said the time is right to move on at the end of the year.

“I’ve been considering my future for some time and have made what I think is the right decision for me,” Hamilton said.

“I have a long standing relationship with the Essendon Football Club, including as a player, and have made many lifetime friends.”

“It’s been enjoyable working with the players, coaches and staff in recent years and I wish James Hird, Jobe Watson and the entire Club every success in the future.”

Essendon CEO Ian Robson confirmed People and Development Manager Danny Corcoran has been appointed the new General Manager of Football Operations.

“Danny brings a wealth of experience to the role and is looking forward to taking on this exciting challenge,” Robson said.

“I am certain he will play a significant part in contributing to the success that all of us are committed to delivering to our supporter base in the coming years.”

good work, guys. you know, maybe there was a plan. maybe Corcoran wasn't planning to keep this job for long. maybe he was only filling in. so i don't know, maybe tell us about that?

Quite hilarious when Channel 9 & 10 are going with the line that ASADA have another victim :D

Surely 9 & 10 aren't that dumb are they? Corcs just wanted to do something else. Nothing to do with ASADA.

Yeah, that's a good idea. But he's got too much baggage IMO

I'm talking everyone though...not just the same 30 odd regular peanuts like us.

Every 'lurker', every fan that reads the Bomber BF board, vote in a poll and it will be very interesting to see the result.

Title of poll could be something like....

" Even if Bomber turns us into a top 4 awesome side do you want Golden Boy to return to the coaches seat in 2015?'..

It was a mistake to get Corcoran back to the club - But that's life - Seems that when Hird returns he won't be surrounded by yes men - Which can only be good.

Really?

I think we need a poll thread. A big BF Bomber board poll that finds out how many people/fans want Hird back next year..at the end of the year.

Maybe the appointment of Bomber has turned people off Hird?

Has the tide turned?

We had one, but the whole ASADA thing was too fresh and tempers flared quickly. There are plenty of avenues to discuss it for now, but a poll will probably be up at some point next year.

I started a poll last week and Hirdismyhero closed it down.
HERE
I honestly want Hird back just not as coach as I would rather Bomber coach us for the next 3 to 5 years.

I've opened it back up, mate. Only reason I shut it down is because of the tempers flaring.

Fingers crossed it's settled down.
