Love his attack on the ball, lead the way early in the desperation stakes, and I thought set the tone for your midfield.

Seems to rove well to Martin.

His game is having it all, tackles, clearances, contested possessions.

:thumbsu:

Jordie McKenzie is absolutely loved by Melbourne fans because he leaves it all out on the field every week. He was at the bottom of every pack today and he has been a tackling machine since his very first game. I thought he was best on ground today. He kept us in the game with his desperation in the first half. Love him.

Worth just as much as Scully, Trengove and Watts. Sure those kids are the stars and the match-winners, but it's players like McKenzie that are going to put in an effort 22 weeks and force the group forward. Gun. I would not walk in the streets with this bloke, he'd probably rip me a tackle any second!

He's a genuine nutcase as far as attack on the ball goes. Hardest Melbourne player since Jared Rivers
Let's just get a bit realistic. Jordie is crazy though, and makes life so much better for Moloney, Gysberts, Trengove and co. I still think we were a bit lucky to play against a midfield devoid of any star players which really helps our young guys, and was disappointed with our clearance as times, but the around the ground stuff was great.

 Nobody goes harder head-first than the kid. He doesn't duck and play for frees either he's just really wants the ball. Viney, Tingay, whoever, the boy doesn't have to look up to anyone as far as hardness at it goes. He's as hard as anyone.

Just saying most others teams have hard nuts, were just Melbourne! And was trying to give Rivers a pump up (bugger Glenn Archer). Great thing about tonight was Rivers, Macdonald, McKenzie, Moloney, Trengove, Scully, Gysberts, Evans, Jones really set a standard about doing the hard stuff and from there the other young players had no option but to join in. Some of the lesser likes in this area such as Morton and Bennell went when they had to. Probably Jurrah was the only one who played 'bruise free' footy tonight for the first half, which whilst it needs to improve I can excuse from the great man....for now.

We've known for some time - other more high profile youngsters have perhaps taken the limelight, and I suspect he's always going to be a blue collar type - but he will be one of the first picked in our side for quite a few years to come..

While the papers were talking about the outs for Melbourne,Grimes,Jamar, Sculls, Trenners,Garland,Dunne, there was no mention of McKENZIE.
He is as important as any of the above,he is the one that the Demons have missed the most in the first 10 weeeks, his tenatious tackling and attack on the contested footy is as good as anyone in the league.
Go Jordie;)

Fantastic pick up b the club,

I think the recruiters went to see Scully play, Mckenzie went on him in the second half,

Two potential stars for one visit by the recruiters, Great insight by those picking players for the draft,,

We will be up n down all year, Its much better to be Up and lets keep it UP !

Go Dees give 'em HELL !!

The recruiters were actually watching Wattsy play, he had just turned the game on its head in the second quarter after his side was getting smashed, but then McKenzie went onto him and shut him down totally, the huge winner because of this was the Demons who discovered a great talent that had slipped under the radar of most recruiting staff, so we got two for one:)
