you are assuming we will keep the picks we currently have - plenty of time to pick trade and we have good currency for next year when a heap of clubs will be scrapping for points for NGA and F/S players

The other thing, and I forgot to account for this a moment ago - if our NGA does bust, we do have a lot of potential to trade upwards next year with this.

The big issue was getting f’ed with Greenwood.

He was worth more than Keath

Yup, he was the one you dig in on.

That was the main failing of this trade period, everything else has been acceptable.

Well at least we didn't receive bum sex with pick 45.

I sense a lot of people don't realise how valuable picks are next year given how many academy and FS players are in that draft.

Still feels a bit lame though. Its always next year with us.

Isn't the rule of thumb that next year's trade worth one round less? Know with Edwards and Borlase a bit different but this period has been a big fail.
At least we'll always have the CEY 49 compensation.

Thankfully the AFL helped us on that one - imagine if we had to deal with trading CEY? It'd be a 5th rounder.

Half of you guys are pathetic: you just wanted to rant regardless of the result. It's a marginal result, but
Reid hardly folded. Anyway, look on the bright side: we can now start a WB deathwatch thread.

Agree, the success/failure of this deal won’t play out until the 2020 season is over

There's so many people that seriously over rate our players here. I'm not going to say we've 'won' any trades because we haven't but the net losses overall are fairly minimal for what we are doing. I think people just got it in their heads we'd get a serious haul of high picks off what? A cooked Betts/Sauce? A not wanted Jenkins? Mature age guys with 50 games or so in Greenwood/Keath, one who struggles to run out games and one whose body has proven fairly fragile? Sorry guys these are not players other clubs are giving up high picks for.

Weak as piss, both Greenwood and Keath gone for a packet of chips, with no gaurentees that our F/S and NGA will actually be 1st rounders or any good at all, talk about all our eggs in one basket.
Bullshit, Luke Edwards looks every bit a 1st rounder, likely to transition from half back to the midfield in 2020, already 187cm and 78kg. Borlase already 191cm and 88kg and capable forward and back. Both announced as members of the 30 player AFL SA Academy Hub today.
