Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

Grease? Good lord people, my mum's fave movie is grease and she is like 1000 years old.

I'm still trying to figure out how a thread about Luke Ball turned into a "movie review" piece.

Got some laughs out of it though.:D

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

Haha best news in a while! Offer pick 30 or let him go into the PSD and put a price on his head.

All we have to do is show him the facilities at the lexus and he will want in fo sho!!!

yea sounds good, and we'll snag him first

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

St. Kilda want Peake, do they not?

I'm sure we could orchestrate a plan to get Peake to St. Kilda which would help Ball move to Collingwood.

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

Jolly and Kirk worked well together. I wonder what sort of partnership Jolly and Ball could form in the clearances.

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

I know exactly what the saints will ask for.

They have no young developing tall forwards. The boy they were developing for the role Jarryd Allen was forced into retirement with a hip injury.

They have ruckmen, defenders and plenty of midfielders. They'll want a tall.

Tom Lynch.
I think St.Kilda are interested in quick outside players like Peake. People have mentioned Wellingham , I would be very careful with that in a Ball trade as his ceiling is high.

Lynch isn't really a key forward. More a lead up type. Could one day be a key forward I guess, but not the type they were developing Allen for.

Sounds like our man at this stage. I would be sniffing around him if I were an opposition club , but I don't think the Saints are seeing that area as a priority.

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

Hopefully we can just help them get Peake and they'll send Ball our way.

For what it's worth Peake would be a good player at a club where he can front run.

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

He is not out of contract.. he just signed a 3yr deal not long ago. But it is said that he will play at Collingwood for less than what the saints had offered him to stay. YAY!! come on Collingwood get him!!!

Then Get Jolly!!

Then Get FEV

Then Get Premiership!!!

No no, he rejected a 3 year deal. Is uncontracted.

Bingo. St Kilda deal with us or give him up for nothing. I think a second round pick is reasonable.

No he is definitely uncontracted.

"FORMER St Kilda captain Luke Ball has requested a trade, rejecting a three-year contract and nominating Collingwood as his club of choice."

He was "offered' a 3yr deal in June.

He has not signed since.

I could be wrong but that is how I understood it to be.

Hopefully we can orchestrate a 3 way that could send Peake to the Saints.

ST KILDA midfielder Luke Ball wants to move to Collingwood.

The former Saints captain last night made the gut-wrenching call to request a trade, nine days after playing in a losing Grand Final.

Although Ball has a new three-year deal from St Kilda on the table, he believes Collingwood will offer more opportunities to re-ignite his career.

Ball was dropped to the VFL this year and played less than 50 per cent of game time in the Grand Final.

Ball will play for less at Collingwood than the new deal the Saints have put to him. Ball has been loyal to the Saints since being drafted at No. 2 in 2001, but wants to play where he feels wanted as a key contributor.

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon made it clear last night the club would not give up Ball cheaply.

"We are extremely disappointed that Luke has come to this decision," Lyon said.

"However, we will now do what is best for the St Kilda Football Club's interests . . . with the aim of completing an equitable trade for a person of Luke's calibre, leadership, playing honours and experience."

It may take a second-round pick and player to satisfy the Saints. Collingwood has earmarked its first-round pick for Sydney ruckman Darren Jolly.

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

Luke Ball is a 25 year old, with recurring injury problems, who isn't a top 22 player at StKilda, how in hell does anyone come up with a first round pick for him.

isn't in St Kilda's best 22? You didn't watch the Grand Final I take it when HE STARTED IN THE CENTRE SQUARE!?:thumbsd:

He didn't have any injury issues in 2009 - the only games he didn't play where when he was playing in the VFL. Competition for spots is pretty tough when you have a fit list, and are playing in a team that lost 3 games all year.

He is easily worth pick 14 - He is waaayy better than McLean and he went for a first rounder.

If you are a "best 22 player" and you are worth a "first round selection" you do not get demoted to the VFL and you certainly don't get given upto 50% game time for the majorty of the season and most importantly the GF.

Also, you do not seek a trade to a club lower on the ladder, for less money, if lack of opportunity is not the driving force behind the decision to leave.

Ball is not worth a first round selection.

Re: Luke Ball wants to be a Pie

I'm getting aggrivated at both Lyon and Roos wanting more from the suggested trades. I hope both of their apprehension is just a part of the trade week drama and in the end they accept, but I cannot be sure. :(

I just want Jols and Ballsy to join our club.
