Autopsy flogged by hawks, back to game over at half time times

Ok so after that performance, if we are going to continue with these efforts then we may as well play other players from the vfl side...They will at least try and compete unlike some players today. Time for Harvey, Whitlock, Phillips. Mayley and maybe Dursmaa to get games at the expense of Dawson, Darling, Wardlaw, Logue, Fisher and especially Powell..

I know they are a good team, but we made them look like millionaires.

Guests kicking a career PB in his 279th match says it all. 278 previous matches and he has never kicked more goals.

Our midfield concerns me. They need to toughen up and their base line needs to lift. The midfield is starting to reminds me of 2005 - 11 - they looked good on paper and held their own against mediocre opposition, but got anihlated when the whips were cracking.

Very disappointing performance.

Now put in Phillips and make him the whipping boy agaist a fast and slick Bulldogs.

This is the Paul Keating game: the flogging we had to have.

Now that the brains trust who run the joint had our 100 year celebration game on a Thursday night a week after the Hawks in Tas game, considering what happened a year ago, a national TV audience will have the sad spectacle of a (mostly Dogs) crowd of 17k watching a motorcade of champions. Anyone who thinks the front of house doesn't need to be fumigated can now see they are kidding themselves.

Likewise thinking dribbling over the line against a bottom of the barrel Richmond, West Coast and Carlton was some kind of defining moment of changing fortunes.

A playing group of talented players who are absolutely terrified of the slightest wisp of contest heat tells you all you need to know about whether the guy we have been paying big bucks for 3 years is fit for purpose. Kidding yourself if you think this is working.

If this isn't the time to stop kidding ourselves, Christ knows when it is.

LDU
Sheezel
Powell
Zurhaar

Four very important players who absolutely pick and choose by the week when they want to put a shift in defensively.

Obviously there's more than them falling short of the mark, but these four are so important for our side. Three of them are huge money players and one is a staple in our midfield, and it doesn't seem to be a coincidence that we get pantsed every time they don't crack in without the footy.
And Parker had just one tackle and 7 pressure acts.

Take LDU out of that and its 150 points.

Daniel cant play in this system. What a horrible acquisition.

Persist with WDawson, Bring in Cooper Harvey for a run, Brayden George not far away, and for the love of god Will Phillips get given a sustained run at it with Wardlaw likely missing a sustained period of time.

This game was a blend of horrific effort and pigheaded coaching.

LDU, Xerri, and Parker can hold their heads high. I didn’t even mind Kerch’s game — despite the turnovers, he was clearly trying, which was a rare commodity today.

Larkey competed well again, but his radar continues to be off compared to previous form. Curse that damned article.

McDonald was our best defender, which today is like being the nicest guy in prison.

I can excuse some of the rookies — Hardeman, Dawson, Hansen, FOS. I mean, look at their leaders. Can you blame them?

Even Sheezel is mortal and has the occasional mare. No hard feelings there — he's one of the few with credits in the bank.

Mitchell knew Wardlaw was the only bloke giving a yelp defensively, so he threw Nash on him — who then jumped to LDU after the concussion.

He’s also smart enough to know our midfield moves like treacle, so he used Watson in spurts through the middle. Smart footy.

We got obliterated in the guts, which exposed deeply limited blokes like Pink to the craft of Gunston — who absolutely cooked him.

Logue is a fat idiot. Outmarked by Watson, gave Chol acres of space all day, and sold out his WA buddy Fisher with zero voice.

Speaking of, aside from a sick goal, Fisher is a talentless idiot.

Caleb tries his little heart out, but the boys look for him constantly — no matter where he is — and just give it to him. If he kept it within 30 metres he’d be fine, but he thinks he’s got 50-metre lasers in him.

Simpkin’s pulling out the faux tough guy act again — shoving blokes when they’re on the ground, throwing in late cheapies, and don’t forget the early off-the-ball free for a tickle to Meek. Lay a tackle or throw a shepherd, you peanut. Parker is genuinely tough — he does the fundamentals without question. Big difference.

Powell should be so much more. He’s got phenomenal tools and flashes them occasionally, but consistency of effort is his biggest weakness. Get angry, mate. Worst on ground when you factor in what he’s capable of.

Zurhaar did zip while our midfield got smashed, yet no one thought to give him a run in the guts. He might’ve been shit there too, but at least give it a try.

Curtis, who’s been great this year, forgot all about playing football and spent all his energy trying to ‘get even’ with the defenders wrecking him.

Get a psychologist. Get a witch doctor. Get the ghost of Christmas ****ing past. I don’t care — just get someone in to fix this bloody mess.
Mitchell has smashed Clarko in the coaching box every time.

Phillips has to be in next week for Wardlaw. Getting fairly frustrated at us not bringing in Banch considering how badly we need more forward pressure and goal threat when the ball hits the deck up forward.

Improvement isn't linear and I didn't think the big losses were totally gone after the last couple of months but that was absolutely shithouse and timely reality check for everyone at the club.

The last month we’ve barely made a change, bar injury forced.

It’s a missed opportunity to rotate and reward players.

Darling needed a rest. Chom came back to early. Could argue the same for Wardlaw. Konstanty / RHJ for Harvey and Banch.

Find a new role for Daniel.

Better second ruck option required.

Clarko is too stubborn at selection.

There’s much learning and recruiting that needs to be done with this team.
But that’s not what made me absolutely livid with this game……
Yes we bang on about umpiring and how different teams get certain results…….but f*#&#&$ me did l blow my stack when this (below ) was deemed a free kick……and was when l switched off and just listened on radio whilst working on a project…
And no lm still &&$## about this moment that seemed to kick off a series of unforgettable episodes.
I think I’ll take a breeze till morning …for my own sanity.

A Saints fan, bragging about personal achievements, on a forum, to no one he knows or has ever interacted with, online or in-person. Is there even an adjective to describe that? I'm not sure laughable covers it
****wit is probably the most apt.

After watching this team over the past 120 odd games, how some w***er thinks he can rile up this supporter base is beyond me.

We are all simply numb lol

I’m of the opinion that we can’t measure improvement against 1-6th; well you can but we’re not in that league and you will turn yourself inside out

We’re a bottom 8 team; look at those about us and measure improvements there.

Hopefully we’ll move up those rungs over 2026-28

Were probably playing a Preliminary Finalist and Thursday the possible Premiers and then the Swans with their guns back

Relax
We can go on for a looooooooooong time stuck in shitness with this logic.

They lost to Collingwood by 50. We didn't. They lost badly to a team we drew to. They're not 2007 Geelong.

They methodically outworked us, time and time again. Same old patterns showing up. There are no disclaimers. That was insipid. It will probably be insipid on Thursday, and then we'll probably take another six weeks to warm up enough in order to snag a last-gasp win against Richmond, then wipe our hands and go, 'good season, lads, significant improvement on last year.'

THE most inept backline in the league. Led by ‘one good game in ten’ Toby Pink and the rest of the duds recruited from other teams.

That said - never thought we’d get close and we didn’t - onwards and upwards.

How shit is it that we don’t even have early draft picks to pour over and see who we might land.

I thought the flogging you had to have was good Friday. Unacceptable today.

Midfield set the tone for a poor performance. Impossible to defend with quality of entries that Hawthorn had. They were unbelievably accurate which didn’t help. Good opportunity to make some changes on the back of a bad loss and some unfortunate injuries

I'm hoping that was just a bad night after a positive two months and we haven't fallen back into old habits.
