Anyone who decides to say that they've backed the winner here with no previous mention of it on the board will be given a week holiday

None were considering coming. Don’t blame COVID.

Look if you want to lie to yourself and claim you haven’t been tipping random jap horses that were never going to come left right and center the last two years go for it.

Literally the only time I mentioned the Japs last year

Japan is where you want to be looking so long as Covid doesn't scare them off. Unlike the Euros they get to skip the scintigraphy scan which you would think makes them more likely to come even without worrying about the possible affects the scan could have on a horses prep.

Would be just guessing at this point to what Japs are coming over but a horse like Win Kiitos i would think would be a decent chance and would go very well. Very progressive 4yo with a fast turn of foot and tactical speed but not quite at the elite level right now. Won the Meguro Kinen which gives it ballot free entry to the Caulfield Cup.

Well this is awkward. May 2021

For anyone looking to catch a bit of the yellow fever early this year some of the good Cup form races have been going on in Japan over the last few weeks with the Tenno Sho, Nikkei Sho, Osaka Hai and the Niigata Daishoten and Meguro Kinen coming up this month.

Ones that would really interest me if they decided to come over are;

Lei Papale for the Cox Plate. She is an unbeaten progressive mare who races on the lead and would be very well suited to 2000m at the Valley. Demolished Contrail, Grant Algeria and Salios last time even though it was on a wet track which might not have suited them. Still though looks really good and is owned by the same connections as Lys Gracieux and Mer De Glace who have already come down and cleaned up recently.

Curren Bouquetd'or for the Caulfield Cup. Perennial place getter against Japan's best middle distance and staying horses. If they want to pick up a win with her and some good prize money then the CC would be hers for the taking racing up on speed. Would be one they could attempt the double with too but I think a mile and a half is her best trip.

Mozu Bello probably the most likely to come at this point with connections being keen to bring one to Melbourne for the Spring and it ran a good enough 2nd in the Osaka Hei the other week at huge odds for them to probably send it over for a crack. A good level or two off the better ones though so would want Delta Blues type odds and nothing else to come to entertain backing.

Watch and see though over the coming months though because that's THE form to follow if anything of note comes over again

Apology accepted xoxo

Yahagi had a look at the pittance they run around for at Ascot and said * that.

Stay Foolish staying at home for the Takarazuka Kinen now. Decision then on whether to go Cup, Arc or Breeders

More like he looked at the horrendous record of Jap squibs at Royal Ascot and decided to come home with his tail between his legs.

The Cup is the only one of those three he can be remotely competitive in so a good sign that he will come.

Apparently connections would like to bring Enemy down for the Cup. Has more to do to qualify. Looks ambitious.

Couldn’t win if it started today. Nowhere near good enough

HOO YA MAL straight in at 17s after being bought by Gai for $2 million.

No thanks. Was having a look to see if any of the books had it in on the 150+ line last night as would have been worth a spec bet at the triple figures but that's it

$150 would have been fair odds. $17 to make the field would probably be unders - one of the worst buys i've ever seen

Hoo Ya Mal has met a qualifying condition and, with a rating of 116, should get enough weight to make the field. Having said that the handicapper is happy to disregard ratings if he feels a horse doesn’t have a sufficient body of work to prove the rating, as we saw with Tiger Moth.

Trueshan defies the weight to win last night in Northumberland plate
Heads to Goodwood cup now, too slow for here as is Kyprios
Still adds some international class if he comes

She’d be a moral here on a bog. But they aren’t going to bring her halfway around the world hoping for that. If only the race was in Sydney!

Kyprios would be more than fast enough to win down here but will be weighted out of it

Has panels on all ours and used to carrying the weight could still win if right run race

On Trueshan, we know the VRC aren’t against watering the s**t out of the track to entice internationals

Lol they are not going to water it to a heavy 10

It’s not good enough to win off top weight. Let’s not forget a bloody slowbor winner got 58 or something last year.

Ridiculous call. Very average horse running around for years at 2000-2400m. Finally step it up to 3000m+ and runs clear career peaks as a 7yo and immediately drop it back to 2200-2400m races... This French hard on is actually embarrassing at this stage.

Pantha probably just going to stay home for the Tenno Sho at the moment. The fact Yahagi trains it the only thing making a Cox Plate before Hong Kong a serious option

Lel at the boys new purchase Loft sitting up the top as equal fav

B grade German stock has just worked so well for them since they have kept trying to find the next protectionist.

Dead set left zeroes of it and Gais derby bolter
