Key match ups;

Ryder vs Riewoldt

Stanton vs Hayes
Peverill vs Dal Santo
Reimers vs Montagna
McPhee vs Hudghton
Davey vs X.Clarke
Lovett vs Gram
Lloyd vs S.Fisher

It does all depend who plays of course but Lloyd will play on Friday Night. Odviously Knights would have a tagger on Dal Santo but that would be the only 1. Let's no go overboard & worry about the Saints, let them worry about us! Our pace would worry them you would think.

Ruck duel should be interesting. Our rucks would have their measure around the ground but theirs would have an edge in the taps. Problem is, our rucks have far more responsibility in the forward line compared to the St kilda rucks

Thats the one i'm really looking foward to.
I think we really need Lloyd this week, and if he doesn't play, we really need Lovett/Davey to put the foward line pressure on, otherwise the likes of Clarke, Fisher, Gram will run all day off half back.

One error i might point out to you is that Guerra happens to play for Hawthorn now ;)

You have listed 17 match ups, so what you are saying is all but one match up is a "key" one :p

Hopefully when the Saints time-warp back to 2004 to pick up Guerra they'll bring Aussie Jones back too.

My bad!!! I cant believe i made that mistake.

Going to be tough to lock down their midfield. I went to the St Kilda V Geelong game and they dominated the clearances in the first half. If we can get on top in the guts we are a good show. Ryder V Riewoldt will be one to watch!:thumbsu:

Your mtach ups give me a lot of confidence the only one I cant see us winning is reimers vs montagna he is the one to tag no dal santo. Harvey wont play

Lloyd vs Sam Fisher is interesting. I dont think it will happen. Isnt Maguire back this week? If so, he is more suited to Lloyd, other wise I reckon Hudghton will get Lloyd and Sam Fisher might go to McPhee/NLM

Did Maguire play last week vs the Cats? He is the 1 player i forgot.

Lets cut this list down to some key match-ups.

Ryder vs Riewoldt:

Should be a good one. Riewoldt will have to run him up the ground a bit to get an advantage here I would rekon.

Slattery v Dal Santo:

Dal Santo has been well down the last couple of weeks and you would expect him to fire soon. He hasn't played that well against close tags and Slattery could get the job on him. If he can keep him quiet it will help us out a lot.

??? vs Koschitske:

Will Kosi play forward or in the ruck? He was very impressive last week and could pose us some problems if he is on his game. He is probably too strong for Fletch but unless Gherig misses the game Mal will probably not be avaliable. If Johns makes the team he might run wit hhim down back, while Hill would give him a run in the ruck.

??? vs Goddard:

If someone can play a defensive forward role on Goddard, like the role played on Heath Shaw on the weekend, then it would help shut down their run from the back. I'm not sure who the ideal person would be, maybe Lovett-Murray.

However this might not happen as Knights wants us working on our structures first and not over-complicating things at this stage of development.

Watson vs Hayes:

Hayes is a quality player and one of their most consistent performers. IF Watson can give him a run we will have a chance in the middle.

Stanton/Dyson vs Montagna:

Montagna is an underrated part of their midfield. I expect Stanton or maybe Dyson will go up against him.

McPhee vs Hudghton & Lloyd vs S.Fisher:

If Lloyd plays then we will need to see some good work from these two to stretch a pretty competent St. Kilda defence.

Am i missing something here or doesn't Goddard play sweeping HBF?

If so why are people matching up defenders on him?

Ryder usually plays on Kosi, but i do think he might play Riewoldt this week.

Houli isnt a defender though Merv. Bachar could play half forward.

I've watched the last 2 St Kilda games and Goddard has alternated mainly between wing and half back, but predominantly on the wing.

Will be interesting to who is in the St Kilda side this week. Harvey, Gehrig, X Clarke and Sam Fisher all under injury clouds.

I think it was on Before the bounce last Friday when they had the match ups on said that the stats so far proved that Gram and Montagna were there the 2 players that needed to be stopped. Welsh to hopefully come back into the side and take Gram and there is a few options that could go to Montagna.

Hudghton v Lloyd - Obvious match up. Best negator on best goalkicker.
S.Fisher v McPhee - Fisher is a pretty good match up for McPhee and with Goddard back in the team his rebounding isn't as crucial, which will allow him to play a better defensive game.
Gram v Lovett - Dangerous match up for us, but Gram is the only one with the pace to go with Lovett
L.Fisher v Davey - Massive difference in pace, but Leigh should be smart enough to not get himself in trouble and is a good defender
Maguire v Hille/Laycock - Lacks a bit of height but has the strength to take the Essendon rucks and at last he will have an opponent who doesn't kill him for pace

Thank god Lucas and McVeigh aren't playing.
