Hello Hawks fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Well, we’ll soon see what we get for the two of them and then know who was right and who was wrong.
We don’t need to wait that long. Live images from the eagles and tigers lost management room after coming off calls asking for early second round picks for brockman and Kozi…

Can't believe how defeatist Hawthorn supporters are with trade value of players. If Brockman went in the open draft, someone with his talent/X-Factor, with 3 pre-seasons under his belt, would easily go in the first two rounds this year. The only (big) issue is West Coast have all the bargaining power with the PSD, but Brockman certainly is worth a second round pick.

What would you offer for Ginnivan, Spargo, Vandermeer, etc?

Is it possible at all to put the dates in order? No stress if you can’t friend.

Edit: On the rumours sheet.

This draft is apparently shallow. Kosi and Brockman are known quantities and almost certainly better than whoever will be available in the third round of the draft. There is a reason why both players are wanted, both by us and by other clubs.

For us to ask for second round picks would be perfectly reasonable. The only real value in 3rd round picks is points to match bids on McCabe plus hopefully Jiath and / or Dear.

West Coast will not be keen to trade pick 19. They also have leverage with the PSD but I expect we will still get a 3rd rounder. Their own would be preferable. The one tied to Port definitely would be under value, but the points will still be useful.

With Kosi, Richmond have no 1st rounder this year so they may be reluctant to trade their 2nd. I think a 3rd this year plus an F3 is a realistic outcome.

I was gonna ask the same (re bolded). As one other poster said, context matters. And this is context.

Therefore if analysts believe the draft will be down to roughies and plodders by say pick 30, then that means Kosi / Brockman have to be, at worst, valued at pick 31.

However leverage is also context as in any exchange. We'll see I guess

But vic teams can’t bid on their academy players till 40. You couldn’t make this up

Game plan is all well and good but if you don't have the players to execute it means nothing. We had an unbelievable game plan in 09-12 but it didn't net us any silverware. Enter Brian Lake.
If you read Sam Mitchell's book he thinks that due to the game plan in 2010 we cost ourselves another premiership. Clarkson was too stubborn to change it despite the players urging him to.

Our gameplan in 2009-2011ish just didn't stand up in the heat of the contest. It was a gameplan that relied on perfection of execution which is almost impossible to achieve across 4 quarters in finals pressure (ironically we were able to achieve close to perfection of execution across 2014 and 2015).

It wasn't until we started to bring in some element of chaos and moving the ball forwards at any costs with taps and flicks that we had a finals ready gameplan.

It's why we were IMO the most perfect modern footy team. Could keep the ball like no other and flick it around like the Harlem Globetrotters but when we needed to get gritty and move the ball through sheer will we could resort to playing some ugly chaos footy.

Yep, which relied on skillful players to execute.

I know I’m biased but reckon at our peak in 2014-2015 we’d have beaten any team in history at their peak.

Out Franklin in lake, Hale.

Oh and a fine pair of wingers we really didn’t have in 2010-11. You can change game plan considerably with those pieces

If we can get to a stage where we have a strong enough midfield that we can play the likes of Day/Frenchy off half back for 70% of the game (which would be a complete luxury ala Burgoyne/Hodge) we will be gunning it for flags.

Anyone knocking the idea of bonafide A grade talent mids like Smith coming to the Hawks are crazy. Deep midfields win flags.

Deep midfields are a huge help and obviously cover other weaknesses, such as a lack of forwards.

IMO it's more likely Day could be used as a forward given his marking ability. He could essentially play like Gunston IMO.

Frenchy behind the ball would work too, he's done it before in his under-age year. Obviously we'd want the ball in his hands at every opportunity.
