What to do with that million or so dollars......
puts things into perspective a bit.

With the lions getting a PP i guess it's time to revise again about what other compensation picks could potentially lower our 2nd and Melbourne 2nd rounder currently 20 and 27 respectively.

Daniel wells rumored to be offered 3 yrs @ 600k which could potentially be an end of 1st round pick for norf. Our picks 20 and 27 slide 1 if that's the case.
Chris Mayne rumoured to be offered a 4year 500k contract which could see Freeo get a 2nd round pick. Our pick stays as is, however Melbourne's slides 1.
Tyrone Vickery rumored to be offered a 3 year deal from the hawks. Richmond to potentially match and seek a trade (better for us), but if they don't they'll probably get end of 2nd round compo with a slight chance of it being after their 2nd pick.

Worst case scenario: Our pick 20 becomes pick 23, Melbourne 30.
Best case: Our picks don't change.
What i believe: We slide 1 pick to 21 and 28 after Mayne compensation.
does anyone know if the compensation picks impact the value of the picks they effectively demote in the draft?
e.g 26 = 729 pt, 30 = 629. 100 point loss.
or does 30 still equal 729 in that respect?

Please tell me no one suggested that seriously. Port are absolutely dreaming. Good on them for trying.

Nah not even Port is that stupid. Someone on this thread said it was mentioned on 5AA today...most likely crap.

Pick values are finalised after compensation, but before the draft, so picks evaporating as they're used to match bids doesn't increase the value of later picks, nor do picks moving up in the order as bids are matched decrease the value of those now below them.

It was just some random host spitballing about how Essendon could get the trade done.

right, so the Hibberd pick could lose 100 pts after Mayne, Vickery and Wells compensation.

Thoughts on getting 4 & 8.
Hibberd pick (melbournes 2016 or 2017 2nd)
Our 2016 2nd & 3rd & 2017 2nd & 3rd
into 4 & 8.

1, 4, 8, 20 this year.

Pity Jesse Hogan re-signed lol.

Not like Rowey and Bicks to get things wrong  Rowey is a dead-set dope, but Bicks is actually good value opinion wise. I have no idea where they got their Fantasia story from, probably wishful thinking from some Poowa tragic.

Later on, on the 5AA show they had Caro Wilson do her segment. The boys brought up the GF and how great it was for the Doggies to get a win, cinderella story, warms the heart etc. and Caro literally spent 80% of her initial response carping on about the EFC ASAGA! She really is totally invested in it. Deep down she wants to be one of us.

If you make the assumption that we will ONLY take three live picks, it makes our trade position to get those picks very interesting. Assuming we turn pick one in to two picks, the 26 for Hibberd becomes unnecessary - what do we do with it?

I am more in the camp of trading pick 1 and 19 for 7,15 and 16 - Then swapping 26 and 37 to teams who don't have a second round pick in 2016 for a first round or 2nd round pickin 2017.

I'm curious to hear what the Essendon VFL watchers thought about Bruno Laguda this season? Just 6 games in the 1st half of the year before doing his shoulder but 15.5 disposals is a nice contribution from an undrafted player 1 year out of junior footy.
Looked alright, quickish.
As taken by Boyse(?) and to a lesser extent Hind in the second half of the season.
Did miss a couple of Lagudas games though.
Edit: agree with Eth, others, not AFL quality at this stage- meant at VFL level.

In all seriousness, why wouldn't we package up all our picks, send them to GC for their three top 10 picks? We can upgrade Walla with pick 91 or whatever. Could come away with McCluggage, Brodie and Taranto.
We would if GC would accept that deal, but they won't.

THE AFL’s determination to finally jump in to save flagging Brisbane has resulted in the Lions being awarded a rare priority pick.

The AFL awarded the Lions the draft’s No.19 selection, a pick after the first round of November’s national draft.
