Round 1 of Season 33 is done and dusted and the Bears are on the board after notching up a 9 point win against the Furies, 80 to 71.

This week we officially welcomed King_Steele to Las Vegas and he got to work right away kicking 2 goals on his debut for the Bears. We also welcomed back to the Bears fan favourite Party Gull and playing for the Bears for the first time Senor M and Suns Supreme with all 3 contributing to the victory.

We also celebrated Matera92's 250th game in the SFA (242 Bears, 8 Phoenix), he kicked 2 goals for the game including the sealer.

Our first game at home for the season and Cap had a day out kicking 8 goals to help the Bears to a 26 point victory. Meaning Muddiemoose still has a 100% winning record as captain. MWPP, Millky95 and Electronic_Renaissance all had a day out with over 20 touches each and Kane249 popped up to kick 3 goals, while RookiePick joins the Donut club for not troubling the statisticians on the day.

Another good posting week for the Bears with 17 posters getting involved against the Roys with 14 posting at least 10 times or more. Suns Supreme lead the way falling 1 post short of bringing up the double hundred and Muddiemoose & Senor M posting the same amount as round 1.

We headed to the Home of the Gumbies for Round 3 and started like a house on fire kicking 7 goals in the first quarter to lead by 33 points. From there the Gumbies would slowly eat away at our lead and after leading for the whole match we finally gave up the lead in the last few minutes to snatch defeat away from the Gumbies, I think some of us got confused and didn't realise we wanted the win and not the loss.

Senor M put in a big game with 24 touches, 7 Marks and 2 Goals. RookiePick who didn't get a touch last week except from Testy in the showers picked up 20 touches which I am sure will impress the coaches. This weeks lazy campaigners were I Dont Care, tony, King_Steele who couldn't managed to get 20 DT, they will need to lift next week or else face the chop to mobb's reserve league.

After last weeks close lose the Bears were looking to get back on the winners list and started well, kicking 5 goals to 1 in the opening quarter and when Muddiemoose kicked the first of the 2nd Quarter the Bears lead by 31 points. From that point on it was all the Royals as they piled on 7 goals for the quarter to take the lead by half time. The 3rd quarter was a close one but it was in the final quarter where the Royals kicked away kicking 9 goals to win by 43 points, a turnaround of 74 points after Moose's goal in the 2nd quarter.

Cap 4, TheTick 3, Matera92 2, were our major goalkickers for the day.
Millky95, Muddiemoose, MWPP, Party Gull, Senor M, Suns Supreme all got 20+ touches for the day. Poor RookiePick one of our best last week sat on the bench all day to once again get donuts for the 2nd time this season, will the coach give him a run on the field next week.

Only 2 kicks each for Art & Matera this week, only difference being Art kicked 2 behinds and Matera 2 goals. Matera has been the more accurate of the two kicking 8.3 for the season to Art's 6.6. We will need more from the 2 old timers next week to beat the Rats.

With the Bears using the mantra of quality over quantity this week, no one made over 100 posts for the first time this season. Suns Supreme lead the way with 77 top quality s**t posts and Senor M keeps his pattern of double numbers going.

This week we took the short trip to the Underground to play our Las Vegas rivals, the Swamprats. Like the last 2 weeks we started well again and got to a handy 21 point lead by quarter time. The next two quarters were pretty even and we were only able to extend our lead by 5 to have a 26 point lead going into the last quarter. With it being I Dont Care's 250 game the Bears weren't going to let this game slip away and kicked 9 goals in the last term to double our score and run away with a massive 65 point win.

The call to start Testy in the guts got louder this week and the coach listened but it only lasted 22 minutes before the coach dragged him late in the first term, he came back on later in the game and finished with 11 touches on the ground and many more in the showers. Electronic_Renaissance played his best game for the season getting the ball 24 times, the most for either side. It was a very even performance by the Bears with 15 out of 20 players getting a double figure disposal count. Party Gull had a match high 9 tackles, swooping on the rats like they were a hot chip.

Matera92 & TheTick kicked 3 goals each, with another 7 Bears chipping in on the day to kick a goal.

Their stats are pretty even across the board, with Matera leading in goals kicked while Art is getting his hands dirty averaging a tackle a game.

The Bears were able to get the win last week without Captain Muddiemoose & Senor M in the team with several players stepping up to fill the gap. Will they be able to force their way back into the team this week.

Team wise it was a shocker of a game for the Bears but some individuals still put in big performances. Millky95 was a tackling machine with 7 tackles and 25 touches, MWPP got out rucked but was very good around the ground with 24 touches and Senor M came back into the side and was back to his best with 22 touches. Cap didn't waste a touch, kicking 5 goals from his 5 kicks for the game and Matera92 added 2 goals to his tally to put him 5 goals ahead of his FP buddy.



A big week for the Bears with 19 individual posters popping in to say hello against the Phoenix, a team high for season 33. It seems the Bears are very engaged and focused this week against the Bombers and some records might just be broken.

Round 7 saw the SFA's First Ever Pride game occur, with the Bears wearing their specially designed pride jumper taking on the Bombers.

Our terrible form from the Phoenix game continued into the first half of our clash against the Bombers and by half time we were 55 points down. Test Tickle tried to lead the revival after half time and when Cap kicked his 3rd goal with 5 minutes left, we were only behind by 7 points, sadly the Bombers were able to waste the remaining time and hang on for the win.

Best for the game were: Senor M, Test Tickle, I Dont Care, Cap

It was great to have Broken back with us, playing his first game for the season. It was a shame the coach wasn't so enthusiastic about it and dragged him from the field after just a couple of minutes. He also designed the Pride jumper which we wore for the match.

Another Round, another loss, here are this seasons stats.

The SpamBears are back!​

Round 7's Match thread was so GOOD and ENGAGING that many of this seasons records were smashed. 11 Bears beat their personal best for this season, with Cap, JoshWoodenSpoon, Millky95, Senor M, Suns Supreme all bringing up double tons or more. King SpamBear Suns Supreme posted more this round than 21 of his team mates have over the whole season and will be the first to pass 1000 posts for the season, can anyone catch him.

This week we got off to a good start having the first 7 scores of the game, only problem was, we kicked 1.6 and then we let the Warriors kick 4 goals in the last 6 minutes of the 1st quarter. Our inaccuracy all game killed off any chance we had to win. We ended up having more shots on goal but lost by 5 goals to the super accurate Warriors who managed to kill us in the last quarter with a run of 9 unanswered goals, luckily we kicked the last 5 goals of the game to make the score line look more respectable.

Broken had a great game with 26 touches and 15 hitouts & Millky95 must have taken some angry pills before the game tackling every campaigner in site, he ended up with 11 tackles and 5 free kicks. Cap might need to take off his new glasses, I think they are interfering with his vision after kicking 2.5.

The match thread against the Warriors was a very quiet week compared to the week before against the Bombers. We still got 15 different posters to enter the match thread and 11 of them posted 10 times or more. Suns Supreme is the first Bear to crack a 1000 posts this season, can he make it to 2000 before the end of the season.

This weekend the Bears did what they do best, lose for a champion of the club in their milestone game. Matera92 celebrated his 250th game for the club and while everyone rocked up for the party after the game, few of the Bears turned up for the Qooty match. After Cap kicked the first goal of the game, it was all downhill from there. The 8 goal loss sees us fall out of the top 8 for the first time this season and on the form we have at the moment, I see us fighting the Furies for the wooden spoon, not fighting for a spot in the top 8.

Cap & Matera kicked 3 goals each and Art Vandelay_ felt so sorry for his frenemy that he kicked a goal, Tony managed to kick just his 2nd goal of his career in his 59th match. Party Gull & Suns Supreme were the only players to get over 20 disposals for the match and for suns that was a impressive effort after going on and off the field like a yo-yo in the first half of the game.

Most of the team hasn't got a hit out so lets skip that and go onto Kicks. Now this will make Matera happy to know, that his buddy Art Vandelay is last for kicks averaging just 2 kicks a game, most of them aimed at Matera's shins.

For Marks we have 2 players who need to put superglue on their hands to take a grab, millky and party gull are yet to take a mark for the season. Come on gull, I have seen you swoop down and steal chips one grab no problems.

It seems our forward line are not Bears but Hogs with none of them liking to handball, Art Vandelay 4 handballs, Matera you can stop laughing at that cause you are worse with only 2 handballs but even worse is cap, who has only given off 1 handball. I went and found the commentary for his 1 handball and found he handballed it to Party Gull who kicked a goal so I guess some good came of it.

Its now time for Art to start laughing cause Matera has decided his doesn't want to hurt his hands and tackle anyone this season, only 2 tackles this season and both of them on Art trying to stop him from kicking a goal.

Matera must have given all the Qooty umpires parking tickets or speeding fines cause he is the only player in the team yet to get a free kick.

I Dont Care and Matera have been good boys this season only giving away 1 free kick each for the season which is surprising considering one carries a baseball bat with him and the other a baton. Stop twirling them around and hit somebody.

JWS and Suns are the only 2 in the team yet to score this season, normally I would let them off the hook considering they are defenders but looking at how we are travelling this season, it doesn't look like they are doing much defending either this season.

There is a reason the 2 old veterans are sitting in the forward pocket, if we add their disposal counts together they only beat one of them team mates and that is only by 1. No wonder we are losing so much this season having to carry these 2 lazy bums every week.

The Dragons Bear Patrol worked as last week was attended by the lowest amount of Bears posters for the season, out of the 14 Bears posters who attended the thread, 13 of them posted at least 10 times so we were still pretty active and able to keep the match thread flowing.

It sure is nice to be back on the Winners list. We lead from the 1st minute of the match, when Matera kicked his first of 3 goals for the game all the way to the end, extending our lead at every change to win easily by 61 points. A big 7 goal last quarter helped us regain some of the percentage we have lost over the previous weeks and has helped us get back into the top 8.

Lucky MWPP is a doctor and knows where the hospital is, cause she will need to get herself checked out for leather poisoning, she had a huge 36 touches and kicked 2.3 for the day. Electronic_Renaissance played the best game of his career with 35 touches and a goal. After a quiet week by his standard last week, Senor M was back to his best today with 28 touches and 2 goals.

The Bears had 10 different Goals scorers today, with Cap, Matera92, Muddiemoose kicking 3 each. Art Vandelay_, King_Steele, MWPP, Senor M, and Test Tickle all 2 and Electronic_Renaissance and Millky95 adding 1 each.

Special mention to I Dont Care who managed to not get a touch in today's win but I am sure his on field leadership was vital to the win.

This week we play the Demons, who are also 4-6, so its a big game for our finals chances.

We got a win and lots of people played well. MWPP and Electronic_Renaissance had season highs and I Dont Care managed donuts. A good week all round.

The Bears tried something different this week, normally we have a good start and fall away as the game goes on. Instead this week we started poorly and gave the Demons a 4 goal lead in the 1st quarter and at this point we all thought we would go back to our losing ways, especially for RookiePick's 200th game. I don't think anyone expected what happened next, in the 2nd quarter we kicked 10 goals, to take a 5 goal lead into half time. From there we slowly pushed out our lead to win by 45 points and improve our position on the ladder.

It was a massive day for a lot of the team with 7 players getting over 20 touches, Suns Supreme 21 touches, RookiePick 24, MWPP 25, Electronic_Renaissance 25 & 2 Goals, tony 21 & 1 Goal, Test Tickle 21 & 23 Hit outs and Senor M 23 & 1 Goal.

Party Gull had a game high 6 free kicks for and 3 goals.

On Sunday Cap couldn't work out which boots to wear and I can see why, it looks like he has enough boots for a team full of Moose. Thankfully he choose the right boots as he kicked 8 goals. Matera92 chipped in with 3 himself and kane249 and Art Vandelay_ 2 each.

The Bears had a big win week last weekend and with that, their was some big numbers accumulated, with Senor M, MWPP and Millky95 all collecting their 200th disposal for the season. I will do a bigger and better review once I feel better.



A good week with 17 different posters joining in on the fun against the Demons. JoshWoodenSpoon lead the way with 54 posts.​

On a crappy and muddy day at the Stadium in the Sky we took on the bottom placed Furies. Gresh_Magic (King_Steele) got us off to the perfect start with the opening goal of the game and Cap added 2 more for the quarter to allow us to take a 1 goal lead into quarter time. The 2nd quarter was quite possibly the worse quarter in SFA history with only 2 points score by the Furies.

3 goals to 2 allowed us to stretch our lead to 10 points at 3 quarter time and when Matera kicked his 2nd Goal for the game early in the last quarter we lead by 16 points, which in the conditions should have been a match winning lead, but the Bears did what they do best, we sabotaged ourselves. After Leading for 95% of the game, we conceded the final 3 goals of the game to lose by a point. We hang onto a spot in the top 8 by percentage only and play the 5th placed Roys this week, a win would put us on top of them.

Playing in Muddy conditions over the weekend meant disposals counts were lower than normal this week with no one getting over 20 touches. Party Gull got the highest this week with 18 touches and 5 tackles, which brings him to 50 tackles for the season, 2nd behind Millky95 on 68 who had 9 tackles on the weekend. Its a 3 horse race between MWPP, Senor M and Millky95 to see who can get to 1000 DT points first. MWPP 861DT leads the 2 boys by 15. Cap needs 5 more goals to bring up the half century for the season, hopefully he can get them during this weekends game.



The first week of the double up games and it showed, our lowest total posts for the season. We were still able to get 15 different posters to engage with the thread.​
