Personally, thought it was a 5 week penalty, guilty plea or no.
If you want to send a message about violence and fair-play, this was the chance.
Wasn't accidental - A deliberate, forceful act that could have caused serious damage. Terrible look for the game.
As long as you stop at the point of ‘breaking’ the arm it’s a lesser offence.

AFL sending the wrong message and have it completely wrong. They are basically saying that regardless of your intent, unless you cause a significant injury, it’s not so bad.

Even Buddy striking off the ball Friday night copping 1 week. It was a deliberate strike. Maybe the force wasn’t there, but the action suggests it is not ghat bad. What do we want to see on the ground? Kids punching an opponent in the face away from the contest?

It’s not an issue until it is an issue.

Just like the dissent rule. In theory it seems fair, but while player dissent may have reduced, crown dissent is even worse with umpires copping it more. Not sure that’s going to encourage more people to take up umpiring.

EDIT: Just saw the Impey footage. Probably will get off with a fine, but to deliberately 'fall' on someone's back behind play with your knees isn't what the game should accept, particularly when you get wiped out for bumping in a contest.

Would imagine that he’ll end up in the leadership group sooner rather than later.

Wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he ends up captain one day (Nobody would have picked that Nick Maxwell in his second year was destined to be captain), but think VC is probably more likely.
Ginnivan as the VC to Nick Daicos would be brilliant. Totally different characters and paths to senior footy, but nonetheless both brilliant to watch

Ginnivan is more likely than McCreery.
He is a proven goal kicker and has shown to be a big game player. Also I doubt many kids under 15 games get the same level of attention Ginnivan gets both off-field and on-field where he seems to be a target, yet still can thrive.

This kid has the temperament and skill to be a good long term player for us. Also has the ability to play further up the field which he showed in his 20+ disposal game.

Not sure why some don’t think he has a career ahead of him. He sure has surprised me.

Absolutely bang on.

Im excited to think we have three different prospects up forward , all natural forwards.

Ginni with his dead eye kicking and x factor
Beau with the crash and bash and chase
Henry with his marking and freakish ability for clean posession when hes on

Id love to emulate the Hawks with how their small/med brigade played a tonne of games together

Puopolo , Gunston , Bruest

I agree - it should be based on intent, not whether it caused an injury.
In Ginni's case, he was OK, but a chicken wing is a deliberate attempt to cause potentially serious injury.

For me this quote from the article sums him up.

After the Anzac Day game in which he won the medal, Ginnivan’s smile turned deadly serious when asked about goalkicking, and he replied: “That’s what I get paid for.” He plays football joyously, but he is deadly serious about it.

So many people only see the surface.

Tyler Brown...

Reckon McCreery takes Ginn spot now? maybe a stint in the 2's for form & head shrinkage?

No.

Still showed maturity beyond his years. Did the team things.
