it would be really interesting to know how many attendees at the rally yesterday (and other 'freedom' rallies) would have been at their first ever protest..

really says something about someone if the first time you've come out in support of a 'cause' is when you can't get a haircut on the weekend and you'd rather 1000s of people get really sick

global pandemics aren't supposed to be fun for anyone

think my first was when the french did their last bit of nuclear bomb testing

you are right that it is important (to isolate after being told) - but the cases detected while isolating means contact tracing is winning (getting to contacts and contacts of contacts before they spread further)
I know its just with the recent mystery cases and the initial exposure sites and contacts dropping off it was always going to effect the iso figures.

The other restrictions should be helping reduce the potential spread regardless.

to be fair, theres no covid risk of spread in perth, so no reason not to go and protest if you want
(exactly what they are protesting about idk)

The 60 minutes special on far right/white supremacy last week, the Nazi guys said they were using these rallies for recruitment.

They know their demographic

"This wasn't a group that had a specific leader. It seemed that it was angry men ... between 25 and 40," he said, "who were intent on causing this mayhem, intent on being involved in this criminal activity”

and thats why literally yesterday I said we have to include kids in our vaccination plans and numbers
Yep, there's a lot to consider when comparing ourselves to other nations in terms of opening up. We also need to be prepared for the fact we may still lose 0000s to covid and end up exacty where the rear of the western world is, just later.

Over 80% new cases not in isolation the whole time.

The genie ain’t going back in the bottle now.
Never had a chance with thousands of dipships meeting in the city to spread it around. It's over.

Drink driving is not a protest. Wtf is wrong with you?

Why are you constantly deflecting for a Nazi protest?
Cause they say the quiet parts he thinks outloud

Again it has nothing to do with nazis, you're the one hung up on that.

Its about peoples right to protest, and this government allowed a protest of over 10 thousand to go ahead after the CHO introduced restrictions because of active cases at the time and strongly advised against it, and the police also said they "respected the rights to protest" and allowed it to go ahead, then both the government and police do a backfip when the protest is about government policy.

So you are fine with the far right violence on display yesterday?

Were you on 60 minutes?

If there are police officers who can never work again then they might have met the same standards set by the G20 protesters in 2006, if not then it's not even the most violent protest in Melbourne this century.

The police response to G20 should have been the standard, instead for the next 14 years they went softly softly to not upset the pea hearts who make protesting their only job in life.

Then people started protesting against the Andrews government and now police are on the attack again, all I hope is those same tactics are continued to use when Extinction Rebellion or Invasion Day or Vegans march next...

I remember marching against HECS, me, Joe Hockey, Simon Birmingham...

HECS was already in when I started uni, the uni fight was about voluntary vs compulsory student unionism (marchers wanted compulsory which was the status quo) but they would also keep wanting to wind back HECS as well
the only politician I know of that I went to uni with (acquantaince level - she didn't march AFAIK) was Kelly O'dwyer
